TNT Term 4

Sent to Greekguy via PM ...

Titled - Small Matter
Dear esteemed ambassador Greekguy

I hate to bother you over such a trivial matter ... however my Department of Scribes and the newly established Counters of Beans ... have begun nagging me about outstanding documents required and such :rolleyes:

Apparently we still require the document that we sent you, outlining the recent trade deal, to have your mark attached and returned. I would consider it a great favour if you could follow this up personally.

I am also wondering if we can be of any other service to you ... as you are aware the Snarling Narwhal is sailing down your coast. Would you be interested in reports of non-TNT unit movement or sightings of any barbarians ... or perhaps we could discuss other knowlege tradings.

We are at your service.

Sincere regards

Feaurius III
MIA Foreign Minister.

Dear MIA

We are glad to annouce that we have finally managed to place our mark to seal our trade deal. We hope you find this satisfactory:

About your small ship you have sailing in and around the continent, we would greatly appreciate any and all information you could supply us about Doughnut troop locations. We also would like to participate in more techonology deals in the future with our Greek friends. Our brightest scholars are very close to coming up with a way to exchange goods. We will use gold coins as currency. If you would be willing to exchange your knowledge for these valuable secrets, I think we could have another trade. Perhaps if you tell us what you will be researching in the future, we could start up a cooperative research program, where we research different technologies with the intent to trade with each other for what we don't know. You should know that we consider you very good friends of ours, and look foward to continued relations and trade deals in the future.

Thanks Ken :salute:

I think the image lives on KISS and have therefore requested that Greekguy send it direct through e-mail.

So TNT are interested in troop movement reports and then later to trade Currancy.

:mischief: can I sense a Literature deal and a race between our Battle Islanders neighbours to the Great Library ???

I see no problem giving TNT info on troop movements. Realistically, it won't help them because Immortals are too slow to take advantage, but it does build up some goodwill. If it did help them, then we should still do it since I think they need help to keep the war close to even.

We can certainly look into a deal for Currency, but I don't think we should overpay - we are in no hurry for it.

I have been playing with numbers in the Post 13 in Foreign Offices ... Term 4

Question do we trade them, when they have it ... Map Making or Literature ... the latter would also require them to have Writing, which they are currently wanting to trade with KISS.

Defense Department agrees with this. It is in our interest to do everything we can to help TNT.

The Agreement has been placed into the Vault ;)

Notice that they are still grasping the concept of letters ... and have not yet mastered Writing :lol:

Draft to be sent to Greekguy via PM

Dear greekguy, TNT Greek Ambassador

The people of MIA have instructed our nautical lookouts to keep their eyes peeled for Nutter movement ... At this stage we have nothing to report ... which is either good or bad depending how one views these things.

What news from the front ? ... is the war faring well for you ? ... We sincerely wish that Meleet :worship: looks favourably on your efforts.

We are eager to enter into a research swapping scenario and are currently discussing how this will be implemented.

We applaud your brightest scholars whom you say are very close to coming up with a way to exchange goods ... an intriguing concept to exchange goods for tokens ... very interesting indeed ... what sort of timeline are you intending an exchange to take place ... as we would wish this transaction to happen at our mutually earliest convenience.

What technology would you be interested in ???

We can offer the knowledge of ...

A. Literature ... this will enable the building of vast document storage facilities ?

B. Map Making ... this will enable you to plough the seas in vessels brimming with spears and the building of harbours which will enable the trading (with tokens) of luxuries between us.

C. Leave it blank and an open question.

When you said that we should know that you consider us very good friends of yours, and look forward to continued relations and trade deals in the future.

The hearts of MIA did sing and our souls did tingle ... damn this hay fever that makes my eyes water :blush: ... all I will say that we have similar feelings towards you :love:

We will keep you informed and await answer to the timing question and then our scribes will prepare a document.

Good fortune to you

Foreign Staff ... Kentharu and Classical_Hero are also at your service.

EDIT ... Which option do you think ... I'm leaning towards option C as we have yet to decide on what to trade.

Cold Economics

Literature - 10* ... 10x30 x 1/7 = 257 (MIA)
Currency - 16 ... 16x30 x 1/7 = 411 (TNT)
>Outcome = 154
if add Writing - 8 ... 8x30 x 3/7 = 137 (MIA, Nuts, KISS)
>Outcome = 17

Map Making - 12 ... 12x30 x 1/7 = 309 (MIA)
Currency - 16 ... 16x60 x 1/7 = 411 (TNT)
>Outcome = 102
if add Writing - 8 ... 8x60 x 3/7 = 137 (MIA, Nuts, KISS)
>Outcome = -35 :shakehead:

EDIT ... Fixed

:goodjob:

I like this too. Same comments as on the Dnut one.
I vote option A or C.

Spelling:
Favourably -> Favorably
implimented -> implemented
intreging -> intriguing
harbours -> harbors
Fellings -> Feelings

Do they have any idea what we have? They don't have writing so they have no knowledge of techs after that unless we told them. I think we leave this one open (Choice C) and see what they come up with. We may end up with something like Currency for Writing, Mysticism, and Horseback Riding, and not give up anything valuable.

A point of style:

When you said that we should know that you consider us very good friends of yours, and look forward to continued relations and trade deals in the future.

The hearts of MIA did sing and our souls did tingle ... damn this hay fever that makes my eyes water ... all I will say that we have similar feelings towards you

This reads better as follows:

When you said that we should know that you consider us very good friends of yours, and look forward to continued relations and trade deals in the future., the hearts of MIA did sing and our souls did tingle ... damn this hay fever that makes my eyes water ... all I will say that we have similar feelings towards you

smilies got dropped in cut and paste operations, but I think you get the idea. As for American vs. Standard British English - who cares. As long as words are spelled correctly in one or the other (even both!). However, I am a stickler for spelling, because it's one of the few things I was good at in school.

Draft, with a touch of Peter Grimes' style ;) ... with the trading specifics open ... to be sent to Greekguy via PM

Dear greekguy, TNT Greek Ambassador

The people of MIA have instructed our nautical lookouts perched high atop the masts to keep their eyes peeled for Nutter movement. At this stage we have nothing to report, which is either good or bad depending how one views these things. On that theme, what news from the front? Is the war faring well for you? We sincerely wish that Meleet :worship: looks favourably on your efforts.

We applaud your brightest scholars whom you say are very close to coming up with a way to conduct business. An intriguing concept to exchange goods for tokens, very interesting indeed. We too are eager to enter into a research swapping scenario and are currently discussing how this will be implemented. What sort of timeline are you intending the proposed exchange to take place in? As we would wish this transaction to happen at our mutually earliest convenience, please indicate an expected completion date.

Now what technology would you be interested in from us? We can offer various knowledges, so please send us a list of prefered technology in order of preference, and we shall see how we can best accommodate your wishes.

When you said that we should know that you consider us very good friends of yours, and look forward to continued relations and trade deals in the future., the hearts of MIA did sing and our souls did tingle ... damn this hay fever that makes my eyes water :blush: All I will say at this juncture is that we potentially have similar feelings developing towards you :love: and future relationships seem bright.

We will keep you informed regarding any naval reports that you would find interesting and await an answer to the timing question. Our scribes are eager to prepare the necessary documents.

Good fortune to you :goodjob:
