Warlords Sound Problems

Hey, I took a quick look through the first couple pages here and didn't really see what I was looking for, so I'm making this new thread. I apologise if I've missed my answer somewhere else.

My problem is that when playing Warlords, I have no sound at all. Game sounds, music, etc. are all non-existent. EXCEPT, sometimes upon completion of a wonder (usually the Religion-based wonders from Great Propets) I get the music for the little cinematic. But for the rest of the game, I don't have any sounds.

I get all the sounds and music for the opening ads (the company bits) and the opening cinematic, but nothing during the game. The rest of the sounds work fine on this computer for outside the game and the game works fine sound-wise on my brother's computer.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has any clue as to what might be the problem? Also, I'm not sure what the soundcard is on this computer, so any advice on figuring that out would be helpful.

Again, I hope I'm not making a mistake asking this here, and I look forward to your assistance. Thank you in advance.

You posted in an incorrect forum and therefore, you shall be hanged. Ehh... OK. Even though your problem probably belongs to the tech support forum (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=159), let's see.

I assume you did not turn off in game music in the audio options. I assume the game is complete (no rip or something). To give us some info about your system, you can use dxdiag (how to get that, read e.g. here http://faq.blizzard-europe.com/en/article.php?id=016). Please attach it to your reply.

Thanks. Sorry about the wrong forum. I might re-post there if a Mod isn't able to move it for me?

Also, the second link you gave me does not work. Try again? Thanks.

Okay, I think I figured out how to get my DXDIAG.

Thanks. However, I just realised I did the DXDIAG from the wrong computer.

I'll probably be able to get the Diagnosis from the computer that's having problems a bit later in the week. Sorry for that.

Hey there,

Sorry it took me so long to get back with the correct DxDIAG, but I've been working sixty-seventy hour weeks and just got a chance to get on the computer with the problem.

Here's my file if you wouldn't mind taking a look at it here. Thanks a bunch.

OK, this time your sound drivers are really ancient, from 2003. I don't know much about sound cards, but it seems to me from the dxdiag that you got 2 cards in your computer, the default external sound card from Creative and another (onboard?) card from Analog Devices.

For creative, you can find updated drivers here: http://us.creative.com/support/down...&driverlang=1033&OS=10&drivertype=0&x=37&y=16. For the onboard card, perhaps here somewhere: http://forms.analog.com/Form_Pages/soundMAX/soundMAXtechSupport.html.

Good luck.

I`ve got the same problem and no clue where to look what soundcard I have and where to download an update. Maybe you can help me there too? I would really appreciate it.
