Civ 4 Unistalltion problem

My Civilization 4 file folder is corrupt and Im trying to uninstall it, except when uninstall I get this error from installshield

Error Code: -5004 : 0x80041f42
Error Information:
*C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional\RunTime\12\00\Intel32\iKernel.dll

And It is impossible for me to install Civilization 4 again until the other version is completely uninstalled. Any help that can be aided would be greatly appreciated.
 
I would say, go into your registry(on the command line type regedit) then hit Ctrl-F and type Civilization and delete all Civilization references, just hit F3 after you delete something.

ONLY DELETE CIVILIZATION AND FIRAXIS ENTRIES IN YOUR REGISTRY, IF NOT YOU WILL COMPLETELY MESS UP WINDOWS

Then try reinstalling Civ..
 
necbone, thank you for your guidance. I was facing a similar problem and at a loss for a solution. What you suggested worked great and I successly launched a BTS game. Now, I will go and play it! :)
 
These are the entries you're supposed to delete

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Firaxis Games

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}

Hey Necbone when you say "ONLY DELETE CIVILIZATION AND FIRAXIS ENTRIES IN YOUR REGISTRY" do you mean the files that say

Civ4Replay
Civ4SavedGame
Civ4WorldBuilderSave

Just want to make sure so I don't mess anything up.
 
I say delete all, but if you can install after only deleting a few, then it's considered a win.
 
I deleted those 2 files but Warlords is still showing up. Is there something else I need to delete in order to get that off?
 
ok so heres my problem. I got the civ 4 a couple days ago and installed it then i tried installing the patch. After i installed the patch the game wouldn't launch so i tried uninstalling but the uninstaller wasn't working! So i searched "civilization" in "my computer" and deleted any results. So after that i tried installing and it said: "there is already a previous version of this game." And when i went to add and remove programs it said it was still there. When i clicked "remove" this error appeared:

ok, so i finally deleted all my civ references and the autoplay says i can install it says that "setup has detected that verison 1.74.000 is already installed"
idk wut to do im trying to search my registry for the patch but no luck so far...

so im having the above mentioned problem except that after ive gone through and deleted the reg entries it is detecting the 1.74 patch and im not sure how to get around this any one know how?
 
Hey can someone help me? ive done all the stuff u guys said to do, but i still can't uninstall civ 4 warlords was easy to uninstall but the original is giving me a problem. If anyone can help me please HELP ME. im not sure if this will help but i have a windows vista computer
