Imperium Offtopicum IV: Third's the Charm?

@ANTIEDO:

Although Petrograd has absolutely no intention of joining such an alliance at this point in time, we would like to apply for observer status. We were going to ask for this the first time we declined the offer, but it was decided to allow a committee to debate the issue first.

Unless the other members of ANTIEDO voice disapproval at this, I think Petrograd can safely be considered an observer from this point forward.

Allowing Petrograd to observe our activities would also enable them to make an educate decision on whether to become an actual member at a later date.

You have our firm promise that these lands would be a part of the homeland and not treated like colonies.

The Federation would like to add that likewise, its overseas expansions are also treated as home territory and not colonies. Tunisia, for instance, has the right to vote despite not being European. Any "imperialism" and "exploitation" on our part is just a fabrication by the paranoid nations.

Then the Principality officially requests to join ANTIEDO.

And unless any of our members dissent, I think it's safe to say you are now a member of the four-members strong ANTIEDO!

What do you say to the Euro currency proposal and the European Free Trade Area?

Well, I think it's time to elaborate on the Kingdom of Great Britain.

The Kingdom of Great Britain
CAPITAL: London.
POPULATION: 53,000,000.
SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT: Parliamentry Democracy.

LAND FORCES: The British Army is a medium-sized force, consisting of contemporary British equipment (Challenger II, Warrior IFV, ect). At least 30% are mobilized at all times in case of invasions by hostile states.

NAVAL FORCES: Very large, as Britain wishes to demonstrate itself as a primary naval power. Six carriers are currently built, with a seventh expected.

AIR FORCE: Again, medium sized, relying on the Harrier and the Typhoon for fighter combat, and the Avro Vulcan for bombing duties, although many other planes are used.

In other news, London would like to extend an economic pact to Aberdeen. Such a pact would induct a common currency and free trade between our nations.

Would Britain be interested in the new Euro being proposed? We could change the name if necessary; Euro is just a "working title" until the deal is formalised.

As well, we are working on creating a free trade area, and likewise extend this to Britain.

"Because of our position as a growing nation, we fear our corner of the world will not forever go unnoticed. As such, we gladly would like to join the NADTA to ensure protection. As such, we also offer a trade alliance."

Sincerly, Emperor Vlaash of the Neo Inca.

@Asian States:

Although it is distant from now, would any of you find it offensive if Petrograd one day crossed the alps and claimed traditionally Russian territories in Northern Asia?

India has no interests in Asia north of the Syr Darya. However, China has already claimed a substantial part of historical Siberia.

India also would like to request observer status in ANTIEDO, as we have economic interests in Europe as well as alliances with two European states.

Fostering closer ties with Asia and the world is indeed in ANTIEDO and all Europe's interests, and so unless any of ANTIEDO's members have complaints about this proposal, India can now officially consider itself an observer of ANTIEDO.

The Federation asks what the Baltic Empire's stance on the pan-European alliance is.

The Baltic Empire is scattered and young, and possibly vulnerable to aggression. But by joining ANTIEDO, it will gain three strong allies, assisting in its peaceful expansion. As our defenses are tied together, we will be able to secure eachother.

In an age of increasing anti-European hostility, close relations would be a large bonus.

The Baltic Empire have decided to not join the pan-European alliance for now.

The Federation accepts the polite decline, but as with all other declines, states the offer is still on the table.

With greater integration between the American states against "European imperialism", it is ever more important Europeans improve their ties.

Observer status? Why not full membership:goodjob:

India didn't request full membership. ;) :p

That and, for the time being, it is a European alliance. Expanding outside Europe would feed the fears that our alliance is meant to be imperialist.

We haven't claimed an entire other continent as ours, however, and yet we're the "imperialists."

Of course, we could always have a "special relationship" with India as time goes by. But we shall see as the alliance is fleshed out.

We accept the offer.

Scotland,

Would you be interested in joining the economic monetary union and free trading area that we are trying to set up? The "Euro" is the working title of the currency, in honor of the previous monetary union, but we can sort the final details once the union is actually made.

PADTA Members,

What are your stances on the Panama Canal? The Marian Federation has no interest in North America or South America for the most part. We do, however, wish to know what this alliance's stance on the Canal is. Especially due to the fact the ever-expanding PADTA alliance's size will eventually allow de facto denial of entry to the Canal for political purposes.

I'd suggest that the Panama Canal Zone to be within the juristiction of the UN

I think ANTIEDO will be able to work with all of Europe and indeed, much of the world to make sure this is the reality.

However, PADTA has already announced a proposed Monroe Doctrine to colonise all of South America. This means Panama itself will also be under threat of PADTA control.

But we should await the American states' response first.

At the very least we are happy to commit to the free trading area. As for a common currency, we are currently reviewing economic reforms alongside Britain, and our answer will be dependant on if they join the 'Euro' as well. In principle however, Scotland is willing to join.

Then it is settled! Scotland and the Marian Federation are the first signatories of the European Free Trade Agreement. :goodjob:

We have lobbied the British, and were sure to include that Euro is only a working title due to historical reasons. The British seem very isolationist, but we hope they will accept at the very least economic integration. Free trade between the economically-prospering nations could only stimulate competition, and therefore quality.

------------

The Marian Federation encourages all other European states in good economic standing to join the free trade area as well.

Unless current members have any objections to the newer members, I'd say it's safe to assume one has been automatically confirmed for membership.

France wants in on this free trade agreement as well.

Unless Scotland has any objections(given that you were historical allies, I doubt such), this means the Free Trade Area is now composed of France, Scotland, and the Marian Federation! :goodjob:

The Federation has a separate Free Trade Agreement with Byzantium, but we encourage them to join the Free Trade Area as well.

Germany, as an economic powerhouse and member of ANTIEDO, is also politely asked to join the European Free Trade Area.
