It's an extraordinary blessing to see that some of the ideas we are suggesting are actually going to be added to the game. I'll admit it, I wasn't overly excited about civ 3, but after reading just about the bargaining table idea...I can't wait for the release.

I guess I'll have to start counting the days.

yes... YES... YES!!!

We're being listened too, and it's content not just presentation.

My expectations of Civ3 keep getting higher. Although the renderings of the leaders are a bit scary, especially Lizzy .

Although I was hoping for a screenshot. I suppose the looks of the terrain isn't final yet... But nevertheless, thanks for this update.

Diplomacy ideas sound fanstatic. I'm not sold yet on the animated leaders. They look almost cartoonish, somehow. Not sure what it is...

In a way they're supposed to be. The original Civ was very light-hearted (think Sid in a toga, showing off the wheel your scientists just researched) and even Civ II retained some elements of humor (mainly the advisors).

And the game is really meant to be an abstracted look at civilization on this planet, not an accurate simulation of it, so why not have some fun with its leaders?

Okay, I see where you're trying to go with it. I can get behind that. Still, there can be a fine line between light hearted and really dorky. I don't have shockwave here at work, so I haven't been able to view the facial expressions yet. I should suspend judgement at least until then, so I withdraw my earlier concern

BTW Dan, it is great having you check into this forum now and then. Keep up all the great work, you and the whole team!!

I think the faces are fine. At least they represent more than the emissaries in Civ2. I do hope you can turn them off though, if you have a slow computer.

Hey, if this is all true, then the diplomacy is going to be amazing! We could swindle weaker civs much more Machiavellily.

One question: What role does patience play in Civ3's diplomacy?

In civ2, I accidentally click on something, so I say "Never mind", and they tell me to stop wasting their time!

Hey! Thanks for the update. The animated leaders are great! And the new diplomacy features will greatly improve that aspect of the game
I notice that Abe and Mao seem to have significantly different backgrounds behind them. (It seems like Abe is standing in the White House, while Mao is in front of some Communist propaganda) I like that

I'm so excited is it nearly Christmas yet? [\b] The bargaining table sounds wicked, I too am not sure about the animated leaders, they have a slight whiff of gimmeckry but let's just trust Firaxis shall we.

I am getting more and more excited, to get my hands on Civ III. When will it hit the stores, WHEN??? ... ooopps ... get a hold of yourself a_disciple, don't get over excited.

I am especially excited about the diplomacy system, it sounds VERYintresting. I just can't wait to see some screenshots, but we are waiting patiently...

And by the way, thanks for the update Dan

Let's see...

Bargaining Table:
Different categories of peace treaty:
Give me N gold per turn for peace: Let's talk cash baby !!!
Ranged attack and better bonuses for terrain (including attackers):
Replay (Not sure what AC had, but from what I have heard...):
Different types of tanks and fighters (based on image gallery):
Animated Leaders: especially the angry ones. They just look like they have gas or something.

*Clap* *Clap* Clap*!

I still have many questions about CivIII. So I get the impression that to ask would simply undermine the competence of the Firaxis team, which I have no doubt in the ability or professionalism of whatsoever. So all I can say is that so far I am impressed and happy. Keep up the good work and well done!

I'll just have to wait, but I am certain the CivIII will be an epidemic all over again!
