Imperium Offtopicum 3: the quest for Imperium Offtopicum 2

The Chinese intelligence agency has just found concrete proof that Rahmud al-Udris has been in contact with rouge elements of the Byzantine army, and has been wiring large sums of money to the emperor's private doctors.

The late Emperor's private psychiatrist vehemently pleads his innocence and denies receiving any money whatsoever from Rahmud al-Udris or having any intention to do any harm to the Emperor. "The Chinese are lying through their teeth", he protested.

He is now suspected to be lying as, while he was giving his statement to the press, police found the Emperor's private psychiatrist in a cellar shackled to the wall and gagged.

China, is it possible for you to supply names of this so called Rouge Army? for obvious reasons it is dangerous to let them continue. they could destroy Byzantium if given the chance.

Byzantium has voted to let Indonesia secede completely. a followup vote took place in Indonesia, 53% favored independence. so it is done. all Byzantine lands in south east Asia is now an NPC in one single nation.

If you didn't want it, why did you claim it?

Well since he doesn't want it, the Caliphate (the organization) uses the cultural influence from its sleeper cells to sway Indonesia to the Caliphate (the government), either at once or province-by-province, whatever Mad Man deems appropriate.

Carthage does not have an interest in governing Indonesia.

oh. well complete independence will do then.

(from this time foreword, Indonesia is almost completely Muslim, with just a tinge of Byzantine culture)

to the caliphate: are you capable of supporting Indonesia? and having enough manpower to defend it and modernize it?
Don't you worry your pretty little head.

If I can't grab it all at once, I'll start in Jakarta and its neighbouring provinces and expand by 3 provinces/turn:

Can I have the rest of Tibor and New Guinea?

(yes im basically trying to copy carthage)

the following laws will be in effect right now:

Texting while driving is illegal and punishable by having your texting device destroyed and the license taken away until they learn not to do it. seriously. don't do it!

drinking while driving: license taken away for a year. no exceptions.

twilight: anyone who reads twilight will have that book taken away and shot, then burned.

Murdering someone: you get executed if your guilty. ( note: if the subject is obviously guilty, as in if someone comes in and shoots up a school and gets captured alive, and there are several hundred to thousands of witnesses, he will simply be executed. no trial.)

all other MAJOR crimes are punishable for life. or executed. period.

anyone acting stupid on purpose will be severely fined... like making planes out of couches, or palying on your computer so much one of your family members die as a result ( im looking at you Korea.), etc.

all foreigners are also expected to follow this law. not even diplomatic immunity will save you.

The Caliphate condemns Byzantium's draconian sense of "justice", contempt for international law, and disregard for human rights in attempting to uphold "societal values". Any diplomats the Caliphate has in the Byzantine capital have been recalled. Byzantine envoys have likewise been expelled.

so you condemn the first two laws? nice to know that you care so much for your people.

the third one is my choice. and its a sound one

the fourth one is as fair as i can make it. the trail for those who are quite obviously guilty would just waste resources for no real reason. if he was witnessed shooting up an entire school, you cant really deny it. ever.

the fifth one is alright.

i was lenient about the 6th..

and im tired of the diplomatic immunity. its just not acceptable.

That flag looks awfully familiar, OMG Mathalamus has kidnapped Varwnos!! :run:

Anywho and back into the game, after hearing what is going on with the Byzantines. The Brotherhood will not send any of there diplomats to the Byzantine. Any Brotherhood Diplomats that are in the Byzantines are hearby been recalled. In response, the Byzantine's envoys and diplomats have also been expelled untill the Byzantium respects international law and starts respecting human rights. This draconian sense of justice displayed by the Byzantium shall not be tolerated.

Irregardless if you are tired or not. Diplomatic immunity is acceptable and should be acceptable!

maybe if you would quit overreacting and tell me whats wrong with all 6 laws i may refine it.

and no. why shoudl some people get away with literally everything? if i had diplomatic immunity ( which i don't) i can just do whatever the hell i want and break every single law. and you cant do anything about it. its not acceptable.

Funny, when the Caliphate condems and retracts there diplomats and in retalliation expels the Byzantium's diplomats. You don't cry "QUIT OVERREACTING!"

When someone else complains, you cry "QUIT OVERREACTING!".

First of all, I am not overreacting buster. Second of all the rules that you listed are WAY WAY overboard. Let's go through the rundown:

Texting while driving is illegal and punishable by having your texting device destroyed and the license taken away until they learn not to do it. seriously. don't do it!
That's going way over the line. Punishing someone for a one time offense by destroying there electronic device and then taking away there licence is going WAY WAY overbounds. Seriously, destroying someone's personal electronics. A simple fine would be sufficiant for first and second time offenders. A third offense would be revocation of the licence. Destroying a texting device is just plain wrong and overreacting.

drinking while driving: license taken away for a year. no exceptions.

twilight: anyone who reads twilight will have that book taken away and shot, then burned.
This law is just plain stupid and downright authoritarian. What's next? You're going to start a book burning of scientific books?! This law has no respect for human rights and the freedom for people to read what they want. Shooting people just because they read a book you do not like or agree with is just plain wrong.

Murdering someone: you get executed if your guilty. ( note: if the subject is obviously guilty, as in if someone comes in and shoots up a school and gets captured alive, and there are several hundred to thousands of witnesses, he will simply be executed. no trial.)
I have a major issue with this. No trial? WTH!? Even the defender needs to have a right of a trial.

all other MAJOR crimes are punishable for life. or executed. period.
Too vague. Only serves an excuse for the Byzantarium to execute or lock there own people for no reason.

anyone acting stupid on purpose will be severely fined... like making planes out of couches, or palying on your computer so much one of your family members die as a result ( im looking at you Korea.), etc.
This is idiotic. Punishing people just because they act stupid?! Why do you hate Human Rights?

all foreigners are also expected to follow this law. not even diplomatic immunity will save you.
This is a biggie that I have qualms with. No diplomatic immunity?! WTH Byzantarium!? Do you have that much disregard to international law that you'd want to punish a diplomat for one flipping mistake!? Give me a break!

I urge the United Nations to punish the Byzantarium for having disregard for Human Rights in order to uphold it's "societal values"

and no. why shoudl some people get away with literally everything?
Then no diplomats and envoys to you then, I'd urge all in the United Nations to follow suit until the Byzantines respect Diplomatic Immunity. Besides, I doubt any of the member nations would appoint criminals into there Diplomatic corps.

The Caliphate politely requests Byzantium hold its tongue.

If you can't see the problem yourself, there's little hope for change. However, being the generous and ethically conscious nation we are, the Caliphate will highlight the law's failures:

Texting while driving is illegal and punishable by having your texting device destroyed and the license taken away until they learn not to do it.
Outlawing texting is sensible enough. The punishment is not. It reeks of the nanny state approach.

drinking while driving: license taken away for a year. no exceptions.
Again, sensible, but as with the first clause, punishment suggests a nanny state.

twilight: anyone who reads twilight will have that book taken away and shot, then burned.
This is completely ridiculous and nothing less than thought control.

Murdering someone: you get executed if your guilty. ( note: if the subject is obviously guilty, as in if someone comes in and shoots up a school and gets captured alive, and there are several hundred to thousands of witnesses, he will simply be executed. no trial.)
I won't get into capital punishment, but sentencing without trial does not reflect contemporary standards of justice. Suggesting that this is to cut costs is, from a legal and ethical perspective, abhorrent.

all other MAJOR crimes are punishable for life. or executed. period.
Again, I won't get into capital punishment.

anyone acting stupid on purpose will be severely fined... like making planes out of couches, or palying on your computer so much one of your family members die as a result ( im looking at you Korea.), etc.
Again, subjective criteria for thought control.

all foreigners are also expected to follow this law. not even diplomatic immunity will save you.
You set a dangerous precedent to opening your own citizens up to such exploitation.
