The mod is ready for download: here the MOD descritpion inside the READ ME file:

"Dear player, I hope you will like the scenarios that I made.
Genghis Khan's Great Ambition is a real 2-eras scenario realized around 1200 AD, reproducing the european situation during crusades and the rise of the mongol empire, where you will enjoy several new units, a totally new game and a new tech tree into an epic struggle for power between the european states united into the holy Alliance against the caliphs from Baghdad, while Asia will have to face soon the mongol invasion.

In short, you'll find:

- extremely accurated maps as much as I could.
- Natural resources located in the map as they are in the real world.
- re-edited civilizations with more than two attributes per tribe. This makes the game more or less challengening concording to wich tribe you choose to play.
- Old units with new abilities or completely new units.
- New governments like Constitutional Monarchy or Tribalism.
- New great and small wonders.
- New luxury and strategic resources.
- Generally improved rules
- Upgraded civilopedia"

I hope you'll enjoy it.

Any descriptions, previews, etc. for the mod?

It is probably the best mod that I did. In short, it is a medieval scenario that involves the whole Eurasia, where you may join the arab or european coalition into a locked alliance for Jerusalem or lead mongols or other asian tribes into a victory location or domination game. I deepy re-edited rules under every side - from units to governments - and I did my best to reproduce the historical and geographical situation around 1210 AD.
I think you may enjoy something really new :)

Man, I can't wait! I wanna see this scenario! I love Genghis Khan. Saw the TV series, played the game, read some books. Love this guy. So anyways, can you tell me about getting a file over 500k uploaded? I can't do it, I am trying to upload a M-unit but got stopped at 500k. The file is 1.75meg
I can't find any stickies talking about uploading... ah...

If you can manage, you may want to expand it to about 1600, and you can add the breakup of the Mongol Empire an the Mughal Empire in India etc.

Do you have any previews, screenshots or the like?

Before I consider downloading (as much as I love the Mongols) I have to know, how big is the map? If it's too small, there's no point! Eurasia is huge! It should at least be 362 across, I would think...

@ Orion : for the link.
I guess it is the one Thunderfall gave you. In that case don't use copy/paste for the link (as it is too long and uses "...." but select copy URL in your browser contextual menu.
Looking forward to it, so I hope you give the correct link soon (as the current one is useless... :().

BTW it sems, as others said, it would fit more in the Scenario forum rather than in the Mod one.

@ Kusang : to upload files between 500 kB and 3 MB check at the bottom of the page : you have a line with :
"Forum Rules - Chat Room - Upload File - Contact Us - Civilization Fanatics' Center - Archive - Top"

Just click on "upload" and follow the instructions. Don't forget to write down the address of your file !

I fixed the download link in the first post and moved the thread to Scenarios forum. :)

Another bug is that I wasn't able to force the game to end in the medieval age, but it goes on till the modern times showing the default tech pannel and changing the cities icons from medieval to modern as well, even if I replaced the appropriate images. To slow this process, I added extremely expensive technologies to be discovered, that are absolutely useless but if some player may tell me how to "freeze" the game in the medieval age, I'll glady do it.

Set the techs to "era none". That will prevent anyone from researching those techs.

A few notes. I haven't tried to play it yet but had a look at the map and at the scenario files.

1/ Most of the scenario folder is used by PTW extra Japanese units and by the art for the leaderhead of the Austrian.

Most players have the Japanese extra units but not all that's true. On the other hand since your scenario is for Conquests all players must have the Austrian leaderhead in the first place. So you just need to indicate to the biq where to llok for it (that would make the download much smaller).

Probably because it was used by the art mentionned above, I was surprised the download did not include new art while there are lots that could definitely be used for this scenario (Mongols (Kinboat's would have been a must !), Chinese, Russia, Muslim and European powers, ships (aagloo's ships)).

Map : you chose a very large area since it includes Indonesia and England. That is your choice and I respect it but it forces you to have lots of civs that could be used elsewhere. I sure understood you wanted to represent the possibility of the crusades at the same time but in 1200 (Genghis Khan united tribes in 1196 BTW) there was still a kingdom of Jerusalem (albeit without Jerusalem) in Acre, Tyr, Sidon and Cyprus. So this could represent the western European civs that tried to use the Mongols as a reverse alliance.
I would add Si-Hia (north-West of the Great Wall), Burma (they stopped the Mongols at Pagan) and Bulgars (kingdom of the Volga) instead but that's just my opinion.

Castilla is strangely represented (city names and placements). Qin should be Kin (Qin was in 221 BC !).
Japan had hardly occupied Hokkaido (still full of Ainous) so the Kurils...
The same way Kin did not really control Sahkaline then albeit it is true it stretched well into Mandchuria as it had been founded by Jurchen (Mandchus).
Russia was much smaller !
Abbasids would have been nice (Baghdad + West of Khwarizm that did not extend West so much).
Altogether most cities you placed are modern day cities that had either a different name or did not exist at all (Bombay, Shanghai, Madras for instance).

The valley of the Mekong is not grasslands which looks weird in the center of Indochina). XiAn is not at its place (that would be ChengDu) as many other cities (Moscow).
Hangzhou (exist today) is the capital of southern Song (albeit I don't mind the Chinese version Nansong !).

About the fact you reach the modern age. Just add more techs or make them longer to research so that the 200 turns (that's a lot) are over before you reach the next age.

Sorry if I sound harsh. IMHO it has potential and some good stuff (the different tribes as cities for Mongols, the different Muslim states (Khwarizm to Almohads)) but it could be made much better easily enough I think.

I would also add much more resources in China as it became the main resource center of the Mongols and provided them as well with lots of specialist troops.

I kindly thank everybody of you for your comments. I like it when they are helpfull and not just destructive critics.
Sorry if don't quote but it would just be too long.
I agree for almost everything that you told me but consider that Civilization offers a limited ammount of tribes and just adding small scattered kingdoms makes the game to be much slower: so I choosed to group all minor tribes together with the major states, like rum selerjuks with baghdad caliphate or Birmania with dheli sultanate. I know it may sound weird, but the game would become really too slow if I would do as you say.
More consider that I'm not a programmer but just a civ fanatic like almost of you and I really spent a lot of time to make a balanced game. As well, I'm not an expert in history and I did my best to get accurated news from internet and other sources. It was really impossible to reproduce an historically-accurated scenario as you ask, without an expert advising me.
About the city names, I'm not a english motherlanguage person and I used the ones that I found on an european historical atlas and the ones that I know in my language.
About the resources matter in China, you may be right but I displaced resources as they are in real life looking on the geographical atlas. It is difficult to think that some resource may have been exausted around 1200 but probably they have had even less resources than today because of the impossibility to dig deeper the land. That's why there is so few iron in china, for example. Maybe I may add more bonus resources but I don't agree about adding more strategical resources.
About the ones that can't load scenarios, porbably it is because you placed the folders with the wonders and units art files into a different folder. Check the scenario proprieties and check the scenario search folder. it should be ..\Conquests\Eurasia . Maybe the entry is just missing (somethimes it happens, I wonder why), or the problem is the one mentioned above.
About the units that you suggested to me, how do you think I could develope them? I mean: I really have had a lot of troubles while developing the different knight units for the european states: it is difficult to make them really different. What values and abilities would you suggest me? Thank you all.

I checked scenario search folder and it's ok (..\Conquests\Eurasia), but error stays the same :(

Darn.... I don't understand why, but if it really doesn't work open the scenario with the editor and just delete the wonder or replace its civilopedia entry with the one of another working wonder (no building). This will change the splash screen when it is built and the civilopedia entry, but it will still work.
If it will give you another error message when loading the scenario, it means that the game can't find the folder with the icons, images and stuff.
Probably the scenario can't be loaded if you are using a not-updated civilization III - conquest game, I don't know.
PS: it is not too early about Marco Polo. After all, the Yuan dinasty age was just not too many decades later and, if you are using mongols, it is supposed that you should discovere it when you conquered some territory. :D

Ok, first of all I am still in KG1 when it comes to editing scenarios :mischief:

I followed Orion79 latest tip and change the wonder entry for Marco Polo's

the game loaded, I picked the mongols and hit enter, go the below

Missing entry in "text/pediaicons.txt:animname_prto_peasent_worker

Then it really means that your Conquest.exe doesn't "see" the Eurasia folder.
Just to be sure, it is better if you take a look inside the main Civilization III - Conquest folders to check if the Eurasia folder, containing all the files needed to run the scenario, is stored together with the official scenarios' folders. In my PC it is: C:\Programs\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Conquests\Conquests and inside the last Conquest folder you should find all the other official scenarios.
I don't know how else I may help you, I'm sorry but the problem is that you must "help" the game to see where the archived files are.
