Cool, a vote for hard-coded, predictable maps in an ahistorical, randomized game.

If you want geographical accuracy, there are scenarios you can play.
Before placement, for each wonder a huge list of viable locations gets compiled. My vote is only for places with adjacent snow and ice to be removed from this list. The result will still be very random, as the remaining list will still be very large.

In general I'm for more randomization. I've removed many specific rules from my mapscripts. No forced coastal starts on maps like Small Continents, no forced island starts for CS's on maps like PangaeaPlus and ContinentsPlus, no automatic flattening of mountains to hills when they're adjacent to coast like is happening on many maps and no check that 84% of land belongs to the same landmass on Pangaea.
I do not play scenarios, because I like the random maps and I'm only playing the most random mapscripts, not the Ovals, the Donuts and such.
