Imperium Offtopicum IV: Third's the Charm?

OOC:Would a higher tax rate be unrealistic though? TBH, I think even 14% is pushing it. Funneled some money from Welfare to Internal Development Grants, and took off the note about the carriers. Changed the carriers to six. I feel that six is realistic.

you can have up to 20 and i wont care.

I gave stats on how the US tax system was in comparison to GDP; 14.7% of GDP was collected as tax. You're fine. :)

The US also maintained 10+ carriers on a 600 billion dollar military budget, so I think six carriers works fine.

guinea news

due to several problems with the budget, supplies of all kinds and money to Secularist Brazil, totaling 1 billion dollars, has being canceled. this billion dollar aid took up more than 15% of the total economy, so we had to cut that.

my reasoning is this: you would rather want a powerful nation with no economic problems rather than a highly unstable power with massive economic issues.

my borders are still open to Secularist Military forces for rest, rearming from foreign countries, and a place to strike from.

my apologies for doing this.

We are glad to see the Guineans have taken our advice and are working to make sure the people are not robbed by their own government.

OOC: ...Sooooo tempting to make a snide remark here, but I won't.

Name (Offical): The Zulu Confederation of African Self-deliberation
Name (Short): The Zulu Impire

Motto: "For the Hearth and the People"

Capital: Anywhere in South Africa slightly away from borders of other players

Development rating: Third World

Economy and Industry: Lighty industrialized. Has homegrown fertilizer and machinery factories to promote an agricultural rebound. Economy powered by precious gem mines such as diamond and gold. The women are allowed jobs to keep industry going as the men fight.

Political setup: A confederacy of local self-appointed chiefdoms and their elected Councilers. The Grand Counciler and the Grand Impi Chief supposidly are equal, but the Councilors can rally the political will easier, while the Impi controls the army. Together they are unstoppable.
Social policy: Largely a liberal and tolerant society.

Foreign policy: The Zulu Impire seeks to control as much as Africa as possible, bringing law, order, schools, and mandatory military draft. They hope to upgrade to a Parliamentary system and are currently hostile to all ex-african colonies as well as non-organized areas.

Army: Mandatroy service of 1 Year frontline or 3 years support for all men from 18-25. Additional service gives pensions, government protection, and promotion. As they have all served sometime or another, they can all be called up with treasury money in case of disaster.

Air force: A largish, but outdated scouting squadrons as well as a few high-tech jets.

Navy: None, they are currently landlocked.

im 50% sure most of that money went to military research, not maintaining an expensive fleet.

ok, proven wrong by Wikipedia. most of the money does go to maintenance.

We are glad to see the Guineans have taken our advice and are working to make sure the people are not robbed by their own government.

i hope Secularist Brazil understands...

by the way, Guinea can only maintain 1 Aircraft Carrier. even at the best of shapes. its cause i said so. more than one Basil Class Super carrier is overkill anyways.

Y'know guys, I was thinkin...

Why do we call Somalia, Sierra Leone, and Liberia 3rd world countries? They're belittling the rest of Africa as well as Asia.

Uh anyway back to the game:

Yeah I have no idea what's going on still.

because these countries are not industrialized properly? Somalia doesn't have a government.

Third world originally referred to states not aligned with the USSR or USA during the Cold war(the USA was the First World and the USSR the Second); after the end of the Cold War, Third World meant poor economic development. Fourth World is even worse and means without a functional government or infrastructure akin to IRL Somalia.

Though I could answer better if I knew what you meant...

Yeah I have no idea what's going on still.

I'm not being paid despite being a financial advisor to some; I'm not being paid despite giving stats to some; etc. :mischief:

USI Political Crisis

Protests from the left and right forced a second election. This time the Communists finished with an even greater share of the votes. The current Prime Minister Iqbal Mirza has already conceeded defeat. The leftist parties, led by the Communists, are now in a position to form government if they stay together. United India and the Liberal Republicans still refused to accept the poll results.

I'll swap for Sahara: too crowded in the south (unless you guys arent taking comers: when are 'orders' due?)
You may want to rethink about the Sahara. France and NATAR (myself) have proposed expansion plans for the African territories. France's proposed area of expansion (PAE) includes all of Algeria and Mauritania (looking at a world map), I believe. I'm taking up basically all of Libya, Niger, and Chad, IIRC (except for the territories already claimed). Macedon (Greece) probably will take all of Egypt.
So...there's really no room, and central Africa is starting to appear red...lolcommunistreference by the Marian Federation...maybe west of Lake Victoria, and around it?

Oh, right. You can start with five territories, and in between each update by Thorvald you claim up to five (read the first post for details).

THe New Confederate States of America (I'm the gray in SE USA) welcomes the Zulu Empire to the world of civilized nations and congratulates them on a confederation government style. Good luck! Oh, and if your looking for allies, I'm trying to set up a international defense organization where we all sign defensive pacts with each other. It would be great for a new nation to join. ;)

I'm might not be able to get on for several days, so don't be surprised if I don't answer to anything. If possibe, I'd like to keep taking Uraguay and then Guatemala, if that's okay to give requests that far ahead.

I'd like to remind anyone interested in joining a mutual defense pact to let me know. Maybe you guys can work together and get something set up by the time I get back. :goodjob:

how *can* you consider that an insult? i never said, implied or suggested anything that can conceivably be interpreted as an insult.

Because I have on multiple occasions defended you, saying that you were working on a clean slate, that Byzantium was gone, and you turn around and say that? I could very easily consider that an insult.

Oh ya, we extend our thanks to the Marian Federation for the 1 billion.

It is our pleasure to assist our allies and strategically-important nations. :hatsoff:

Would you be interested in Portugal? I'm in the process of liberating it from New English scumbags;).

We'd certainly be interested in a piece of it, if no one could guess. Alternatively, we would suggest giving Portugal - or at least part of it - to the secularists should they claim victory over Brazil.

So...there's really no room, and central Africa is starting to appear red...lolcommunistreference by the Marian Federation...maybe west of Lake Victoria, and around it?

We are mostly focused on the former Republics of the Congo, and so this idea might work.

Glad to see everyone else got the reference too. ;)

I think your taking what I said out of context, what I was offering was to give liberated areas to Charles Li who is looking in to joining this game. Alternatively I suppose you could offer Spain to Li if you truly wanted to:p

OOC: Umm umm... I suppose we could always overrun Basque Country and turn that over to him! :mischief: ...yeah.

I'll be quiet now.

Hey, Mad Man, can you post your PAE again?
Thanks.
