The first war with England was really tough. They had a limited supply of horse since I took out their only horse resource during the first strike. After that I waited for them to runout of horse then sent my horsemans to against their spearmans. Just won a couple towns then sued for peace, 20 turns later, I started the war against then sued for peace. The third time, my only army of horseman escorted by a dozen horseman reached London. I was luck out on that one because they were starting to develop pikeman. I took the Great Library in London and got all the techs including education.
Upgraded my horseman to raider to finish up the English. Without horse, England stood no chance against my raider. (mean while, my civ was in the Golden Age)
The second war with Russian is easy! I noticed that they have certain luxury resource and no horsey, but they do have a lot of pikemans and musketeers. My raiders were great, but I thought they would take heavy lost against musketeers. Since France is between me and Russia, I signed an alliance with France against Russia. The most profitable alliance ever!
I let the French Musketeer to kill off the Russian Musketeer; when the Russian defenders were down to a few wounded spearmans defending their cities, I sent my raiders to take their cities. Basically, the French fought the war, I just took the cities.
In fact, I lost only 1 raider during the Russian war. The French Musketeer was great, but the Russian had some invincible bowmans. Since the Rusian got Japan Germany, and India involved, France wasn't much in power after the Russian war. After my alliance with them expired, I decided to take them out too.
Well, that was just my first two major wars to get my civ into a power position. After that I played nice with everyone. I paid tribute to Japan to avoid war. In the meantime, the world was in chaos, every countries in the world were at war with America. I used that opportunity to rebuild a city in America next to luxury resource.
Once I got all 8 luxuries and 'Replacement Parts', even though I was in the fourth position, I knew that I had already won.
