Bakuel's Indian units

Are these also Indian units, or are these other civilizations as well?

India only. These are basically different packs covering the subcontinent from medieval era onwards; they can be subdivided into three main categories: Hindi, Dravidian and Islamic invaders (who later converge with Hindis in post-Mughal era). The only stuff that's missing for India are flavor war elephants and great people. I know Bakuel likely was also making other people's various requests to release along with Indian packs, but he didn't send those my way.

I see.

The last time I was still modding, about a year ago, Bakuel did send me those Kushan units for the Kushan cotw I was making. I'm pretty sure he mentioned other civs he was working on, but I don't know how far he got with those, unfortunately.

Thanks to Walter, Pie's Ancient Europe has been featuring a selection of these Indians since its latest update. As the name says, this mod is centered around Europe, but there will be a scenario published during the next days, that sheds a light on ancient India as much more than a footnote in Europe's history. This wouldn't be happening without this terrific base of "available" unit art, that Bakuel created and Walter published first in Realism Invictus.

I'd advise you to take a look at the stuff I posted in this thread. It's much more than we included in RI; your mod may have some use for these additional units.

I understand, that most of the yet unpublished part of Bakuel's Indians extend into post ancient times, but if there's even more ancient related art, we're anxious to see what's more to come.

All ancient stuff has already been posted; it contains much more units than were used in RI - we just didn't have enough unit slots to fill with all this stuff. We picked some representative units from all ages, but many more got discarded - and you can find them in these packs. For example, we didn't use any of Indo-Saka and Kushan units at all, except for one Kushan cataphract for generic cataphract art.

The set is amazing indeed and Bakuel's disappearance is saddening. I've also got these earlier so that I was able to add Islamic & Rajput units to SoI, but it looks like you've got more and I have the workers to add now :)

Sorry for a long hiatus, but I am continuing to upload the units now. Today we have a pre-Mughal pack for early Islamic invaders on Indian territory. It is an ideal pack for Delhi Sultanate, for instance.

walter, thanks for posting those texts too, a little digression always leavens the deadening presence of the game mechanics
