Two new DLCs available this Thursday: Korea, and Wonders of the Ancient World

Good morning forumers! Next week, you’ll be able to get your hands on two new add-on packs for Civilization V.

The first is Civilization and Scenario Pack: Korea, which allows you to play as Sejong, King of the Choson Dynasty as the leader of the Korean civilization. The scenario begins with Toyotomi Hideyoshi having just unified Japan, and is looking towards Korea to expand his empire. In the scenario you can play as Korea, China, Manchuria, or Japan.

The second is something a bit different than we’ve done in the past: Wonders of the Ancient World Scenario Pack. This add-on adds three new early-game wonders to the game: The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the Statue of Zeus, and the Temple of Artemis. The scenario is a race between the civilizations to be the greatest builder of the Wonders of the Ancient World.

Both of these packs will release Thursday, August 11. Each of the add-ons will cost $4.99, or you can buy them both together for $7.49.

I'm sure this news is going to make some of you ask about a potential patch. There is a patch coming. It is not necessarily releasing before this DLC, but I am getting the current patch notes together for you and I'll post a separate thread as soon as I have the info. Please don't use this thread to ask about the patch.

First Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56m47UPCV1A&feature=player_embedded#at=71) Highlights

Temple of Artemis:
- Culture +1
- GP Engineer +1
- +10% Growth all cities
- +15% Production building ranged units (unclear if in that city or all cities)

Mausoleum of Halicarnassus:
- Culture +1
- GP Merchant +1
- +100 Gold each time a great person is expended
- Each source of marble or stone worked by this city provides +2 Gold

Statue of Zeus:
- Culture +1
- +15% combat strength when attacking cities

I was expecting a wonder that will reduce building maintenance.

Not sure on the wonders but Sejong has the best artwork yet I think and the scenario looks epic. Korea will have ridiculous science with settled scientists and Freedom finished if I heard right.

Are the new wonders available in the regular games?

Turtle Ship

Isn't that kind of overpowered? Just fill freedom and rationalism and settle all your boffins.

That's why I mentioned specifically that it doesn't show the actual text in the video - I mean, it could be ridiculous or it could be yawn-time. From the wording, it's not even clear if the second part is a per-turn or one time boost.

Do the spices look different in the WotAW video or is it just me?

Yeah, I went back and checked the video because I was all like "NEW RESOURCE WHAT." I think maybe it's just because I never zoom in that far?

Of course it is. It'll help the DLC to sell better though. ;)

I wonder if the Korea scenario will be as bad as the Mongol one. Though, it doesnt really matter since I wont buy it.

No Sumeria? This is just an outrage.
How can they do this? Sumeria is one of the most great ancient civilizations in the world and they dump it like this while including **** like "the American Empire"? An outrage!
