So you say 'give me ten turns'..... does the game automatically DOW for you after the ten turns?

Or can you change your mind?

What happens if you do? Big hit with the person who asked you to go to war?

There are times when I agreed with the 10 turns and then didn't do anything aggressive. I wanted the war to occur but didn't want to participate. I'm not sure what penalty I suffered as a result.

I always agree to the give us 10 turns to prepare stuff because on the 9th turn I declare war so I don't get a penalty but I can make peace way sooner, also he/she will still go to war against the common enemy.

So... you can declare war anytime in the ten turns and you still get the diplo boost? Does the original offering AI immediately declare or do they wait until 10 turns?

No, you have to wait 10 turns. The ai will ask you to join the war after 10 turns have passed and time has come.
