SilliNES3: The Search for Imago

Well I just had Venetians discovering the New World to fit my nation idea and your post does not mention who discovered the New World so I feel I have leeway there. Anyways these ex-colonies aren't even part of you nation so again I feel a bit of fluff in your nation's background which has little impact on your current nation should supersede my entire nation especially when Terrance has said posting order does not matter.

I'm not trying to mess with your idea or anything but this is SilliNES normal NES rules do not really apply.

Given that a failed Reconquista interferes with my vision of widespread Spanish colonization and Catholicization of the New World, I will be moving my application to Minsk.

Minsk Republic / talonschild
Government: Theoretically secular republic
ASP: 10
SpecTech: Nuclear Fission (4), Medicine (7), Education (6), Motorized Transport (4), Air Travel (3), Music (5), Miscellaneous Culture (1)
Army: 50 Brigades
Navy: 25 Squadrons
Air Force: 25 Wings
Unique Unit: Zealots - Price left to the mod. These are men loyal only to the Order and the Archimandrite. Equipped with vehicles - motorcycles, trucks, aircraft of various sizes - and little else, the Zealots' two strengths are their mobility and their ability to use captured equipment. They also carry well-equipped medical kits. Hardly the men to assault a fortress or an enemy line, but if anything else needs doing, particularly in a remote location, short timespan, or with crazy-low odds of success, these are the men for the job. Specialized units exist for emergency medical assistance, covert operations, intelligence-gathering, defending fortifications, and various other tasks. Additional Unique Units will use this as a base from which to build - well, for lack of a better term, prestige classes that are in fact the best in the world at one specific task, rather than merely above average at all of the above.
Background: The monastery at Minsk has stood for over a thousand years, a bastion of stability and hope against calamity. The Republic grew up around it after one such calamity, officially secular and independent, though the Archimandrite holds considerable sway.

Additional Background Detail: Difficult to say without more background - I'd been assuming that all order more or less collapsed during the Russian Revolution. Regardless, some militarily-induced disorder that totally destroyed authority. The monks tended their land, and gave shelter where they could. Eventually the refugees began to rebuild their society, partly to avoid burdening the monks and partly out of a desire for independence from them. The Archimandrite fostered this new state, and build new monasteries in outlying lands, bringing more people into the Minsk Republic. There is a dual power structure, between the more numerous and better-armed democratic civilian government currently headed by President Grigori Ugolnikov, and the more prestigious and better organized order of monks under the Archimandrite Ilia Yemelyanov.

Neighbour Suggestions: At least two military dictatorships successor to Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, or even one of the Baltic states. A few kingdoms (if the PoD is such that kings are still in fashion) or dynastic "republics".
Capital: Minsk

Editted my post on the first page to include spending, Terrance, let me know if its okay please :)

@ Milarqui: I'm not against you or anything (nor am I for you or anything). I have a compromise here I feel you two can consider as a new baseline. This compromise is based both on the fact that Colonies are "Super Reach" lands, and considering details of your applications.

@ Milarqui+merciary

Major Islands Only
Nasri Colonies: Cuba, Jamaica, Florida (Northwestern Carribean)
Nuova Venezia: Hispaniola, Puerto Rico,+Most Minor Islands (Southeastern Carribean)

All Nasri Colonies are independent.
ONE Nasri ex-colony has "Significant" Nuova Venezia merchant presence. All others have different balance of Nasri and Venezia influence.
Most Minor Islands go to Nuova Venezia, who took advantage of Nasri tolerance to dominate them economically before liberation, and consolidated their control after the liberation of Nasri-Carribean holdings.

@ GrandKhan

Everything seems fine EXCEPT for the Popular Guards.

You spent 2 ASP and you have 2 Guards Brigades. I assume you are trying to go for an 1 ASP for 1 Brigade ratio: however, you forgot the free 1 ASP of production. In that case, you should have 3 Guards Brigades.

Also, you need to really consider if you want them to be THAT elite. (nvm. Elite Away. See Iron Marines.). You really need to consider if Brigades are the optimal unit size for such elite units. And I'm reading "Heavy Infantry" as "Elite 'Armored' Infantry" as in "Armored Personnel/Early Helicopter Spec Ops".

The above deal will work for me.

Edited somethings to make my proposal in line with this compromise.

I was thinking something more along the lines of these Guards, but entirely motorized (though not Spec Ops).

They're not spec ops, they're meant to be frontline veteran units, so I assumed brigade would be sizeable enough but its up to you if you think its not appropriate.

Oh. Like motorized front line shock infantry.

I think 1 ASP for 2 Brigades might be better simply because people shouldn't underestimate the effectiveness of standard Brigades and conscript Brigades. 1 Brigade is entirely valid and acceptable expense.

As a note, if someone did something like a "simply" specialized unit like Marines, or just Tanks, or just Infantry, without emphasizing eliteness, that would be 1 ASP for 4 Brigades.

I will probably play as Tamil Nadu.

More to come later.

There are no reservations, only applications. It is #zen.

Exactly.

For example, if someone posted an excellent application for a Papal Empire that's "better" than the GK's, even though GK's came first the better app will win.

There's a couple weeks to go to iron out problems and such.

We're going to vote on what I'm doing!

The former Nasri colony of Mazula gained independence under the Bejaid Emirate, under which the common people were oppressed by an aristocratic nobility. Despite this it leveraged its massive population and natural resources to forge an empire stretching from Alaska to Panama. Eventually the oppressed common man rose up, overthrowing the autocracy and establishing the Socialist People's Jamahiriya, beginning the perpetual revolution against the decadent regimes of the infidels. But is the Jamahiriya truly different from the monarchy it replaced, or have the Mazulan people just traded one oppressor for another?

Or, perhaps, Rome never truly fell. The Roman Empire lurched from crisis to crisis throughout the past thousand years, taking shattering blows but never truly crumbling. But the imperial throne wasn't able to navigate the horrors of the 20th century, being overthrown by a populist revolt that established the Hellenic State. But democracy is not the quick and easy path, and strong figures have stepped in seeking to forge the Hellenes into a totalitarian state, and once again the cradle of democracy languishes under autocracy. The ruling strategoi walk the fine line between authoritarianism and populism, promising the true realization of democracy while working to bring about the creation of an absolutist state unprecedented in history and terrible in its capacities.

But, alternatively, in the great Eurasian steppe there is another nation. After centuries of foreign rule and autocratic oppression the Russian people have claimed their rightful destiny, establishing a Russian Republic in the ashes of a former empire that promises a joint future of prosperity and liberty to All the Russias. Hundreds of millions of voices, in a single representative democracy, all seeking to achieve the frustrated ambitions of generations of their ancestors. But already reactionary and extremist forces are seeking to co-opt the young nation and turn it into the very thing it revolted against.

So, what am I going to be? Mexican Communist, Greek Fascist, or Russian Democrat?

@Terrance888, merciary: that deal is acceptable to me. I had already modified my backstory to move the Puerto Rico colony to Florida, anyway.

@Shadowbound: Nasri colonies in the continent were limited to Central America and Florida. Also, Mexico is already taken. The Hellenic State or the Russian Republic sound good, though. Perhaps the Hellenic State could be left to christos200 if he comes.

Mexico's been abandoned and replaced by Minsk, so its free.

I'm actually pretty interested in the Jamahiriya. We might as well go maximal socialist out here. Russian Republic is pretty cool too.

Spoiler application :

Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Australia/NinjaCow64
Government: Communist Orwellian Hellhole Democratic Republic of the People and the Workers
ASP: 10
SpecTech: Glorious Australian Workers’ Factory Technology (15 ASPs invested)
Army: 50 Brigades 40 GAPA Brigades (UUs)
Navy: 50 Squadrons
Air Force: 50 Wings
Unique Unit: Glorious Australian People’s Army (GAPA) Brigades [Works the same as conscripts but I am able to build them without enacting conscription or with economic penalties. They are slightly more expensive, with the cost being 1 ASP per 8 Brigades. Manpower problems may still apply.]

Australian soldiers are strong and do not require things that weak British capitalist scum require, such as footwear, food and ammunition. The British pigs are fat, stupid and ugly, our soldiers will frankly be doing them a favour when they smash their bare feet against their puny little mouths. Glory to Australia!

Background: Basically, Australia was taken over by a dickhead. Australia’s workers and people were enslaved by the evil British Capitalistic pigs for hundreds of years, enduring hardships that no man should have to endure. But then came the savour of the Australian People, Supreme Leader Robert Menzies, he singlehandedly liberated the people of Australia by defeating an army of 1 million British soldiers whilst being unarmed, blindfolded and only using his left hand while simultaneously making a meat pie for every person in Australia, a dish that was certainly invented by our supreme leader and definitely not invented by British cooks in the middle ages. After driving the British pigs out of Australia, our supreme leader established the Democratic People’ Republic of Australia, the greatest country on Earth. However, the British were jealous of our wealth, our freedom and our birds (as they ate all of theirs because they are poor, hungry and stupid), so the decided to send spies to attempt to make our country as bad as theirs. So the people of Australia must be vigilant and report any British spies, if anyone complains about life in Australia then report them! They are a British spy as everyone knows that life is perfect in Australia. They also invaded our neighbour, New Zealand, so now we fight to liberate our brothers from the foul British capitalist oppression. Our Supreme Leader Robert Menzies dreams that one day the rest of the world will be as free and wealthy as Australia, that the Capitalist pigs will be defeated and the workers of the world will fly the Australian Communist flag proudly. But he can only do it with your help! Join the Australian People’s Liberation Army today!

Neighbor Suggestions: Some poor New Zealand state(s) that have the misfortune of being our neighbours. Make that Australian state(s) if I don’t get the rest of Australia Evil British Capitalist puppet nations, that oppress the people and the workers of their nation! We must liberate them!
Capital: Canberra
Core Lands: ACT/NSW/Victoria region of Australia
Reach Lands: The rest of Australia, I’d gladly take opinion and/or economic penalties to gain it.
Colonies: Nope.avi
Preferred Colour: Communist Red

State Trappings:

Flag (Warning Large Image):

Portrait of Supreme Leader Robert Menzies:

OOC: If you haven’t guessed, strikethrough is what is actually going on, non-strikethrough is just over the top government propaganda. Hopefully this is silly and funny without being stupid. :)

Quick question, if you discontinue a UU, does that reduce the number of active UUs thus reducing the cost for creating new UUs?

Republic of Tamil Nadu/mrrandomplayer
Government: Capitalist Democracy
ASP: 10
SpecTech: Economy(15), Faster Ship/Plane Engines(5)
Army: 60
Navy: 45
Air Force: 45
Unique Unit: Lightning Cruiser. Much faster than regular cruisers. They come in small groups.

Invented recently by a brilliant Tamil engineer, Lightning Cruisers are known throughout the world as the pinnacle of a quick, efficient, but still battle-worthy ship. In wartime, they are used as merchant convoys and also as a method to destroy enemy navies before they can seriously get into action. In peacetime, however, they can easily be converted into fewer-armed merchant ships, and many MC captains are both merchants and naval officers.

Background: For many centuries after the original Chola Golden Age, the Chola empire continued to serve as the dominant power in southern India, driving back the Muslims out of central India and into North India. However, during the late 1700s, a democratic revolution occurred and the Republic of Tamil Nadu was proclaimed a new state. Over the next two centuries (if it is 1950 now), the Tamils annexed a few islands and ports in East Asia and the Middle East to allow their merchants to trade further distances, all the way into Europe. When communist revolutions occurred all over the world, the Tamil economy experienced a mild recession, but it is still going strong to this day.

Neighbors: Probably Js_9001's Indian state in the north, as well as the neighbors of Tamil colonial holdings.

Capital: Thanjavur

Core Lands: Tamil Nadu (in orange on the map)
Reach Lands: the rest of South India (in red on the map)
Colonies: Socotra, Bahrain (to trade with Arab powers), Singapore, Hong Kong (to trade with East Asia). Shown in yellow.

Map (most of the colonies are very hard to see)

You're not my real Muslim dad.
