A continuation of the speculation thread, This is a thread about the upcoming game, Skyrim, to be released 11/11/11.

Browsing the official forums, I found out that Skyrim will be using an autosave system of 3 alternating slots. This was confirmed (via Twitter) by one of the guys working on the project, Pete Hines.

@JeanLavince alternates between 3 slots. You set time interval (5, 10, 15, etc) as well as if it saves on sleep, wait, etc.

Let's hope that we are allowed to perform that ancient technique known as "naming your savefile", unlike Oblivion.

Goodgolly, yes, I agree. Being able to separate saves based on character would be awesome.

If I get it at all, it will be for PC, yes. If it's anything like Oblivion it will require mods to even be playable :P.

Oh that's good. I drained down the toilet so many hours by forgetting to save.

And of course I'll get it on PC. Upgrading my PC now almost just for that. :) It's gonna be a monster :D

And 3 autosaves for when I mess up spectacularly. Awesome.

They should just steal the system Dragon Age and Mass Effect use (except make it faster) where you select the character and then you get to view it's saves (all of which can be custom named). It was a great way of sorting them out :)

Is there any new videos, info lately? Apart from preset faces, I believe it was the latest juicy info... Wasn't there some game convention yet again lately?

I think I heard that some demo shown at QuakeCon will be shown, I'm not sure how old this is though. There is a series of threads about it at the official forums. They're on thread no. 8 now.

And people are just guessing how much new footage will be included and how soon it will be made public.

Xbox360achievements.org preview indicates that the Imperial Legion will be a joinable faction:

Even after contributing to the locale’s economy by doing a spot of milling – basically just a series of button clicks at various places on the wood mill – the locals looked down on our reptilian warrior and treated him as an outsider. We were offered a quest to join the Imperial Legion here though, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

Also, some perk info:

Overdraw perk – adding 20% damage to our archery attacks
Eagle Eye, which allows archers to zoom slightly before shooting an arrow
Critical Shot, which improves your chances of getting a critical shot

A dragon shout for summoning wild animals

Mere seconds later, we had been notified that we had learnt one word of the Animal, Animal Allegiance Dragon Shout which you can use to summon “beasts of the wild” to assist you in battles

I do not own an Elder Scrolls game, but considering that I love Fallout, which is made by the same people (at least 3 and NV were) I might consider getting this one.

I was dismayed to see this on Pete Hines' Twitter feed:

@DCDeacon Will Skyrim have save "folders" for different characters? It was painful to load a different game from the save list in Oblivion.

@TymSymptom No, not an option.

Me disappoint :(

I fully expect them to continue watering down The Elder Scrolls with each successive installment. They will remove a buttload of things to make it even more accessible to casuals. Not mainsteam, no. Accessible. Oh yes. That is a word they like to use. <snip>

It's killing the PR of so many once-great companies. If Skyrim is more watered down than I think it is, I probably won't get TES VI. However, most of the streamlining I've seen so far is good streamlining and actually makes sense. Perks also sound nice.
