Artifacts and works of art icons should be different

Good idea, OP.

I agree with the OP. Actually I kinda want to zoom into the whole screen so one can easily glance at from which civ and era the great works are.

Actually, I thought it would be nice if the Great Works were represented by a picture of what they are - the artifacts (since "minor" by comparison) could just be icons -- beads, statues, weapons, armor, jars, coins, and etc. But, yes, seriously -- give me some visuals!
