Hi,

This is annoying, bear with me please...

I really wanted to enter this BOTM 8 which requires version 3.13 of BTS. Unfortunately I was patched up to 3.17. So I figured I'd just uninstall Civ and I have Civ Complete so it was just a case of going to add/remove programs and removing that (I couldn't see to find an uninstall application). When I got into add/remove programs I noticed that strangely there was an entry just for BTS (but nothing similar for Civ Vanilla or Warlords, even though they were the only versions I had had separately installed in the past, a few months ago). I removed Civ Complete, but when I went to remove BTS, I got a bit of hour glass action and then nothing.

Anyway I reinstalled Civ complete which has BTS version 3.03 (ish), then when I went to patch it to 3.13 I got the message that it was already patched to version 3.17. It must be recognising the version I see in add/remove programs and cannot remove.

So next time I deleted every last vestige of Civ on my PC, even delving into regedit, tried reinstalling again.... exact same problem. I think it won't be a problem to patch it back up to 3.17 using the automatic patcher in-game, but I did really want to play the BOTM!!

Any ideas? Thanks so much for reading.

you need to remove the specific entries in the installshield information folder - the below are the files for the standalone versions - so you might have to click through all those folders to find the one(s) for Complete (would be nice if you posted those) - since it sees 3.17 - its likely that the complete folder contains a subfolder called 3.17. If in doubt: the installer puts a setup.ini into these folders which contains among others the program name and is a normal text file...

Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}" (Civ4)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228}" (Warlords)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}" (BtS)

The only folder I found was the one in bold. It had a folder "3.17". I tried just deleting this sub-folder, still had the same issue. I then tried deleting the whole folder, still no joy (though I haven't, and probably should when I have time, tried another re-installation).

complete edition is patched to 3.13 by default... so after a reinstall it should be at 3.13 - 3.03 is not attainable by complete - should have thought about that earlier. the 3.13 patch cannot recognize complete - but is not needed either.
