Includes:

  • Attack, fortify, death, run, and default animations.
  • Attack, fortify, death, and run sounds.
  • Pedia icons both small and large as well as an icon ready to be pasted into units32.pcx
This is Jimmyh's non-working trebuchet unit scaled down 50% so it fits in civ3. Thanks to Jimmyh for the images from AoK, and to Polaris for the sounds.

Problems with the unit are: shadows are black (not alpha-blended), and white areas of the unit sometimes won't show up. I plan to fix both of these problems eventually, however it won't be for a little while as I've already invested quite a bit of time on this during the past week (good learning experience, though).

As for unit stats, I suggest using it as an artillery unit of strength 6, available with engineering.

Awesome! Glad to see you finished it!

I cannot wait any longer. I am gonna download this unit and fix the shadows. You cannot stop me. :p

Edit: This would be alot easier if it hadn't been resized. This could take awhile. It could take a LONG while.

And here is a possible Civilopedia entry if anyone wants it.

I reckon Stats of 0/0/1 6/1/1 Cost 4
No Resources required, Wheeled, Pre-Req Tech Engineering.

^[Trebuchets] were large military engines used to hurl stones and other missiles. They were generally used during sieges to attack or defend fortifications. Trebuchets have no attack or defense value, so they should be protected by an escort. Further, they are cumbersome units, so they cannot enter $LINK<mountains=TERR_Mountains> or
$LINK<jungles=TERR_Jungle> unless following a road. Unlike "Gunpowder" weapons, Trebuchets do not require any Strategic resources to build.

^Trebuchets were medieval siege warfare weapons used to break down the walls of castles and other fortifications. They were the successor of the Catapult; but could take heavier rocks and projectiles, and fling them farther and with more accuracy. They worked by dropping a great weight that was attached to the short end of a long lever-arm. The long end of the lever was thereby raised with considerable velocity, pulling a sling that contained the projectile. The sling would increase the effective length of the lever arm, adding even more speed to the final projectile before the sling released it. With the introduction of "gunpowder" artillery they passed from use.

Color replacer isnt going to work. This will have to be done pixel by pixel.

It will take much time, so go ahead and use the current animation until I am done. Unlike changes to the BIC, changes to unit animation can be made while playing a game without having to start over.

I just can't seem to able to download your unit anymore?

(This file doesn't exist on this server)

what was the trebuchet in AOK called, "God's Own Sling"

ill just have to rename mine

It comes with Conquests now. Or at least there's one in Conquests if not the same.

it isnt the same. This one is the one from AoE2, and the conquests one is different.

I see, is there anywhere it might be saved by someone? I'll have to check my little museum, but it might have been deleted or I never downloaded it. This thread was way before my time.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just got it from your site GIDustin. Thanks.

Thats odd. I was there day before yesterday and couldn't find it so I left a post here. I need the AoE version and not the C3C one., cuz the C3C trebuchet looks more Ceaserish (not a real a word :) )

Could you perhaps tell me which page @ GIDustin's site you saw the unit.
