Ive been hiding this from CFC for about a month.

But i met this girl online through www.hotornot.com that i sincerely loved, because she had nearly all the same interests as me and looked good to boot. But i was interested with her not because of her looks, but because she had nearly all the interests i had.

She liked final fantasy for one, and pretty much all other video games that i loved.

She seemed to like me, and seemed to take an interest in me. And at one time said i was cute. I thought we would be good friends and something more, but Nowhere in her profile did it say she had a boyfriend though.

Why would she sign up to that site if she had a boyfriend? My heart is broken...

She doesn't.
That is the polite way of saying no.

Girls are gonna confuse you for a while, boy.... get used to it, and welcome to the real world.

Maybe when you are 50 you will have figured them out, and if you ever do, get back to me.

Become misogynist. I did. :)

It's the only way I know how to deal with all those rejections/bad luck with women/etc. :(

Comiserations on the not finding someone. However chances are you weren't in love with her just for having the same interests. Better luck next time, more fish in the sea etc :)

Tough dude, tough. How did she break up with you?

Edit: In a couple of weeks you may reliese that you never actully loved her, or you did but you wern't "in love with her." It happens.

On the internet (or even on the phone) don't believe all the stuff woman says they are interested in especially stuff like sports, games, etc. They often exaggerate to get guys attention when in reality they barely know anything about sport, games, etc.

It's usually a wise move to see people in real life before commiting your heart and soul to them.

Yeah. If you've known someone a month, on the internet, through a site based on a site dedicating to rating how people look, and you already feel in love with them, you need to slow down there, bucko.

That's true - and that's something that both men and women do. Since you're basically advertising yourself, you're usually willing to depart from the truth just that little bit in order to be more appealing!

She hasn't, yet. He learned about this from a "friend" on a WoW server.

The proper response from you should be " Next!"

You can wallow or hitch up your britches.

Probably because it is a ratings-type of site, and not a dating site. You want dating, check out okcupid.com or plentyoffish.com.

How do you know 'she' wasnt some 45 year old overweight trucker who scanned in someone elses photo?

Her DeviantArt page contained the same personage and name that Xanikk has been talking to. We are very sure that she is a real person.

I should mention that there are probably better dating websites than one named "hotornot.com" If your looking for nooky, try AdultFriendFinder, if your looking for a soulmate, try EHarmony.

She was in a red mage costume in her hotornot picture, has a deviant art page on the same interets, plays WoW, et cetera. It's clear she did in fact had the same interests at him. Besides, she lives close by, just was away for the summer.

Xan, I really don't know what to say, other than I literally know how you are feeling, because I had the same thing happened to me. But you need to remember that even though you thought you sincerely loved the girl, you didn't actually love her - you were infuatuated with her. Love is far more complex than that.

I am just going to pray that it won't lead to the same disaster it lead for me.

I take it that Xanik had actually discussed that whole thing somewhere else?

You dont think that people who create false personas on the web could do that? /pshaw...it would be extremely easy to do.

I have seen the lengths to which some of these people go to fool others on the web......it can be pretty darn elaborate to be honest.
