The President is responsible for control of the slider, worker allocation and resolving disputes between leaders, such as over use of gold. The President is also responsible for all tasks not assigned to another leader.

I presume you refer to "made man" or "family man" in this case. If you're trying to insinuate anything else I'll have to go looking for the trout smiley to whack you with. :mischief:

A question for the candidates: if you had your way, would we have an early war with a nearby civ to hinder them or spend our time on improving our empire?

Given our limit on cities, the earlier we can eliminate or hinder potential rivals to give our cities a bigger buffer zone, the better. If our first 'neighbor' is particularly close to our capital, I'd even be in favor of an early war of elimination.

Another question for the Nominees:

The President has control of the Slider. This effectively puts control of the balance of interests in the President's hands.

Please explain how you view the value of Gold in our Treasury during this first term: What are the relative values of our gold as a trading token, happiness pill, military-industrial complex bankroll, and research lubricator?

We're playing this game at the emperor level. This means that the AI is given a strong researching advantage. We'd be left in the dust research-wise if we poured every gold coin we had into research early on. Add this to the fact that our income as well as unit support is limited by our small number of cities. For those reasons, I'd support a minimum science research approach (aiming for fifty turn research, possibly using only a scientist). Otherwise, we should pour all our wealth into gold and use that stockpile to purchase technology and pay for a large army should that be necessary.
