binkw32.dll
Yes, binkw32.dll in an "OS thang". Yes, MS should DO something about it. Yes, I've tried to paste binkw32.dll from my CIV cd to the System folder like it tells me to do in the Readme.txt. BUT I STILL CAN'T LOAD Civilization3X.exe due to “cannot find” “missing binkw32.dll”. Can some kind patient Civ expert soul please provide a definitive solution? Thank you.

Wrong forum, by the way
![]() You probably need to register it first. Click on "start" then "run". In the box that appears, type (without quotes): "regsvr32 binkw32.dll" Hit Enter. You should get a message saying that it has been successfully registered. Moderator Action: Moved to Tech Support |

Did you reinstall Civ3 from the CD?

RegSvr32
Ainwood: I put regsvr32 binkw32.dll in the run box and got this message:
"binkw32.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found. This file can not be registered". Soooo...now what? Chieftess:I'm trying to load the game editor from the cd - not the game itself. I did reload the game about three times though. But when I try to run the editor it says it can't find binkw32.dll. All: I really really appreciate you help... and thank you for putting this in the right forum. Last edited by mattarch; Mar 24, 2005 at 08:07 PM. Reason: direct answers to two post |

You can't run the editor from the CD... You run it from the installed Civ3 directory.

Ok - Problem solved!!!!!
after about 8 hrs of my life wasted and searching the world wide web, i finally got the binkw32 problem to go and CIV3 is now working perfectly! Here is what i did:- *first manually unistall EVERY civ 3 file inc the registery. *I updated my graphics card, but was pretty much up 2 date anyways. *I them downloaded a Binkw32.Dll file > i did download a couple of these as i found some will not work, i downloaded my binkw32.dll file from a Music download site (Etomi/Edokey etc) * this file was then added to System32 folder found in WinNT/.. *then tried the game and its worked. hope this helps |

I cannot get this to work either. I get the error "Windows Cannot find 'regsvr32 binkw32.dll'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search. " when I enter "regsvr32 binkw32.dll" The binkw32.dll file is definitely in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32. Help please.
