:king: This is the first time Ive ever seen this  Civ 3 has 119 viewers currently on the C+C board. Its Sitting on top of the more advertised, higher selling and recently patched Civ4. Is this a fluk .what going on? go look for yourself :D Mybe the longer Civ4 is out the more peeps will come back to where its at.
I seriously wonder if this was just a unusual coincidense or a turn in the trend at least until they reload the hype with the expansion pak
EDIT: Refer to my 2nd post for what Im really gettin at. thanks

Ya Will sorry my heading is not the message I was tryin to send. Im happy for Civ3's rejevantion. Its player loyalty was truly tested and Id say it survived unscathed. Ive been predicting a renaissance for a while now. These are the first concrete numbers Ive seen to back this up. The impressive lineup of material always on the go is relentlessly reminding people were the real strides in improvments are taking place.

Ive just come back from the the Civ4 forums and theirs many people spittin some serious venom. "Is anyone tired of Civ3" "I cant play Civ3 anymore" those are a few of the threads you can enjoy on your next visit there.
If you got performance issues your in for a serious scolding for not havin the best computer on the market. how dare you only have more then the suggested requirments :)

Its going so far that just latly one guy got called dyslexic for using bad grammer when he spoke up about the choppy wonder movies  {"choopy movies" pg1 gendis} They got some sick puppies over there, I was glad to get back where the talent does all the talking.

You see they try to say its only a few loudmouths with crap computers who are doing all the complaining about Civ4. Id say numbers don't lie, and the numbers that were up tonight go far in tellin the truth Civ3 is pickin up the fallin and jaded fans that Civ4 has burned and broken with false promises. The 3D point n click tour of history on auto pilot is sputtering already in the face of true strategy gameplay. I have to thank all you guys for stickin to your guns. I mean your BICS :)

Good night.

Have to say I wasn't impressed with Civ4, played the demo and noticed it was pretty but clunky to play with all the 3d. Machine ran it just fine but just didn't see a real reason to buy it just for overrated graphics that to me made the game worse not better. Civ should be about strategy, not pretty graphics, so they should work on game play and not it's looks more.

The only thing that really caught my eye and I wish Civ3 had was the ability for units of different nations to walk over each other. I hate getting blocked by some stupid ai unit sitting in the way blocking road or rail travel for no reason.

Hmm I dig man ;) I guess what Im sayin is I don't want to create another dis thread(the Civ 4 forum has plenty already) but If it relates to the reasons mods have led you to continue playin Civ3 over moving to the sequal then it aplyies to my greater longevity/legacy discussion. I welcome your opinions regardless Its just that negative feedback threads on Civ4 have a tendency to be shut down fast

Civ4 is too expensive, that's why it cost $50.00 for me.
Gamers are a whiney, broke bunch. If you like a game, 50 dollars ain't no thing. Suppose for a moment that Civ4 was as good as civ3, a few hours work is too much for a game you'll get 50+ hours entertainment out of?
But maybe you meant civ4 doesn't look enjoyable it. In which case, I concure.

Yea but there are usualy more ppl there ... but it's true, i've seen this. On several ocasions there are more ppl in the civ3 forums per total then in the civ4 ones.

I don't have Civ4 I kinda want it put I hear its bad...Civ3 is good for me :)

Civ 4 isn't bad if you have a computer that it works on. It has a humongous amount of potential with modding because they released the SDK. I think once we fully begin to learn to mod it, it will easily be better than Civ 3.

I can't work under law...except once in a blue moon although soon I can get a job :woohoo: and some ppl like Heretic_Cata woild have to work for a few hours but like...a few days.

civ3 has enjoyed quite a boom recently...at least according to views/posts in all of the C&C threads.

the civ3 vs civ4 argument is an old one i'm afraid. my guess is that they're just 2 different games altogether although 3 appeals much, much more to me.

i would venture to guess that the higher amount if users in the civ3 forums was just a fluke. don't get me wrong though. 3 still has a great following and all but 4 doesn't have the experienced modders/artists like 3 does. maybe in time but for now, 3 rules the roost :p

I have to agree with most of what has been written here. I tried the civ4 demo and I didnt care for the look and feel of the game overall. I think they would have done much better if they left that alone and addressed the issues of AI and limits ETC instead. Price realy isin't an issue I saw it last week in a Best Buy sale flyer for $29. I think alot of the people on the Civ 4 boards probably didn't have civ3 and that may be changing now and people are switching to civ3 there have been a lot of new faces around here lately...

Civ4 has religions  but SUPER GOOD El Justo is here o shall I be here! Civ4 stole all the good MP players.

Well, in PBEMs quite a bunch are still around. And I prefer them to regular MP anyday.

CIV or Civ4 is not bad but I feel a bit on autopilot as a few other people said. Interesting ideas but extremely demanding as far as RAM is concerned. My PC can hardly handle it (at small maps, no more). Maybe some people who discovered Civ4 don't have state-of -art computers right now and went "down" to Civ3, at least for a while. Civ3 will die one day, like Civ2 but as long as people keep on enjoying it.

And it is difficult to create a good scenario if you lack a lot of the goodies that have accumulated (with time) in this very forum. But I guess Civ4 will have that one day (or else it is a failure).

The reason I mentioned Civ3's acheivment last night was mainly cause the new patch was freshly out for Civ4 so youd expect to see a lot of people lookin to see what its done for the mods or the SDK being kinda new you'd think that would be a huge boom in viewers but no, I saw a long time period where Civ3 had a larger base of support going for it.
Also with all of Civ4 tech problems the "genuwine interest" viewers are hard to guess, much smaller then it looks anyway.

For Civ3 I guess the General discussions viewer #'s will prove nothing cause over 6 years all the " General" topics have been covered, Newbies look for info older members supply it. Its In and out , no need for many long drawn out discussions like on Relegion or Stack attacks. Civ3 is well documented already. The other side is full of newbies cause its only been out 7 monthes.

The pulse of Civ3 can best be takin right here, were it keeps on getting improved and expanded. When Someone buys Civ Complete today they are buying Rise n Rule, Annui, WArhammer, Balancer Forget the conquest Scenarios when you got RFRE Last of the Mohicans, Cold war Deluxe and the Rood and the dragon. these and others are just as comlplete and professional in every way as the ones in the box.

Snoppys graphics, and now Ares sattalite terrain. Artists make higher rendered graphics then the original. Unit and leaderheads, so much extra quility + add ons and new concepts getting added on every month. Its ludicris :D Really its just silly to think about Civ4 right now. Anyone who is hasn't found this place yet.( or likes both) sucks to be the first people I mentioned. If I feel like havin a game of Civ. I make it a Civ3, "modded"

Also a side note. THe Mac release has added to my renaissance theory, its late release has given mac users all the goodies in one "Complete". heaping
pile of sweet startegy bliss. No waiting for patches or expansions. Opens the door to more potential mod players designers and artists. True?

i bought civ4 the day it came out and have played it like 8 hours... i still like civ3 because it flows a lot better and i have spent quite some time modding the gameplay. though my civ4 ran pretty well on my computer. so i have no complaints there. and i also have a good job that i can afford to blow 50 bucks, and also sit here and type this message as i 'work.'

:agree: Amen brother Jones! Preach on with your bad self....
