Term 5 - Governor's Council

As a public service, under the "duties not assigned specifically to another official" clause of the Presidential powers, I hereby create the Term 5 Governor's Council and invite all governors to convene here.

Furthermore, there being several governorships open, I offer the council retroactive(1) use of the Open Offices Needing Appointments thread as a call for applications. Given that many applicants were chosen for other positions, and there are additional offices now open, I suggest extending the already concluded application process for 1-2 days so that additional people may offer themselves as sacrifices (volunteer) for these positions.

Of course, as President I have no standing with the council itself. Just giving y'all a hand with "organizing". :D

Well, there is no Governor of Abydos, and the Minister of the Interior has misteriously disappered. I ask the governor's council, if they mind if I take the worker currently position in Auda City (and positioned there for the last few turn chats) if I may take control of him for a few turns and use him to chop a forest 3 tiles below, and one tile to the right of Auda City. Thank you for your concern in this matter.

This is actually the office of the current governors. Someone who is currently a governor can post a request for applicants to the open governor positions, and then all the folks who want to be a governor can re-confirm their interest.
 
Well, legally, do we need all the governors to post that they agree to create states, and then you edit the first post?

Can you just edit the first post yourself, and create the state, since it was approved?
 
Dave as prez can you appoint a MoI so we can appoint governers and then get on with the game?
 
Seeing how there are only two governors, both in diffrent states, does that make us govenors of the states? It says the current govenors need to come to an agreement as to who will rule the states. I believe this is a resonable agreement, I'm sure Ice2k4 would agree :)
 
Yes there are 3 Governors. We work it out among ourselves to decide who gets what. Please note that governos can have deputys (mayors) running cities within their state.

Two states will be created:

State 1 = Abydos, Turfan, and Old Safari
State 2 = Auda City, Toot Uncommon, and Ning-Hsin (spelling?)

As always Boaring Wallow will be left alone. Micilian's Gate will also be left out of a state.

Since I am going to ask for appointment of both Minister of the Interior and Censor, I am going to have to reisgn from governor (if I get appointed to both.) So I leave it among you and Whomp to decide who gets what. For now though, until I am appointed, I will accept any governship of either state.
 
Whomp, I would like take governship of the state including my humble home, Toot toot. If Ice does get MoI or Censor (or both) I believe it would be perfectly resaonable for you to take governorship of that state.
 
Sorry I missed this conference. Sounds like a plan. Count me in on running the other state.
 
I'm pretty sure I'm turning down Censor now, had a change of mind. If you two are willing to take care of the states, I guess I'll take over BW or MG. Let me get a ruling on if the Governor's Council can decide it, or if I have to ask to be appointed to one of those.

Edit: I was looking over the CoL and found this:

IV. Governor Vacancies

IVA. The Governors Council must request interested citizens that do not currently hold office to contact them. If no such citizen contacts the Council within 72 hours of the office being declared Vacant, the Council may appoint any citizen to the office.

IVB. If there is no Governors Council, the Minister of Interior must request interested citizens that do not currently hold office to contact them. If no such citizen contacts the Minister of Interior within 72 hours of the office being declared Vacant, the Minister of Interior may appoint any citizen to the office.

Since the office of BW has been vacant for a few weeks, then as long as both of you agree to appoint me I canbe governor of BW. As long as you guys agree of course.

Edit: I'm assuming this turnchat will be the last one before the states are officialy recognized.
 
I think Ice taking over BW is a good idea. What about creating a "mini-state" so to speak, and run both citys with a governor. Now that I say that, I expect any effort we make will be cut down by the Judicary, considering it technically is against the rules.
 
Actually strategy I looked over the rules.

I won't be able to take MC and BW, because I'm applying for MoI.

Governors (and members of the cabinet) are allowed to take 2 positions. That means you or whomp can control each a state, and one of you can also control MC. That will really help our problem with positions not being filled.

Here's the catch. If whomp takes a state, he can continue to hold that state and MC with no problems from the judiciary.

However, if Strategy takes MC, than we technically have to announce a vacancy in the Governor of MC office, and wait 72 hours for the governor's council to appoint a governor (STrategy) to MC, and that's if no-one else wants the job.
 
I would like to continue to develop Mic's Gate but will do whatever I can to avoid the judiciary. Let me know the easiest way to do this.
 
Well the easiest way to do it is not reisgn from Mic's Gate make a new thread (after this turnchat) called Governor of [State name] and Micilian's Gate.

Again as long as Strategy Dork agrees.
