SGOTM 20 - Civ Geeks United

We are really in no hurry. The farther into the game we get, the less micromanagement is needed. It is the macro decisions that make the difference.
I actually have time to get started, but will start with a few tests.

I am sure that I will hit some pausing points or stopping points.

Speaking of that; does the test game typically survive for the full duration of the real game?

It seems like it's becoming an ever-growing burden to keep it mirroring the real game with a reasonable degree of accuracy. That burden has mostly been on you, so feel free to let us know if it is getting out of hand.

I tested a few things. Sending one of the ivory workers to cottage GC after ivory is not helpful.

I will farm 1N of ivory. Based on our hidden condition, I am less inclined to cottage Midgar.

It is more efficient to not whip a forge in DeathStar, due to low food. If we did whip, we couldn't start the settler anyway because you want to build him at a higher population since we don't grow when building settlers.

Whipping in Tatooine is a good move.

It is an invaluable tool for me to have an accurate test game. It gets more convoluted as we get farther in. Will probably won't use it much longer, but we will see. When we start spamming units, it becomes difficult to keep accurate, but is also less useful.

I will wait one turn to trade copper to Churchill in case he/RNG decide to build the colossus or not this turn base on having copper.

Ok, yeah. Getting MC and copper the same turn would definitely seem like sufficient motivation to start Colossus. Good idea to hold off a turn on the copper.

I played a few turns. I will make a report later tonight. No major developments.

Turnset notable occurrences:
Suleiman settles city south of Midgar.
Julius demands we stop trading with Augustus. - denied
Churchill asks us to trade alpha for masonry. Since he offered, that means it is a fair trade. He must be nearly finished with alphabet. I will take the trade upon resuming.
No mathematics yet.
Louis lands found to west. 4 workers visible.
Julius' Capitol is visualized with TGL. He has iron.
Iron found south of Augustus.

I want to switch to HBR at 0%. To get math, currency, HBR, construction, CoL.

I don't think I get it. Why switch to HBR? Especially if we're staying at 0%.

Both Caesars look like they will have iron shortly, so you can't still be considering a HA rush...

we could attack and raze the world but we are not in economical position for a new war.

thank you for testing my stupids ideas :)

jabba: granary before forge in my mind
jarjar ca move from its position
we need workers, we did not steal enough ^^
ok for alpha - mason trade

for techs, we could go 100% HBR right now or we will have enought money in 5 turns to start currency at 100%.

keep good job

Our next war will require construction/catapults. Since we have ivory, it would foolish to not pursue war elephants.

Now that we are working scientists, we will accrue beakers at 0%. I think we will need HBR for stables/elephants prior to needing courthouses.

What action do you propose when you say that we need workers?

we have barely 1 worker per city. lots of new cities need more tiles to improve. no criticaly but in the near future. If we create a city, we will some too. with math, we will have trees to be chopped...
This is an observation for future, not an emergency. If we can build 1-2 worker in the next 20 turns, all the best. If we can't, we will try to steal some ^^

Here it is:
Spoiler :

I see a Hindu symbol, but it doesn't look like it has the star for the holy city. I'm not sure though, the tile yield is kind of obscuring it.

We can definitely take them with swords. Now, it's just question of whether this particular city is worth it.

Ok, yeah, I knew we were getting 7 beakers/turn now, and it makes sense to switch out of CoL. I guess the way it was written, I assumed that if we were going to make the switch we'd go to Currency, since that was the first one on the list.

Is there any inherent advantage to researching one tech at 0% and then switching to another at 100%?
