LouLong requested this unit for a scenerio he wanted to experiment with. It's a treasure chest, obviously. It's supposed to be a capturable, flagged unit--as far as I know--that acts similarly to the PTW Princess unit. I don't know how to set that up in the editor, however. :( Well, if someone can figure out how to use them, the unit has default, fidget, run, and surrender animations. Well, I know the default, run, and fidget animations work. I haven't seen the surrender in-game though because, again, I don't know how that works in the editor. Oh well. Enjoy, whoever uses it! :D

Thank you. I was hoping that more people than just LouLong and Yoda Power would be interested.

PIRATE BOOTY!!!! Aaaaarrrr! Me thinks this be a good unit it be! Now, I'm really sad that I don't have PTW.

I love it, just don't know what to do with it. :(

Ever heard of a mimic? Tricked some D&D players with that one when I DMed. Anyway, You should give this thing an attack animation too. :D

Ah, so that's where Mimic came from... I never played D&D but, I've played Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest, which uses a lot of D&D stuff apparently. I can see it now.. treasure chests instead of goody huts, and treasue chest barbs. :)

Nice. Good for me that im Beta-tester for LouLong´s new pirate scenario.;)

Well, it is meant to replace the princess unit.
If you choose "Capture the princess" victory condition but replace the princess with the treasure-unit, then you will have to locate, capture and bring the treasures back to your own capital.
In a D&D-like scenario, you could hunt for treasures...

I was thinking if you can set it so you can capture it like a worker you could make it unbuildable and immobile with a load flag and either set them to finish improvements or maybe give them a really high production cost so you can disband them simulating some sort of mass purchase. Then maybe place them in barb huts. Of course you'd have to add a wagon or other land transport to pick them up and I'm not sure this will even work, but I might try and see.

This is sort of the same idea I had. Either that, or use Lou Long's idea of using it as a replacement for the Princess unit, so you could make a dungeon scenario where the goal is to steal the Dragon's treasure and get it back to town (your capitol).

As for a mimic, simply give it the attack animation from a different unit, such as a swordsman, or maybe Dark Sheer's giant spider. It looks like a treasure chest, but when you go to capture it, SURPRISE!!! Out pops a giant spider. :) (I can't count the number of D&D games where a chest either had a poisonous creature inside of it, or opening the chest caused some creature to be teleported in to attack the group.)

Wow. I can't believe that this little treasure chest got so many replies. I'm glad that people like it.

This would be a great Capture unit in my Magic Mod, but when I asked for an attack, I was thinking more of a D&D mod. The thing is, if we dont get an attack for it now, then when a D&D mod does finally start, they will have to try to make the attack then, and by then your 3D model will have been lost.

I know this as I wanted a unit in my mod, and it lacked a certain animation. I emailed the creator, and they said it was so long ago that they didnt have the model or raw files.

I am just trying to prevent that from occuring again. :)

This is a very insightful unit idea. I think I'll use it on the scenario/mod I'm dreaming up at this very moment.

Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you but I don't have a 3D model for it. I made a model, but I didn't save it. I'm using the Rhino evaluation and only have a limited number of saves to use. I just made the unit really quickly and then rendered all the frames for the animations. Hmm . . . what can be done? I think I have an attack in mind, which would use the surrender animation. When the chest opens, it could shoot something out: fire, arrow, dagger, etc. Would you have a preference? I could try to make one. I'm not promising anything great though.

Also, could this use the "defend" animation in the .ini file because the chest wouldn't be attacking anything? I've never tested that, but it might work.
