Background: Lasting until the advent of fascism, the often warring Danish-Norwegian-Scottish triple kingdom was toppled by a military-backed fascist coup in the early 20th century. The Norse people had embraced colonialism as a mission to civilize, and many by the early 20th century adhered to the principles of scientific racism, and the inherent superiority of the Norse race. The coup capitalized on these sentiments, overthrew the monarchy, and centralized all parts of civil society into the ideological engine of Norse Socialism, or Norsos, under the supreme command of direktør Lunde.

History: Norwegian colonization of the Hebrides, the Isle of Mann, Orkney and Shetland began the process which eventually led to the conquest and integration of Scotland under Norway. The dual monarchy had very friendly relations with the Danish monarchy to its south, which held onto Danelaw in England for a long period, and kept the Swedes at bay with their holdings in Skane (and the surrounding territory), and through royal marriage, formed a triple monarchy in the 1600s. Though rebuffed from the new world, Norse colonization of west Africa, east Africa allowed it huge boons in trade, but by the end of the 1800s, the strains of industrialization, and the pains of numerous European conflicts had spurred on radical right-wing racist organizations. Espousing the need for racial purity, and the inherent superiority of the Norse race, the right wing Norsos Party, under the direction of Dr Karl Lunde, professor of national biology in Oslo, led a military backed coup, to crush separatists in Scotland and Denmark which the monarchy wasn’t hitting hard enough (in the military’s eyes), and meanwhile implement a radically futurist ideological platform across the country.

is there a map some were showing what people own? because i was thinking of adding a bit more land to my core lands.

@Terrance, your "Empire of Bohemia" proposition fills me with rage.

Milarqui, what do you think about Aragon's status vis-a-vis the SUDS?

Aragon would be willing to ally with the SUDS against Fascist Castilla (which would be controlling Navarre). Just wondering why would Aragon just up and join the SUDS without a by-your-leave (there must have been good reasons for that).

Also, wishing to point out that I am sorta capitalist.

So? Do something about it :p

Put your brain where your fingers are and come up with a better idea.

Spoiler :

Magyar Republic
Founded following the failure of the United Kingdom of Hungary-Bohemia thanks to Roman populist interference, the Magyar republic was born of a military coup and seizure of power by the Royal Army. In the wake of the insurrection, Roman seizure of coastal assets nullified the pull of the aristocratic, pro-monarchy Royal Navy, and served to consolidate the power of the new presidential dictatorship by general Mihaly Apostol. Apostol's new "Magyar Republic" made a hasty peace with Rome in order to retrench itself against threats on its northern border from the Saxon Technocracy. Built around the "third way" philosophy of Apostolism, the Magyar Republic has been successful in establishing a significant army and manufacturing industry and is determined to reclaim the glory of the Magyar people.

Spoiler :

Saxon Technocracy
The populist insurrections in Europe took a significant toll on monarchical authority. The Kingdom of Saxony had established itself over such geopolitical lightweights as Prussia and Poland thanks to its burgeoning industrial sector. Technological progress followed, as Saxony became a hotspot of innovation, particularly in the arenas of war and military medicine. Expansion of the royal domains continued apace throughout the 19th century towards the middle of the 20th, and the threat of Polish and Pomeranian nationalism was vanquished by the meteoric quality of life enjoyed by Saxon citizens. However, a power struggle between the increasingly-dilapidated monarchy and the powerful captains of industry and government technocrats ultimately resulted in a military seizure of power and the ascendancy of the "Supreme Technocrat" who rules Saxony with an iron fist. The significant military of the former Kingdom of Saxony, previously held in check by the monarchy's commitment to alliances and compacts with neighboring royal houses, was mobilized for nationalist sabre-rattling against the Magyar Republic and other neighbors, and the east European balance of power was irrevocably changed.

Spoiler :

Imperium of Mauritana
Seeing an opportunity to achieve renown and power beyond his own small borders, the King of Mali proclaimed himself "Imperator of Mauritania" in the wake of the Roman populist revolts, and led his armies on a campaign of conquest against remaining colonial strongholds in western Africa. Establishing an "Imperium" based around worship of himself as some kind of quasi-pagan avatar of god and the power of the Imperial Army, Mauritania styles itself as a "Latinate-African republic". Why the Imperator chose to try to straddle the distance between deified absolutism and republicanism is uncertain, though it has attracted some helping of foreign investors who would otherwise have found it difficult to condone his regime.

Kingdom of Liberia
Named for liberty, the Kingdom of Liberia was founded by Scottish merchants who saw open land in Africa as an opportunity for the creation of a private, slave-trade paradise where they might be "free" from the machinations of the King of Denmark, Norway and Scotland. The Kingdom has survived as a "slavocracy" under the command of the "King and Liberator of Liberia" who serves a landed gentry which is concerned primarily with maintaining their profits, their plantations and the safety of their lives in the face of aggression from neighboring native states like the Imperium of Mauritania and the Free Voltanian Confederacy.

Free Voltanian Confederacy
Established following the ousting of colonial overlords, the various tribes of the Volta created a confederation between themselves in order to "protect against the white devils in Liberia" and maintain their way of life in the face of "aggression from the Christian Mauritan" and "wicked Benin". The Voltanian Confederacy has remained a state in large part due to outside threats, as otherwise the contentious native tribes would fight internecine conflicts among each other to avenge ancient wrongs.

Republic of Benin
The closest thing in the region to a unitary, republican state, Benin was given its independence by [insert somewhat benevolent colonial power here] and proceeded to safeguard its freedoms by establishing a large citizen army, granting its Prime Minister the power to "wage war in order to ensure the freedom of all men" and turning inward. The development of domestic manufacturing industries has assisted Benin in achieving worldwide renown, but it is known more for its military and its tradition of civic duty than anything else.

NOTE: I am aware the Kingdom of Liberia is actually in Sierra Leone. That's kind of the point.

The S.U.D.S would be willing to aid against the greater enemy. Consider our alliance reality; even though you have taken the bath of greed with the capitalist route over the path of the community we hope in time to convince not with bullets but words (viva la generous donations to your local democratic socialist part or a social democrat at the least) and we are eager to face enemies of wroth, especially fascists.

As for Aragon and the S.U.D.S: the idea was a normative of nations that sprung out of revolutionary commitment. After the splitting of France there was great efforts to reunite it; the efforts however saw a shattered uniformity and hence a desire of national autonomy. The federal framework hence was set for a French context. It extended beyond France with the vision and excitement of a great march of the "Great Democratic Mission" to democratically bring into the darkness of the world the light of socialism, set not by the corruption of the authoritarian government of Austria but the light of the collective made up of its members and empowering them all.

We will not take insult to Aragon's independence if it must be so however, so long as we maintain good relations in our struggle against oppression as we seek to emancipate the world.

In an attempt to round out North America (without messing with my cores or reach lands (also changed the Union's color)):

Spoiler :

Al-Tksas

Even as the Nasri Caliphate continued the forward march of progress, many of its Muslims yearned for a return to simpler times. Labeled the Salafis, meaning "Predecessors," this reactionary sect called themselves the Hajji, meaning "Pilgrims." The Hajji looked to the New World for a land in which they could practice Islam as it was meant to be in peace. They settled in a land called Al-Tksas, and then subordinated a large indigenous majority through superior firepower. After eventually gaining its independence from the Caliphate, Al-Tksas continues to ruthlessly oppress the native majority, forcing them to live in shantytowns while the Hajji live in luxury in enclosed cities. All within Al-Tksas, whether Muslim or not, are governed by a strict interpretation of Shari'a Law, and those who continue to practice indigenous beliefs are severely oppressed. The Hajji maintain a large military, both to keep the native within suppressed and to prevent any outside intervention that would end their way of life. They look upon the Union of Free Nations as an existential threat, as the Union sees the Hajji's treatment of the natives within Al-Tksas as an abomination. For now though, the two nations are at peace, as Al-Tksas controls the mouth of the Mississippi River at New Corduba, granting them control of trade throughout the Great Plains.

The Associate Nation of Al-Mwldyn

Those who are of mixed Arab and native blood are called Mwldyn by the Muslims, and the Mwldyn have become numerous, especially in Al-Tksas. They are oppressed there however, as most are results of infidelity on the part of Hajji men, and many Mwldyn maintain their mother's indigenous beliefs. Many Mwldyn have therefore fled north, so many that they began to outnumber the native tribes. Unlike their Hajji forefathers, the Mwldyn worked with the natives, and with the support of the Union of Free Nations they have made a state in the Northern Plains, where almost all now are of mixed Arab and native blood. Al-Mwldyn is an Associate Nation of the Union, and enjoys the Union's protection and favorable trade conditions.

The Associate Nations of Niimiipu, Pomo, and Apache

The aggression of absolutist states like the Tsardom of Alaska and Al-Tksas struck fear into the hearts of many west coast natives, who have found security under the umbrella of the Union of Free Nations' Associate Nations system. These countries enjoy the protection of their sovereignty by the Union, and have strong trade connections with the Union as well. The Great Railroad connects these nations with the Union through Al-Mwldyn, a country with which all of the west coast tribes enjoy favorable relations.

I can make more nations once I have a better idea of how much of my reach I can get.

Excellent NPC ideas! There will be changes, of course, but I thank you very much with aiding the world building process.

Notes:
Saxony->Silesia
England->Saxonreich->Saxonrey
Some Central German scraps. Maybe some starting minors for early conflict.

@ m.t.cicero. Ok, I get it. You are a sympathetic nation of freedom. That does not automatically give you hegemony over North America. :p Same way the US doesn't get automatic hegemony over Central America (it had to work for it.) That said, I'm OK with starting with the playing field, diplomatically wise, tilted in your favor IN THAT INSTANCE.

Anyway, IIRC Immaculate had an Californian NPC in the making. Iggy also was working on something in the Yukon area. Not certain for any of this though.

However, for the area between Al-Tksas and "Florida" will be some kind of independent native state. So you should consider the entire southern coastline to the Gulf barred off. The interior I'll let you decide whether to annex, or to leave to a Cherokee associate nation.

Headcanon (not official yet or by any means!) says that both the borders of the Free Nations and the Free Associaties fluctuated, and the Free Nations generally avoided meddling with inter-Associate wars unless there comes a clear winner. The Free Nations thus, slowly annexed matured associates with stabilized borders, while those with greviences and claims remain outside of the Free Nations for stability's (and local pride's) sake.

The cleverness of arbitrarily elevating archaic fiefdoms like Silesia to nation-state status is greatly overstated.

NPC Ideas:

Holy Domain of R'Lyeh
Stretching from New Zealand to New Caledonia, from Hawaii to the Pitcairns, and spanning the unholy domain of Antarctica, these utterly heathenous cultists have but one goal in mind: summoning their believed master Cthulhu and raising his sunken domain of Mu.

Their navy and territory is the only reason anyone takes them seriously, but recently, scientists have realized what might happen if they get their hands on enough sacrificial captives. After all, believe in something hard enough and back it up with enough blood........

Every man, woman, child, and fish-man, fish-woman, and fish-child is a fanatic, literally tearing their hearts out if they believe their proto-god requires it. R'Lyeh, believed by them to lie at the bottom of the sea about 50 miles west of Sydney is where they know their scion to lie, and they will protect this location at all costs.

The main difficulties facing them are the lack of significant manpower reserves outside of Hawaii, New Zealand, and Antarctica, lack of modern technology or industry, inefficiency and lack of power outside of coastal or island regions, and a constant need for new sacrificial captives.

However, any wise man knows well the fearful extent of their powerful magecraft, their alien allies (the Mi-Go, and a tenuous alliance at best), and the utter madness which drives them in their insatiable quest for the return of Cthulhu and their heinous mission to set the stars right.

Whats wrong with Bohemia?

Still, I can get behind a sort of merger between the Magyars and Bohemia, in terms of Bohemia's function in the world history we've got so far. Though personally I imagined that the Adriatic coast would have been taken by the Romans from Venice in the late 1700s/early 1800s during the formation of the Roman Republic - given that Venice was a huge player right up until this point, it seems a bit weird for it not to have a really strong maritime control.

Also, the Union is relatively recent - its not going to be more than twenty years old.

Hold on a second, if the Supreme Sinosphere Prosperity Pentagon is being stolen from SillyNES the Second, that must mean that SillyNES the Third must be in the same universe as the previous two SillyNESes! Everyone should look out for Space Nazis Germans if that's the case...
