Proxy wars

Anyone else who likes waging proxy wars?
I love setting up wars between my toughest opponents and a weaker civ and then feed the underdog with lots of units.
It is nice to be able to knock down my opponents a bit without the unhappiness.
So anyone else doing it? What are the best units to gift etc?

I'll give them ranged units and infantry. and if I have it cash. And I will take a city then give it to another civ. Usually they give you one that is impossible to support anyway.
One time Theodora was down to one city. I started giving her cash and units, signing defensive pacts. When I finally landed on her continent I gave her a couple of cities I captured. I also gave her bomber support so she could retake a couple cities her tormentor had captured. She turned out to be a good Allie in that game
I don't trust the AI civs enough to give them my best weaponry like bombers and tanks.
