No, this is not a dual map challenge.

It's two deity games on standard size 60% water Tectonics v 7 AIs, epic speed.

Our leader/civ is random.

The challenge is open to everyone.

We'll compare the games at checkpoints: 1000 BC, 1 AD, 1000 AD, 1500 AD, and every 100 years after 1500 AD.

Considering the number of random factors, we'll be facing two very different setups. Perhaps the challenge will give insight into the inner workings of deity level strategy and tactics. Then again, perhaps not, but it'll be fun play nonetheless.

Our first start:

Top one looks like a very nice bureaucracy capital with good food and forests for early production (creative...rexing?). Bottom one is a production-heavy capital with some good commerce as well from gems and lake/clams (financial). Bottom one with elephants would be good for post-construction warfare, but I don't know how that goes on deity.

Deity is too hard for me aswell, but its a nice idea and will be interesting to see how these play out

My thoughts are that these starts seem very versatile. There's no way knowing where they will go yet.

The Maya start is very suited for pre-industrial warfare though (ivory). It has the necessary commerce to fuel a run for elephants/cats in time, the production to make them and epic speed to use them (although this works on normal too). It also has a lot of happiness making monarchy not so urgent.

If early war is not favourable for whatever reason elephants can be utilised for quick cuirassiers instead (upgrade). I think I counted 26-ish production with hills, so Mutal can produce a lot of mounted units with bureaucracy.

With 2 happiness resources and ball court you can easily get construction before monarchy...

I might try this one, even though I'm not a deity player...

The Gilgamesh one first, for me...:)

Let's see how long I last.

Sun Tzu Wu has recently won a HoF Major with Sumeria Domination in 2000BC :) So is it Pangea-type map? Cuz then Domi/Conquest is the most viable 1st option, especially with so much food to slave and wood to chop.

Btw, thanx for inviting. Not sure I'll find time, as there is also a Deity Cultural Major at HoF right now.

What are the rules, btw? Non-reload, no restarting, single attempt?

Thanks for the PM.
I'm far too busy these days, but I'd like to try going for culture with the second save sometime...

That was marathon though... I don't think this is ;). Nor is there double gems to feed your insane expansion... Also barbarians are on so worker stealing is a lot harder...

Rules are relaxed. Obviously abusing reload is not OK, but reloading to an earlier point to explore branching stategies is OK.

I also feel the starts are very versatile. The Maya are certainly suited for Construction warfare.

The Sumerians capital will be good for both cottaging or specialists, however happy cap management will be key for success.

Opening micro in the maya start is interesting... Settle in place or on the sugar?
