Come on, guys. No criticization aloud and I will ask that mods split off those criticize postings. If there is nothing nice to say then do not post in this thread.

I think I will let the fact that I am a female affect my comments on this video (which is actually real studio footage, from my understanding. Not just posing for the cameras and lip-sync):

... This. Is. Sexy.

Haven't you already made seventeen of these threads by now?

It's the truth.

Truth is usually nicer than silence.

The song is decent. I would rate it 8/10. But Tom Petty can not sing. And I don't understand how "sexy" is relevant to music. Ray Davies is not considered sexy. However, the Kinks are one of my favorite bands. Consequently, I wouldn't listen to Jonas regardless of Nick Jonas's looks.

By the way, what bands do you like apart from Tom Petty?

This apprecitatin thrad. Not critical thread. So make another thread to critical those

I know its not relevant. But its fun to get carried away sometimes.

Decent song, but replacing the emasculate singer dude (?) will dramatically boost the song, possibly to a hit.

PS why are the huge bolded words misspelled? (seems intentional, but I don't understand why.)

That song actually never came out. Rumors at the time were that it was gonna be a single. The "emasculate singer dude" would be T.P.

Last night I was very heavy on painkillers. So I was hitting wrong keys everywhere

You're gonna have to turn this one up. Its pretty quiet

By the way, you'll never guess where Stan Lynch said he got the idea for the drums from. Take a couple guesses. Then I posting the answer.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't understand where you're coming from. I am appreciating this song - I gave it an 8/10, right? 8 is a good score - the song I'm listening to right now (She Said She Said off the Revolver album) is an 8/10 song. And I'm not saying that the Heartbreakers are a bad band (I have listened to them for nearly two years), just that they're not the best and Tom Petty is not my favorite singer.
But if it offends you, then in the future I will refrain from posting on your apprecitatin thrad.

"I know its not relevant. But its fun to get carried away sometimes." Didn't get this line.

"I know its not relevant. But its fun to get carried away sometimes." Pardon me, but what do you mean by this.

I am a female. Unless they are lesiban, females like males. End of story.

You can post so long as it aint to say "stop posting that."

Benmont's having a blast in this one. Honestly have no idea what's up with Tom's hat though. Or those boots.

How many TP songs do you like?

How many TP songs do you like?

I'd say pretty much most of them except maybe "Free Fallin'." Which isn't a Heartbreakers song per se. 'Course theres some I like less than others -- like the sound of the "Into the Great Wide Open" album never sounded right to me. Too slick for the Heartbreakers. And "She's The One" was an odd mish-mash.

You'd really have to ask me song-by-song.

Crazy thoughts I had this morning in half-sleep (where I am liable to have crazy thoughts):

Wow. Just realized what the chorus of American Girl is about. I feel like I've reached a breakthrough of epic proportions:
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy, baby
Make it last all night

She was an American girl

I read somewhere that the song "Rebels" was basically a history of the South. But listen closer. It's about a drunken jerk who gets bailed out of jail by his girlfriend. Its really only the last verse that could you could consider a history.

At first MCA refused to release Songs from the Garage because they didn't hear any singles from it. How wrong they were.

i like this

I never watched it, but last night BBC Four did a documentary about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Every so often, BBC Four does show a series of different programmes about a particular musician, group or even genre. Usually it's only an hour for a single musician or group. I think the longest one that I watched was an hour and a half, and that was a documentary about British heavy metal and not a particular group. I don't think even their documentaries about Jimi Hendrix or John Lennon were that long.

I've heard. It was the 1980 Rock Goes To College (Oxford, England) and the Torpedoes documentary from last year.

EDIT: I've got both :)

Don't mean to be rude, but what is the point of this thread?

This from Rock Goes To College. :)

Listen very closely at 0:14 or so when Tom says "We've never done this song before..." If you turn up your speakers loud enough, you can hear someone in the background say "And we'll probably never do it again!" I'll give it a 98.97% chance that's Stan Lynch.

Violin guy scares me though.

To appreciation Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. It's all in the title. If you mean to criticize that I will very politely tell you where to go thank you.

edit: And thats to another thread

I am appreciating Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, I said it was a decent song, right? And where should I go? A new thread called "The Tom Petty Criticism Thread"? Mods wouldn't take kindly to that...
