Guarded, Hostile, Afraid, Emotionless?

I've been getting a lot more 'Afraid' civ states recently (clearly I've up'd my game

), but also yesturday a couple with 'Emotionless' status. Does anyone know how that's defined? Also are there any more than the standard Friendly, Neutral, Guarded, Hostile, Afraid?

Whoah, never seen that Emotionless in my games.. !

My guess is that the current leader doesn't show his true colors, so you don't know if he is angry, happy, afraid etc.

It's easy enough to recreate. I have exactly the same with Bluetooth in my current game.

I'm playing epic/large/emperor/continents match as Rome. During the middle ages I lost all my cities barre one to Elizabeth which put me on a downward spiral. Meanwhile Polynesia and Denmark must have been conquered.

When I finally got back into the game I was able to liberate their cities - my thinking was if they've never met me before maybe I won't get this 'you liberated us we hate you' mentality.

I still got this, but with the added 'Emotionless' status. I was hoping it would explain their mentality when liberated a bit but maybe not.

Emotionless is a bugged state. It is not a real state. Leaders stand weirdly like Askia look like a vampire. I swear there was a thread with Emotionless pictures around here and it was creepy.

That's one creepy bug. Someone did some xml diving in another thread and said that there is no "emotionless" setting.

Is Skynet becoming aware?

Someone was saying on the official forums that, thanks to this bug, when you liberate a civ, the leader is resurrected as a zombie. Also, emotionless AI make very weird diplo decisions.

Never seen emotionless. I'm gonna go with the others and say it's a bug, especially considering he seems pretty pissed off.

Or maybe it's the emotional state I'm in when I play a warmonger and wipe everyone out coldheartedly. Then again, I sort of enjoy that, so yeah, must be a bug.

Can I have a link to that thread? I've never had the emotionless state (but I don't have any DLC save for the monghol one) so I'm quite curious.

I've seen 'emotionless' a few times but only immediately after liberating a conquered civ. The newly liberated leader shows as emotionless initially.

I was maybe 40 turns into a game and Mr. Shoshone pops up on my radar. Thinking it weird he didn't introduce himself, I clicked on his city and he was "emotionless" and out for blood. Hah. In all my years, I've never seen that before!!

Nice, never knew this exists! Any civ I bought back to life would just be tagged 'RECALLED TO LIFE' instead.
