Welcome, one and all to the Imperium Offtopicium V: Off-Topic and Other Discussions thread. :) Born out of the massive amount of spam and discussions that plagued IOV, this thread's goal will be to keep the main thread less crowed. In this thread, you will discuss things that doesn't belong in the main thread. Examples of these things would be working out deals, dissusing recent political events, and stating future goals. I will be the official "keeper" of this thread, and any official posts made by me will be in blue. will be in purple. I would like to suggest to the other GMs that I also become a GM, as this thread will likely need the opinion of the other GMs. ;) The same "housekeeping" rules of IOV apply here, except I will be a LOT looser on the Off-Topic part.

Can I discuss anything and everything? Is there a limit to the Off-Topic rule?
Nearly all disscusions will be allowed, so long as you have atleast SOME sort of cause to do so. Don't randomly go off discussing Justin Bieber's new Proactive commercial without SOME sort of cause to do so.

How do I know if something belongs in this thread or the main thread?

Believe me, you'll know. Some examples of things that do belong in this thread:
  • Angerment/ disscusion over Byzantium flip flopping alliances
  • The disscusion of the new Pope
  • Who should control the holy lands

What does not go in this thread:
  • Claims
  • Proposing diplomatic deals (the working out of those deals would go in this thread)
  • Questions to GMs (me excluded, of course.)

If you make a mistake, I or one other the other GMs will gladly tell you so. :)

You do know I have permission from Joecooliyo to start this thread. ;) The other thread advanced 200 posts yesterday.
 
A few things:
Please change the color of your "GM" font. It's burning my eyes.

It's discussion, and Byzantium. Couple of grammar mistakes too. :p Sorry, Grammar Nazi instincts.

And now onto something else, to start something here (this is relevant if you read the thread a couple days ago):
When was glass invented? Mad Man says it's 1977, but of course you will see stained glass in a cathedral. Another says 3500 BC.

Are we supposed to start a thread in the OT forum about who should control Mecca? What alliance Byzantium should take? I am fully confident you have no idea what you're saying.

I wouldn't say it's pointless, this is the place to dump all the junk that doesn't belong in the main thread, i.e. when glass was invented, whether or not the 7 years war was a world war, etc.

It's easier just to send it all to one thread rather then send them to the OT er something.
 
You know, rather than muddying up the forum games with billions of pointless IOT threads, perhaps we could, you know, refrain from idiotic discussion in the first place? It really isn't that hard to simply NOT talk about when glass was invented, or better yet...look it up, or perhaps, go to this thread. I'm with Zack, I really don't see why we need a thread that can easily be satisfied by already established threads/forums/PM...
 
But whenever I break up an off-topic discussion, everyone complains that I'm being too "overbearing" and tough on them.
