I really want a simple utility I can run on the mods folder that can tell that:
Surfal's Kickass Mod That Does Everything (v 412)
-and-
Surfal's Kickass Mod That Does Everything (v 417)
need to be brought to my attention so that I can make sure they're really the same mod and ditch the old one (no auto-ditching because I have, for example, two different Alien Civilization mods that are both named the same).
Civ doesn't like duplicates but sometimes creates them, and I have too many mods (it's an addiction, and I'm aware) to scan and catch them accurately.
There's probably an existing utility that would do this with a regex or something, but I can't find it, and I thought maybe someone here might have already done the legwork and actually accomplished the goal.
