From: The Great Iraqi State
To: The Russian Theocratic Tyranny

Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Dagestan, Chechnya, Karachai, Cherkassia, Abkhazia, Kabardino, Balkaria, Ingushetia, and Ossetia are not Russian in blood or in nature. It is highly advised that the new Russian state stays out of the Caucasus for fear of Russia once more sparking great instability and violence in regions which are not theirs to meddle in. Any Russian attempts to coerce the Caucasian peoples into unjust and unconditional union with the Russian tyrants is to be viewed as a direct threat to Iraq, and presumably Turkey and Pakistan as well, and will be met with accordingly heavy military action.

From Russia
To Iraq

The same terms on which you call us a tyranny makes your own government tyrannical. Rather than mere assertions, perhaps you should back up your claims about these people with actual arguments?

It is only natural that you of all people should be mistaken on these things, however. Iraq is an artificial state, occupying the lands of several different people. Or do you think we have forgotten about the Kurds? At least in Turkey these people would have prosperity- under you alone would they face pure tyranny.

Even the population of the Russia we control is higher than Iraq's. But what if we were to recruit our brothers in Caucasia? Do not attempt to fight a war you cannot win. Back down, and confine yourselves to what you have.

If you are willing to do so, we are willing to offer incentives. If you are willing to help us we can offer not only free trade with Russia, but subsidies to help rebuild your reigme. As the old saying goes, we can beat swords into plowshares.

(OOC: I'm willing to spend 1 point of Economy subsidising you if you help me take the Causacus back)

@Neverwonagame3: Economic/Military Policies are not commodities, you cannot trade them, actually, you're thousands of kilometers away from Iraq - so you can't trade anything anyway.

To: The Russian Autocratic Papal States
From: The Great Iraqi State

First off, calling the people of the Caucasus Russian 'brothers' is downright insulting, and if it stands to Baghdad to show as such, then we will.

Second off, various Arabs, Iranians, and Kurds live under the benevolent rule of the Glorious King of Iraq and are quite content, thank you very much.

Meanwhile, Russians, Little Russians, White Russians, Tartars, Turks, Kipchaks, Finns, and presumably in the near future, Caucasians, Kazakhs, Turkmens, Uzbeks, Mongols, Romanians, Lithuanians, Estonians, Latvians, and Poles as well, to be ruled by the unloved Muscovite regime.

From Russia
To Turkey
We must look to our own house first, so we can help you expand not only to Turkey's former borders but throughout the Middle East.

The true tyrants here are not those by unproven name, but those by visible practice. Russian support for Turkish dominion over Kurdish and Arab lands is proof of this, as well as plans for Russian dominion over various, disjointed, fiercely unique groups across Eurasia.

The arithmetic stands quite comfortable to Baghdad here.

To: Republic of Turkey, Pakistan

Look. We need to talk.

It makes more sense for military orders at least to be secret, but...

Diplomacy:

From Russia
To Iraq

First, look at the groups you include. Several are called "Russians", putting the lie to your claim. Look at the others carefully.

-If some of them really were Turks, the Turkish government would appeal for them. We might consider the claim if they actually did.
-Lithuania, Lavitia, and Estonia are artificial states imposed by Germany during the First World War. There was once a Lithuanian people, but they were destroyed by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and are no more. There is no historical evidence to suggest their viability.
-As for the others, most of them you have practically no evidence for calling them seperate peoples. For those you do, such as the Romanians and Poles, Russia intends to defend their independence and reestablish their nations as soon as we have restored our own

Second, your claims are hypocritical. You use military force to maintain rule over what you admit are seperate peoples, giving them no democratic elections by which to test your claim. Then you condemn us for allegedly (not in actuality, I might point out) using force to take control over other peoples?

Third, the first duty of a leader is to his own people. The choice for the Middle East is between the benevolent dominion of Turkey and the tyrannical dominion of Iraq. Sometimes a leader must make the hard choices.

The Caucasus Russians are brothers- as will be proved on the battlefield.

Orders:

Economic:
-1 point into Agriculture
-1 point into Industrial Goods

The economic strategy will be to try and create an agricultural surplus. Once said surplus exists, migration to the cities will be subsidised to encourage industrial growth (also through government subsidy).

Some of the industrial resources will used on creating a new, modernised Siberian Railway. It's objective will be to be as efficient as our technology allows in crossing to the Far Eastern Republic, to put pressure on them to accept a union.

Any contested regions of Caucasia will be prioritised in government subsidy, in order to win popular support.

Military:
-1 point into Economic over Military
-1 point into Army

The army will prioritise expansion into the Caucasian regions in order to fight the Iraqi forces. We will win hearts and minds by promising high subsidies, allegedly to compensate for the region's time in anarchy. Voting rights should also help with this.

We don't care for those lands which weren't part of the former Soviet Union. Although we will attack across the border when doing so is in our strategic interests, we have no desire to take said lands- ultimately, our goal is to secure the former Soviet borders and no more.

A secondary priority will be expanding into Siberia. Securing all of it is irrelevant for the moment- we just want to secure a land route to the Far Eastern Republic, both for communications and to threaten war in the future.

Government:
The theocratic state begins to have a conflict between the ideological power of democracy and the theocrat class's desire to stay in power. Eventually, a compromise is made.

A democratic Parliament exists, along with a mostly independent judiciary and Civil Service. However, the judiciary is bound to interpret the theocrat-written Constitution literally (that is an explicit term of the Constitution)- if their decisions are highly implausible, they are ignored (like in most constitutions, no formal judicial review exists). The Constitution also goes for thousands of pages so as to accomodate every possible contingency, is formally an Orthodox Christian Constitution, and even gives Constitutional powers to the Will of God.

The theocrats maintain power over the Army in order to prevent a coup, but the democratically elected Executive is given power over domestic affairs. Freedom of speech exists in the Constitution except in cases of defaming an individual not in public office or defaming God himself- the theocrats are not immune. The theocrats have a veto over policy but by convention only use it when the policy is clearly immoral from the perspective of Orthodox Christian theology.

The final area of theocrat power is Christianity itself- although there is no legal compulsion to be Christian, a set portion of the budget is taken for propaganda to convert non-Christians. This includes subsidising works which encourage Christianity or discourage non-Christianity.

Judges are selected by the theocrats, not the Executive, when their terms of office are up. The democratically elected Legislative (NOT the Executive) may give a vote of no confidence in a candidate, in which case the theocrats select another. The Legislative have a hundred vetoes every year avaliable to them- so this cannot happen indefinitely, but if necessary a long standoff can occur.

South Africa history 2020-2100

Even in the years past the 20st century the Republic of South Africa was always struggling with it economy due to very high unemployment rate and the poor having limited access to economic opportunities and basic services. The high levels of unemployment and inequality was considered by the government and most South Africans to be the most salient economic problems facing the country during this century. Guangdong Orders

The People's Republic of Guangdong was born of the collapse of the People's Republic of China during the great Crisis. Local party bosses were able to create an oasis of sanity in the south, keeping out the wandering marauders and anarchy in the rest of China. Guangdong swelled with the arrival of refugees from across China and South-east Asia, allowing the local party elites to carve out a small PRC in their new base of power in southern China.

Economic Policies
1 Point into Agricultural growth - The People's Republic of Guangdong places the survival of the working-classes first above all else. Man cannot labour while he and his family go hungry. This, a great amount of effort and resources is placed by the Party into converting the countryside back to prime farming land so that all may be fed and clothed in the new utopia the Party is building. All hail our glorious Leaders, and their foresighted practices that put food on our tables and clothes upon our children!
1 Point into Infrastructure Renewal - Guangdong must have electricity for it to be strong! Roads must be built, and raillines constructed, to ensure transport to where things must go. The State must provide these things, for the benefit of the People. Thus, the Party encourages the renewal of infrastructure, so that electricity will flow to all and power be provided, as well as roads across Guangdong so goods may be moved to all parts of the nation!

Military Policies
1 Point into Emphasising Army - We live in a hostile earth, where marauders and foreign exploiters strike without warning. The Popular Army of Guangdong must be strong to resist these threats, and protect our agriculture and infrastructure!
1 Point into Emphasising Economy over Military - every gun made represents a theft from the mouths of our people. Every bullet fired is a meal stolen from the mouths of our children. Agriculture and Industry must grow, or all shall starve!

Settlement and Expansion
The Central Political Bureau of the People's Republic of Guangdong directs its settlers and colonists north, towards the fertile banks of the Yangtze river, to establish agricultural colonies and settlements and bring even more bounteous food back to the People's Republic in the South, as well as establish local municipalities and provinces of their own. This is the highest priority - all colonial efforts are directed towards colonising the area between the Yangtze and the People's Republic, as well as the Yangtze itself.

China Guangdong will grow larger!

South Germany - Shadowbound
Government: Technocratic Dictatorship
Colour: Light Blue
Size: Secondary Power

Background

In the last European Dark Age, the Catholic Church wielded immense power through its monopoly on education and historical records. Clergymen were necessities to rulers, both for their spiritual influence over the population but also because they were a nonpartisan, educated class vital to the management of a state. In the 21st century, as the focus of the Catholic Church had long since shifted away from the preservation of knowledge, the role as safekeepers of human knowledge fell into the hands of the great university-states, which were sufficiently large and self-sufficient enough that they could continue operating despite a lack of support from secular powers.

The largest and most successful university-state in Europe was the Technische Universität München, considered one of the best universities in the world before the collapse. With a student, faculty, and employee body of 50,000 in 2010, which would swell to 200,000 by 2050, the Technical University was a state unto itself. It was also a formidable military force, as the Minister-President-cum-Kaiser of Bavaria discovered when his militias were decimated by armored vehicles and helicopters assembled by the University’s engineers.

This technical knowledge would grant the technokrats much greater influence over the state than the Catholic Church, as, where the Church had preserved historical knowledge and language, the University preserved physical science and engineering. Knowledge had become power, and the Bavarian Free State, re-established in 2054, retained a degree of central control and prosperity that its neighbors envied. Baden-Wurttemberg and Austria imitated the technocracy present in Bavaria, bringing their own university-states into the government along similar lines.

The close coordination between the three technocratic states would lead to the formation of the Suddeutscher Bund in 2095, the formalization of the close cooperation that had already existed between the university-states of the region. The new Bundeskanzler, while linked to the aristocracy of the Austrian state, was educated as a chemical engineer, and brought a similar mix of academics and technocrats into power.

Economy Policies

Infrastructural Renewal x2

The maintenance and restoration of pre-existing infrastructure was the main focus of the Bund throughout the 2100 and 2110s, as the greater state resources placed in the hands of technical specialists were directed towards rebuilding the neo-feudal states that had developed.

Military Policies

Emphasize Tech Branch
Emphasize Economy over Military

Major defense expenditures were not a focus of the federation during its early years, being insulated by the Alps from its major competitors. What military forces did exist were primarily well equipped, with a substantial support network and excellent training.

Expansion

While lacking major military power, the Bund will use its technical expertise and university-ties to spread into the North European Plain. Communities will be influenced into organizing and joining the federation through demonstrations of the benefits gained from the technocratic system, which offers real improvements in the standard of living. Hearts and minds.

Russia is one and undivided. Two states may exist for the moment, but the Russian people are one people. Once it becomes possible, the two states must be united into one.

However, the nature of the one Russian state is open to negotiation. The Far Eastern Republic, just as our Russian Theocracy does, represents a portion of Russia. When the time comes for union, the nature of the Russian state must be decided by all.

(OOC: We could do a co-player thing or something)

The Eastern Republic will contemplate your idea and weight it on it's own merits.

This NES looks good Stockholme, but I think I would rather pick something up after the BT's :)

Zeletdude, grab Venezuela while you can!

Noted Azale, you've been removed from the stats, hope to see you around later.

In other news, I've received 11 ordersets of 22 countries, so we're at 50% sent with 7 days remaining.

Maybe for the next BT, you should accelerate the timer to keep the momentum and interest high- since we are in a pre-game phase anyway.

I agree, it'll be easy to keep a high pace after Wednesday - I set that as the deadline because that's my RL deadline my last term paper.

Orders
The New Republic of Mexico - BILLSIF
Government: Leftist Republic-leaning
Colour: Light Green
Size: Secondary Power

Economy Policies:

1 Point - Agricultural growth

Mexico's major urban populations were devastated by the plague during the middle of the 21st century. The Shantytowns where much of the urban poor were corralled into became breeding pits for the plague to spread rapidly. Naturally, a great uncontrolled migration began as the masses spread out from overcrowded cities and spread out into the countryside.
It was this massive rural population that was given priority among the new policies of the New Republic. While unable to either locally produce or purchase manufactured fertilizers, the New Republic heavily encouraged, subsidized and educated on the diversification of crops, the use of renewable energies and irrigation of arid areas. These policies allowed a great number of Mexican families to rise from merger subsistence farming.

Military Policies:

2 Points - Emphasize Army

During the early days of the New Republic, a regional armed militia had formed the basis of the the Mexican Army. As a national professional army was widely regarded as "threat to the people's freedoms", or "anti-revolutionary." However, general opinion shifted rapidly after the threat which the major threat the Northern Warlords posed to the New Republic became apparent. As massive expenditures were poured into the development of a united national army during the early 22nd century.

Settlement and Expansion

While the military dictatorship of Mexico proved able enough to keep much of Mexico, relatively stable, the North was not so fortunate. As Mexico suffered an economic and civil breakdown the North quickly descended into anarchy, the area quickly becoming a patchwork of feuding gangs and small warlord fiefdoms. Once the New Republic had sorted its domestic situation it out, a major priority was to bring these fiercely independent groups to heels. This "Reconquista" was particularly focused along the Gulf of Mexico, and the Gulf of California.

Orders coming later tonight, placeholder post for the moment to still show that I am here.

Republic of Turkey/mrrandomplayer
Color: the color on the map
Government: Liberal Secular Republic
Economic Policies:
1 Point Infrastructure Renewal, 1 Point Industrial Growth
1 Point Tech Military, emphasizing technology over brute force.

Expansion: Reclaim European Istanbul and European Turkey. Make Istanbul the capital when finished.

Brief History: The Republic of Turkey managed to survive to this day without falling into civil war and collapsing like many other nations, but it did have to abandon lots of its Eastern territories to enemy countries and rebels. A Kurd uprising left Turkey without its southwest, and other areas were abandoned. However, in Ankara, a liberal Atatürk-idolizing party was voted into power. It fully secularized the government and started to emphasize technology, education (especially about the Byzantines, Ottomans, and early Modern Turkish Republic), and growth, like Atatürk would (or so they say). Right now, Turkey stands ready to reclaim the glory of its past years.

The Lombard League Orders

Economic Policies
1 Point – Agricultural Growth
1 Point – Infrastructural Renewal

Military Policies
1 Point - Emphasize Army
1 Point - Emphasize Economy over Military

Wars of Aggression
We will remain at peace for the foreseeable future.

Settlement and Expansion
- As we control access to the Italian peninsula, expansion to the south can proceed at our leisure. Reclaim Rome, to be sure, if only for propaganda purposes, and slowly advance into the fertile lands of southern Italy.

-Our main push will be across southern France, as we spread across Occitania, ending with our northernmost point being La Rochelle. Begin heavy settlement across Massif Central and Aquitaine. Secure our southern border along the Pyrenees, but send feelers into Iberia to begin preparing it for settlement.

-From our base in Greece, overtake the Peloponnese and begin moving towards Athens.

-What forces we have will accompany our settlers and eliminate any resistance with extreme prejudice.
