TheForestAuro
Whisper in the Trees
Introduction:
Welcome to NotW XXXIV. This is the sign up thread. I have been working on this game for some time now, so don't sign up if you think you might find yourself too bored to participate. Inactivity makes games frustrating, and it picks apart the balancing I've done during the design process by effectively eliminating your role.
Now then, where were we?
NIGHT OF THE WEREWOLVES XXXIV: CHRONOMANCY
As the archaeologists gathered around the tome, a sense of excitement was building in the old dwarven mine. Being hailed as the first joint dwarven expedition to uncover their heritage, the Khazad-Lurchuip team was a revolutionary step towards dwarven unification. Joining the dwarves were a variety of historians from all across the known world, and many exciting discoveries had been unearthed in the ancient halls they now plundered.
But this tome had been something unlike anything else they had encountered in their days here. Deep gashes in the stone constantly swirled, as if ink on a page, refusing to take form for the onlooking audience. But even as the discussion about its possible use or purpose sprang up, an excited shout revealed that the tome was settling into dwarvenscript!
A day like any other
brother mixed with brother
but lies are told
and those grow bold
who seek to hack and smother
watchers gathered clearly
to which they held so dearly
but it's setup
their time is up
and save themselves they'll nearly
With furrowed brows, the historians gathered around the tome, and tried to make some sense of it. The poem continued, describing a time long ago when a hall of dwarves turned on each other long ago and murdered one another until only two families remained - and forever, they held a grudge against one another for surviving.
But even as the discussion reached a peak, the tablet swirled once again, and new words appeared...
This is a list of all the dead, in the order that they died.
1.TheForestAuro, slain by the Temporal Tome
...and all eyes focused on the Chronomancer, whose own grew wide in fear...
Setting:
NotW XXXIV: Chronomancy takes place in an ancient dwarven hall, which housed a tribe of dwarves before the Lurchuip and the Khazad were fundamentally different political groups. This game will explore a number of themes, including how the laws of time are perhaps not as set-in-stone as one might wish to believe...
Every player is a member of a pan-Erebus archaeological team sent to discover the deeper mysteries of the world's past. I have taken a few creative liberties with the plot of FFH, which is also based largely in my own ignorance of the canon, so if things don't quite stack up, then I encourage you to pretend they do.
