We are pleased to announce that we'll be hosting a Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword Pre-release Chat with Firaxis next Friday. Most members of the Beyond the Sword development team will be present to talk about the upcoming expansion pack and answer fan questions!

When: June 15, at 4:00 PM EDT (20:00 GMT)
Where: CivFanatics Chat Room

The chat likely will last 1.5 to 2 hours. You can access the chat room by using the Java chat applet, or by using an IRC client such as mIRC (recommended). Once you have installed an IRC client, connect to the IRC server at irc.irc-chat.net and join the channel #civfanatics.

Don't miss it! :)

Congrats on the hosting!

Will we be able to download the chat log if we miss?

I know I can't make that time, so here's my question if someone could pass along at the chat.

What are the minimum/recommended system requirements? OS supported?

Thanks

Crud, that's 4AM here... echoing Maydrock's question, will the chat logs be saved and available for download/viewing afterwards?

We should post the raw chat log shortly after the chat. A day or two later we may also post a log in QA format.

GarretSidzaka: You can message Barrry.

I think it's important someone ask what are the "minimum" and "recommended" system requirements and make sure to use the quote marks. Firaxis really needs to get their shiznit together on this issue. I hope the chat does not turn into another love-fest like all these other interviews I am reading.. Civ Fanatics should be where they finally get some tough questions.

They've already covered no new resources, but I'd like to hear a confirmation of no new traits as well. Here is my official question list:

1) Will there be any new traits added?
2) Would you care to elaborate on the changes made to the founding a religion system?
3) You've mentioned that Sitting Bull likes Cultural Victories. Does this mean that there is now some sort of Favorite Victory leader setting?

Are there any questions or topics which will be 'off-limits'? For example: asking about the identities of the remaining civs and leaders.

I want to see some conquest/domination victories attempted by the AI...

I won't be at it but there are a couple of questions I'd like asked.

1) Could Firaxis expand on the new aspects to trade routes in BtS?
2) Could Firaxis expand on how civil wars are implemented?

And right next to the question if they fixed MAF:

Did they improve late game performance on huge maps with lots of AI?

All those new features are only worth half if you can't take it along into late game which they claimed to have improved so much...

i wonder if they'd consider adding nelson mendela to the zulu. i doubt it, but i gotta wish.

Cha/Org?

I'll be their

Are you able to play Civ4 currently on your computer? If yes, then you should have no trouble playing BTS. Expansion packs use the same game engine as the base game, so system requirements are similar, if not identical.

Just so you know, I'll be at work, so don't pm me questions, since I won't be able to ask them. By the time I get home, eat dinner, the chat will be almost over. Ask Gogf, and any others I decide to make a chatroom op for the day.
