has anyone completed a monster deity game with patch 1.29f? by monster i mean a game won with style and no outrageous amounts of luck...a game where u know u are gonna win at least in industrial times (save for a truly unexpected load of bad luck).

Yeah, I'm half way there.;) I'm currently in 1450 AD and I'm about 200 tiles from the domination limit. There is no pure luck in this game; I'm blasting my way to domination (using artillery offensively).:) I currently have 10 active armies of cavalries, more than a dozen of armies in reserve (army without any units in it), 163 artilleries, 89 infantries, 4 destroyers, 3 transports, 5 fighters, and 190 cavalries. I'm destroying about 30 enemy infantries at each turns on the average. Since they still have about 400 infantries, 50 calvaries, 50 warships, and a four dozens bombers left, it will be a bloody war during the next 10 turns. Care to look at my map or save game?;)

Ok, I will upload the screenshots of my game tonight. I thought you may want to take a look at my savegame; I find it very enjoyable to fire my stack of 160+ artilleries. Of course, about half of them would normally miss the target. Nowadays, I'm kind of being able to predict whether or not the next shot will hit or miss. If you just listen to the sound of artillery fire, you may notice that it sounds differently when it comes close to hitting its target. Therefore, by listenning to the current sound, I'm kind of able to tell if the next one would hit or miss (most of the time).:)

Wow! That sounds really sad!:( I need to get a life! Yes, I know...there is more to life than Civ.:(

This is a snapshot of my game in 10AD::D My little empire is the pink color. Olive=Russia; Orange=Britain; Magenta=France; Red=Japan; Green=Aztec; Grey=India; Blue=Germany; Cyan=America; Purple=Iroquois; Greece=not yet discover.

I'm just done uploaded my savegames to my site. It can be located in this folder:

http://www.geocities.com/nancymoonsinger/temp/

If you have time, check it out. The rest of my plan for after 1450AD (1450AD is where I am currently at) will be as follows:

1. Use the two settlers to setup two new outposts within artillery bombardment range of three major Indian cities (including their capital). If possible, destroy those three cities then sign the peace treaty before the end of 1450AD.

2. In the meantime, I'm sending my only carrier to the Japanese Island along with a transport of 5 cavalries and 1 infantries. Currently, I have only 1 bomber; however, more will be built shortly. If all goes well, I'm going to finish off Japan to prevent my cities from flipping back to them.

3. Within 5 more turns, my peace treaty with the Iroquois will expire. Since Germany doesn't want to surrender and their last city is surrounded by the Iroquois empire. I have no choice but to go to war with the Iroquois in order to get to the last city of Germany.

4. Since the Iroquois is currently the world second superpower with a lot of infranties, bombers, fighters, and warships, it will be a fun showdown. Oh btw, India is currently has a mutual protection pact with Germany. Therefore, I'm expecting them to declare war once I attack Germany. I have no fear of the Iroquois, but it will be tough to hold my ground since most of my forces are stationing in my home continent and I have India to worry about.

i see u are still doing the 1000 year blitz.
it's shaped up into a great game considering all the desert and plains u started off on. that'd have been a difficult challenge for me...

The first war with England was really tough. They had a limited supply of horse since I took out their only horse resource during the first strike. After that I waited for them to runout of horse then sent my horsemans to against their spearmans. Just won a couple towns then sued for peace, 20 turns later, I started the war against then sued for peace. The third time, my only army of horseman escorted by a dozen horseman reached London. I was luck out on that one because they were starting to develop pikeman. I took the Great Library in London and got all the techs including education.:) Upgraded my horseman to raider to finish up the English. Without horse, England stood no chance against my raider. (mean while, my civ was in the Golden Age)

The second war with Russian is easy! I noticed that they have certain luxury resource and no horsey, but they do have a lot of pikemans and musketeers. My raiders were great, but I thought they would take heavy lost against musketeers. Since France is between me and Russia, I signed an alliance with France against Russia. The most profitable alliance ever!:) I let the French Musketeer to kill off the Russian Musketeer; when the Russian defenders were down to a few wounded spearmans defending their cities, I sent my raiders to take their cities. Basically, the French fought the war, I just took the cities.:) In fact, I lost only 1 raider during the Russian war. The French Musketeer was great, but the Russian had some invincible bowmans. Since the Rusian got Japan Germany, and India involved, France wasn't much in power after the Russian war. After my alliance with them expired, I decided to take them out too.:)

Well, that was just my first two major wars to get my civ into a power position. After that I played nice with everyone. I paid tribute to Japan to avoid war. In the meantime, the world was in chaos, every countries in the world were at war with America. I used that opportunity to rebuild a city in America next to luxury resource.:) Once I got all 8 luxuries and 'Replacement Parts', even though I was in the fourth position, I knew that I had already won.:)

the great library! oh the great library!

since i can't seem to ever come close to keeping up in tech and they won't trade techs to me i will make it a point to take the great library from anyone that builds it even if for just that one turn to get the techs.

i am having great starts but i completely stagnate before i can get into the middle ages comfortably.

even when i have tons of luxuries and resources for sell they won't trade me any techs.

In most of my games, they are willing to trade with me and they are willing to accept the GPT deal too. However, they are asking for my arms and legs in return. For example, Engineering would cost around 1500+ golds plus the worldmap. Way too expensive if you ask me. I usually just stock up my golds and wait until the end of the war. I find it's easier and sometimes cheaper to trade with them during negotiation for the peace treaty. If two AI civs are at war with each other; chances are the lossing civ is more willing to trade for cheap too. Basically, I just stock up my golds and checking with the AI often. I just make sure that when the time is right and a good deal is offered, I have enough golds for it.
