S-05 Beat the Clock

Its more a problem of making do with only four spies then it is a financial problem in my opinion.

Just letting you know that my report will come tomorrow afternoon. I've played my turns but I'm going xc-biking tomorrow morning.

Spending

In the pre-turn I yanked the science up to 100% to get this in two turns.

Then went all cash. Our beaker amount was quite impressive during the Golden Age.

Since our budget surplus was 3400+ gpt and the espionage budget didn't cover it, not even close, I started upgrading units. Among other things, we now have a completely modernized navy.

Building things

I was going to start the SDI in Carthage, but then Roosy dropped by.

Civ4ScreenShot0014.jpg

Aww, the poor guy doesn't have uranium... No nukes for him, then.

We now have another buttload of more units. I didn't change any civics. We really don't need to draft MI's and I figured that switching to police state wouldn't do that much to our advantage.

I built quite a lot airports to increase our tactical options.

If we need to build anything big, this guy is up to the task.

I left him dozing beside London. Any ideas for him?

Espionage

Our women in black did good work this round. Lots of aluminium mines met their demise. This was quite a revelation.

No worries of the Americans launching anytine soon, yes?

This was also very interesting.

After I lost one spy trying to sabotage the production, I went for the windmills and mines around the city. If we can delay that thing up to 1900, we can steal Roosy's plans to reveal his biggest stacks and then give them some radioactive love. :mwaha:

Here's the save and a power graph, which looks quite reassuring.

Lol, why did America start the Stasis Chamber in a city with 3 hammers :crazyeye:? Are we going to give away Angle? And with our huge budget excess we can cash-rush some military (or nukes :trouble: :satan:) . Stealing his plans is a good idea.

Sweetacshon is up! When the war starts we can play 5-turn sets.

I can't say this TS was all that eventful. Sabotage, build death machines, save money, repeat ad nauseum. So to feel like I was actually doing more than just setting up for the war TS (not successful), I tried to keep a idea of American builds. These will need to be checked between aluminium sabotage, but it seems there is no chance of a space win. :nya: He has built only something like 8 parts.

The military builds were a bit random, since it is so easy to move stuff around, I assumed the TP/team would decide where to put them. There are fleets near Carthage, between exSpain and America, and between ex Rome and America, and about 13 nukes scattered around. I whacked West Point in Neopolis, which now cranks out lvl 4 MAs in asbout 2 turns. :D Army stacks are mainly near Carthage and London. I just realised that we have more money than we know what to do with, and that I approached my TS badly, but it'll only add a few turns to the win. Anyway, buy at every city, every second round, and enjoy the fight. :nuke:

Does this guy live in the real world?

During the first five turns I spent all our money on nukes :mischief:.

Then set up some transports around the American cities.

In 1900 we have quite the army:

Thanks to recon missions, we can see the entirety of Roosevelt's army:

For the first time in the SG, I get to tell some one I want their head on a pole! :hammer:

Remember those 45 nukes we have? Here's the first couple:

then a slight options change ...

43 more nukes later, and the world turns green.

45 nukes took its tole on the poor americans. Roosevelt's army is reduced to:

And raze a few empty coastal cities.

Next turn raze some more empty cities.

Why the long face Roosevelt?

Oh right. I see. Does that mean we can't be friends anymore?

Finally raze the last four cities.

For a conquest win in 1903!

Here is the save 1 click before conquest. Fun game, team!

We beat the clock.

Lurker's congrats

Nice job guys! I thought the game looked like it was in trouble after the war with Rome - what with the tight time table and all. Great job pulling it through. :goodjob:

45 nukes is funny. Did poor Roosie never get around to finishing the SDI?

-94 "You nuked us!"

'nuff said. :nuke: :nuke:

lurker's comment:

That probably was the best ending I've seen to an SG. Good work and great variant!

45 nukes
-94 for you nuked us!
-55 for razing cities

I have never seen such an absurd penalty from an AI before.

Well done. That was very satisfying.

Well nuked, Soooo!
If I ever need a guy to press a red button, I'll call on you.

That was a really fun and interesting variant. Thanks for the game, people!

Lurker comment:

BWahahahahahaha, what a great ending. I never thought you guys would pull this off, but the -94 you nuked us and -55 you declared war are priceless. Damn this was a great SG. Thx for the entertainment guys. I almost pissed my pants when I saw what Roosie had left after the nuking. Poor Roosevelt. Poor poor Roosevelt, I knew him well....

Wow, we actually pulled this one off. What an amazing game.

Soooooo, that ending was inf-kingcredible. :worship: Poor Roosy knew altogether too well what hit him...
