This is the term 5 Office of the President.

The duties of the President are defined as follows:
Spoiler CoL Section 1 B - The Executive Branch :

IIA. The Powers and Duties of the President
1. During the Turnchat the President, or a Representative of the President, may order the ending of play if continuing requires a decision to be made that can only be made by the Citizens Assembly. If the Turns are being played offline the Designated Player must end play if he is forced to make a decision that can only be made by the Citizens Assembly, provided that no vote on said decision has concluded.
2. The President will define a budget that all other official may not exceed without permission.
3. The President may change the Tax slider no more than 10% every 10 turns, with these exceptions:
A. The President may change taxes up to 30% in the event of budget shortfall: our nation losing money instead of gaining or staying even. However the President must see that a vote is brought on the matter before the next Game Session.
B. The turn on which a technology is discovered the President may change taxes by as much as 50% but must see that a vote is brought on the matter before the next Game Session.​
4. The President is responsible for resolving disputes between officials.
5. The President has all powers not expressly given to another official and not retained by the Citizens Assembly.
6. The units the President controls:
A. The President shall control all Settler and the defensive units assigned to them.
B. The President shall control all naval units.

Mr. President....

I will like to apply for SoS. It appears that no one wants the job and its a needed position. If you want me to be SoS then I will resign my office as governor of Abydos effective immediately. We need an SoS in order to make peace with the Mongolians and to trade.

If it makes it easier and less judicially messy..I will resign first then apply.
 
Mr. President. Apperently my request for an application to a governorship possition has fallen uppon deaf ears :(. If robboo accepts his possition for SoS, I would like to apply for the governorship possition of Abydos .

If that is not possible, I would like to apply for the Judge Advocate possition as an alternative choice to apply :).

I am pleased to announce the following appointments for Term 5. There were multiple applications for some positions, resulting in some difficult decisions.

 Secretary of State - robboo

Minister of the Interior - GlobalOppressor

Minister of Culture - vind2

Minister of Science - dutchfire

Judge Advocate - CivGeneral

Thank you Mr. President. I here by resign my postion as Governor of Abydos..and accept the Secretary of State job if I am confirmed by the judicary.
 
Thankyou very much for putting me into my first position. :D I accept my appointment.

BTW I didn't know we had to be confirmed by the judiciary.
III. Cabinet Vacancies
IIIA. The President must offer the position to the Deputy, if there is one.
IIIB. If there is no deputy, the President must request interested citizens that do not currently hold office to contact them. If no such citizen contacts the President within 72 hours of the office being declared Vacant, the President may appoint any citizen to the office.
IIIC. This appointment may be challenged by a confirmation poll.

This leads me to believe that we are in the positions but our position can be challenged. Could someone please clear this up, before we have a repeat of the CJ appointement a few terms ago."

Mr. President,

I helped start the Governor's Council last session as MoI. If you are indeed responsible for getting the ball going on the GC, I would be glad to to help you do that. I don't believe there is anything in the CoL that prevents you from delegating some of your powers to others. If you can handle it yourself I will not take offence. I just thought I might help you and I really had a good time doing it last term. I was hoping to do it again.

so do i have a job?
 
you could always be someone's deputy, but are all positions filled already?
A week ago, half of them were filled, so that went very fast.

Dave cant appoint govenors. Governors council does but we dont have one of those yet. I guess I could have made you my Deputy governor.

Sure we can (and should) have a GC, since there are 5 governor positions. Just because some of them are vacant doesn't keep us from having the GC.
 
Mr President,

There seems to be much confusion as to current positions. Even though the top positions have been filled, some of the lower ones have not. The city of Abydos runs wild, as Robboo has resigned to be appointed to Secetary of War. I ask that you make a thread in the government section (or citizens if posting this in the government goes against our fine protocol) titled "Term 5- Current List of Positions" or something of that sort, and provide the name title, and links to all the official government personal.

This will re-organize our government, and hopefully provide an easier way for our citizens to find what they're looking for. I would be more than happy to make this thread for you if you are unable. If perchance, you do want me to make this thread, just tell me which sub-forum to make it in. Thank you for your concern in this matter.

Given the current law does not define how a vacancy in the Designated Player pool is to be filled, I have decided that Col Section 1.B.II.5 (giving powers to the president not given elsewhere in the law) applies to this situation.

Accordingly, I am pleased to announce the appointment of ice2k4 to the Designated Players pool.
 
I would like to pre-announce the appointment of GeorgeOP as Minister of the Interior, and Sigma as Censor. Neither currently holds a position, as far as I can tell, and will be fine additions to the Cabinet. If either of them does already hold a position and I've somehow missed that fact, please feel free to point it out.
