Firaxis just posted some new job openings to their website and one of them is Experienced Scenario Designer. The responsibilities of this position include developing tutorials, designing custom maps, creating full scenarios, and testing modding tools.

In addition to the Scenario Designer position, Firaxis also have openings for Designer/Programmer, 3D Animator, 3D Graphics Programmer, and General Programmer.

If you are interested, you can visit Firaxis's job opportunities page for more info.

Thought some of you might be interested... :)

maybe this person could sign up to convince Firaxis to create a patch for Conquest. hehehehehe

I'd suggest they don't mention it at the itnerview, however ;)

Dang! Not qualified enough for graphics designer! And no playable scenario/mod as of yet... :hmm: Oh well... I just hope if one of my good friends is hired as a professional mod-maker that I'm brought in as a volunteer consultant... :D

we don't want to get into complex issues do we at the interview (once s/he joins than they can talk) ;)

this is the plan:
the person should act nice and get the job then follow everything the boss says for maybe a month. then he says some suggestions and gradually convinces firaxis to make a new patch. that would be funny

If anyone should sign up to that, it should be Kal-El. His artistic skill is phenominal, plus he made DyP and Rise and Rule, which won awards.

I agree... I whole-heartedly suggest Kal-El for this job so long as I get to be the little parrot sitting on his shoulder whispering my ideas in his ear.

This is good news for a lot of people who've been wishing to get a job at the company. :D

Good luck to anyone applying!

Well, the other thing is that I'm a veteran civ-player. I was playing civilization when I was still a youngster in grammar school. I made a lot of scenarios for Civ2 including a Test of Time World War II scenario with both theaters of war and a rather cool intro movie with Adolf Hitler making a speech.

I also contributed a lot of suggestions on behalf of modders over at Apolyton when Civ3 was in the works... most of the suggestions were ignored unfortunately. If they'd implemented all or even most of our ideas, we'd be able to do almost anything with Civ3. The one thing we wanted more than anything was an events language that would even be better than Civ2's.

We also asked for other things like the ability to have 2 or 3 "empty" tile improvements slots that the player could fill in the benefits for, prerequisites, etc. Some of this coming from the great Captain Nemo... probably the greatest scenario maker there ever was... at least for Civ2 anyway. His World War II scenarios were legendary.

I seem to have none of the qualifications they are looking for.

well, that were perfect for me...
I have made mods, maps, terrain graphics, other graphics and recently some units. I love history. I know C++ and have a degree in computer engeneering.

But I live at the other side of the world... :(

Do you? I thought Firaxis was French...

Darn, if this oppertunity only had opened up in about four years I would have been all over it!

I'm planning to go into video game design and stuff for my career, but still got a bit of life to go through before then.

Oh well...

Well, I'm kind of stuck with a Programmer/Analyst Trainee job for the next 16 months. ;) So, maybe for Civ5. :mischief:

Meh, the job does not interest me. I am more of a freelance scenario creator. Plus Fraxis is a bit far from Conneticut and there is a conflict with majors ;).

Hopefully someone from the civ community will get the job so that *we* can get a bit more influence in the customizing aspect of CivIV.
I would hate to see someone with no familiarity of Civ get the job, just think of what terrible ideas (s)he could come up with... :crazyeye:

I might add I am bored.

Ability to work well, as part of a team and solo
:p

Well I think you could actually do it if you could convince them of some stuff
A)Bryce is better.
B)Creating units qualifes as working in the gaming industry
C)Experience creating real-time character animations for at least one shipped game product: A stretch but go with B on this.
