File re-uploaded and Bhall's Fist button fixed.
V 0.5 - A little playtesting and everything seems to work, but I'm hoping to make significant improvements.

The mod adds three Amurite UUs:

Siege Mages: Replace the Catapult. Require Elementalism and Cave of Ancestors. Their main attack is a custom fireball spell that can greatly reduce city defenses.
Battle Mage: Replaces the Arquebusers. 25% stronger (due to +2 Fire), but 40% more expensive.
War Wizard: Replaces the Cannon: An upgraded Battle Mage. No bombard function or withdraw, but it does do collateral damage and explodes if destroyed.

The modmod uses a CivilizationInfos file, so any modmod with an Amurite entry in that file will need to be merged.

Things I'm not happy with (suggestions greatly appreciated):
The names "Battle Mage" and "War Wizard." I'd like something less generic. Preferably names with some FFH2 lore behind them.

The graphics for Battle Mages and War Wizard. C. Roland's C3 cyborg graphics are well done and fit with the "magical blasting powder" idea. But I'd rather get away from the blasting powder tech completely and connect the UUs to arcane-techs. The problem is I haven't been able to locate appropriate ready-made graphics for a melee-mage. Well, other than the Amurite Swordsman and Champion... in use, though.

The buttons are all currently the same recolored "Mage" button. I'll include custom buttons eventually, but I'm hoping someone can point me to better BM/WW unit graphics first.

Great Idea! How do I merge something? I’d like to use this with the mod fall further, but I have no idea if this is possible (alas: for me) :)

For Fall Further you'd just need to alter the included civilizationinfos file. Otherwise the moded Amurites could build the FF UUs such as the Professor.

You can either look at the Fall Further civilizationinfos file and cut-and-paste a few lines (which I'll explain if you wish)... or just re-download the modmod. ;) It now has "For Fall FurtherBM.zip" containing a civilizationinfos with the necessary alterations.

I should have included it in the first place. It's easy enough and anyone hanging around in this forum is likely to be running Fall Further. :)

Well, you could always use "Warlock" for something.

Other than that, you can always trot out the "Latin root" + "-mancer" combinations for some good sounding names.

For catapult units maybe "Kinetomancer?"

Maybe use that name and qualify it, since catapults, arquebuses, and cannon are all projectile weapons? Something like Kinetomancer Adept, Kinetomancer Mage, and Kinetomancer Arch-Mage?

Well, good luck and have fun with it!!

Thats not a Latin root, it is Greek. Of course, since "-mancer" is from Greek too, Greek is probably more appropriate. Since the "-mancer/-mancy" part literally refers to divination, this would probably mean one who tells the future based on motion, rather than one who magically moves things.

Meh. You'd think that as a Classics major, I would have remembered that! (Of course, I was a Political Science/Classics double major -- and guess which one I ended up actually using?) :mischief:

In any case, I suspect that the OP is just looking for cool names:

Here's a few more off the top of my head:

Mechnomage
Dynakrator (loosely: "force ruler")
Arcane Battery
Resiactor (loosely: "stuff thrower")

That's correct. Though of _course_ I'd be loathe to take a name that mixes Latin and Greek roots. I have Standards. :)

I think Dynakrator is rather cool. I'll pour over the Amurite background material I can find and look for a hook, though.

Also: File re-uploaded, Bhall's Fist button fixed. (Was pointing to the "siegemages" directory.)
