OB08 - Tall Poppy Syndrome

I haven't noticed any problems with saves after switching to 'z' so that should be okay.

Once we have Calendar and a few more cities up, how long would it take to go to BW (with AH in between for that livestock site we planned out)? Would it be viable to wait for copper and Sons of Asena before attacking the orcs?

I can't believe it but I destroyed my report for the second SG in a row

Brief summary based on the screenshots is as follows.

Kandros joins the fray and his troops killed with no losses so we get peace.

Dain checks out

I shadow in some orcs but IBT they all disappear

Meet needles.

We found the mother of all cities.

And an overview.

I had a nice summary of our position and potential plans layed out but its all gone and I can't think of all I said. Basically, do we go BW next and destroy Cassiel and then Sheelba?

Sounds good to me! I don't know that I would have even bothered researching AH, but no matter. Definitely head to BW for the Sons of A. Midgard has to be a drain on Sheelba's tech rate because it's so far away from her capital, so I expect that we'll beat her to BW. Urslo and Fjirgard are pretty good production cities (we should build another mine at the latter), so we should be able to crank out Sons of A pretty quickly.

We might want to build another Worker before a Settler at Fjirgard.

I need to be on permanent skip for about a week. I'll be on the forums tomorrow still, but after that no computer/no internet for some time. I fully expect us to be on stage 3 when I return :).

OK, I'll follow that advise. Will play tomorrow, I think.

Played it to turn 190. Eliminated Cassiel. Pictures a bit later.

Turn 164. The Doviello people can' help but to admire the militiary might of that Grigori fellow, known as Needles, even through they despise the fact that he seems stronger when he's on the defensive. So they don't dare to attack Junon, and are spreading out to pillage the surrounding countryside.

Also, Charadon decides that the famous Lucian would be more useful attacking the enemies' cities, not exploring the wilderness.

Spoiler :

Turn 166. The Doviello are in the Grigori's fat crozz, pillagin' their foodz.
Apparently, that Needles guy couldn't stand to see the destruction of the rice fields next to Junon, so he ferociously attacken the Doviello beastmen. He managed to kill a unit of them, but he was so weakened after it, that another unit of Beastmen easily killed him.

Turn 170. We discover Animal Husbandry, research set to Bronze Working.

Turn 171. Persuaded by the more moderate elements of the Doviello society leaded by Mahala, Charadon agrees to start setting up an elder council in Urslo.

Turn 178. After finishing another unit of Beastmasters in Mortensholm, the Doviello start building a Momument there. They are growing softer, apparently.

Sometime between turn 178 and 188 we produced a Settler.

Turn 188. Using the Chaos mana, the Doviello Shamans had managed to successfully mutate a whole unit of Beastmen produced in Fjirgard.

Spoiler :

Turn 189. Finally, Lucian and some other Beastmen that were produced in the Doviello settlements besieged Junon. Meanwhile, Cassiel had built what a besieged city under the attack of two enemy nations needs the most - three Workers. So that's how all that pillaging payed off!

Turn 190. Lucian and 4 Beastmen units attack Junon. First Beastman loses against a Warrior, second destroys a Scout, third dies, when attacking a Scout, (what a loser), Lucian kills a scout.
Junon now belongs to the Doviello people, with a nice stack of Workers we can upgrade whenever we want. Thanks, Cassiel.

We get 135 gold from capturing Junon, eliminating Cassiel.

(What is the reason for the scouts to have UNITAI_CITY_DEFENSE anyway? I think these City Defense Scouts are responsible for so many early eliminations to the barbarians).

Oh, and one of the Doviello looters founded a strange staff, which, most likely, belonged to one of the fallen Grigori warriors. It gives affinity for Fire mana, which we don't have.

Overview. The Settler party is in the food rich area west of Mortensholm, but I leave the decision of what to do with it to the next player.

Our economy isn't that good.

Acheron made the ruins of the Malakim capital his residence.

It's turn 190, and 5 civs are already eliminated. Jeez.

The save is in the attachment.

Nice Set, Lone Wolf.

We need more workers around Urslo badly.

Roster
Ozbenno:
Lone Wolf: Just Played
darrelljs: Up
ssmage: In Line.
PaulusIII:
Lobsterboy:

With all the cows in Morty (3rd city), it is probably the best production city (11 hammers at size 4). That's why I went AH.

Yeah, it was a good call, Oz. I momentarily forgot how many hammers cows produce.

Nice set, Lone Wolf. I'm not sure that I would have kept Junon due to the drain that it is likely to have on our economy, but we'll probably be OK. With BW, I fully expect that we'll be able to knock down Sheelba. We just might need to be careful how much we abuse her, because I'm not sure that we are going to want to end up playing the Clan to finish the game out.

Tech path (BW-Fest)

Played 60
I forgot to take many screenshots.

Found the city in place, one north whould be better, alas, there is dungeon in the way.

Built about 10 workers, and elder councils with training yards(for happy) all round.

This happened.
Spoiler :

More barb deaths!

Ran out of cash, so declare on Sheebla and take Midgard, In retaliation, Sheebla sends a stack of 6 axes and Rantine on the new city, but is Killed with only one loss.

Built another city.
Koun spawned from the Lanun, who are being killed by the barbs.

(Might we need a lurker to WB some civs back in?)
