Rising Sun: Civilisations of Old Japan (Updated for 2017!)

This mod needs some SERIOUS reorganizing. Nothing is where you expect it to be.
Leaders.xml has only 10 leaders, the rest is nowhere to be found. Same or worse with civs.xml, etc.

I'm attempting to make the leader traits, but I can't even find how are the leaders called in XML to do so... gonna have to check every single file this way :S

If I remember right, civs were released in batches as the mod progressed and each batch had its own section of files.

yeah I've found them eventually...

I've copied over piece of JFD's code to get an example of how Civ4 traits work and made 16 sql files (1 for every civ/leader), but it doesn't seem to work in game.. there must be a piece of information I'm missing... I'm gonna have to study the CivIV Traits mod page for clues..

NOT working (at least not alone) sql files:

You don't get many replies on this, which is criminal. I just wanted to say that this is a fantastic mod which I appreciate enormously. If you head over to http://www.reddit.com/r/CivAIGames, you'll see I used the majority of your civs in an AI game. It worked really really well - no bugs (which is miraculous for these games), and pretty damn interesting to watch. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This was my first reaction too lol. r/CivBattleRoyale is the only subreddit where I remember usernames.

I know right! The only other crossovers I recognize are the CL team... and I'm still getting used to seeing Neirai and Senshidenshi on there.

It also really freaks me out when I see Lungora over here.

Poom is also easy to find, I post there a lot but my username is completly different, hehehe.

Anyways, off topic much?

To be fair, the mod hasn't been updated since, like, 2014 and Homusubi hasn't posted since June. It's a bit hard to stay ON-topic, if anything.

So, after about two years of not updating anything, I decided to return to Civ 5 and make one last update for Rising Sun before the Civ 6 modding scene really gets going. I've been into Civ Battle Royale recently, and one of the Rising Sun civs was shortlisted for the Japan primary (it lost to Oda Nobunaga, but hey, seven times down, eight times up!). The whole experience made me realise that there actually were people out there who liked Rising Sun enough to, for example, make AI games exclusively set in Japan. It took me by surprise, it really did. And so I felt I had to give something back for the first time since 2014.

And so I present to you, the 2017 Rising Sun Arigato Update...

-Added a TSL Japan map featuring all the civs except Ryukyu. (The Ikko-ikki start at Nagashima)
-Reworked all the icons.
-The alpha icons are now proper kamon instead of pixelated blobs.
-Konishi now has its own kamon and colour scheme instead of using Spain's.
-Oda, Toyotomi, and Akechi now have the correct colour scheme and the same kamon design across colour and alpha.
-Cities should no longer go invisible sometimes.
-Previously unpromotable UUs should now be promotable.
-Added five new leaderheads, so that no two Japanese civs share a leaderhead. Sho Hashi now has his own artwork; Augustin Konishi still has William's.
-All the leaders now have unique greeting messages.
-Nerfed Kato and Ikko-ikki.
-The first two thirds of the Oda city list is now properly Oda. The Oda capital is now Kiyosu instead of Nagoya or Kyoto.
-Sakamoto now has a more readable colour scheme.
-The five minor civs (now Kyoto, Izumo, Fu'nai, Tsushima, and Hakodate, one of each CS type) no longer conflict with the major civs and no longer share colour schemes.
-A few misc bugfixes and historical name changes.
