SGOTM 15 - Xteam

I have got off the road and out of the air, but it will take me a few days to get myself organised here and get up to speed again on the discussion. You have busy talking this last week I see.

"Got it"

Techpath: Hunting-> AH

City Builds: Warrior 3 -> Settler-> start Warrior 4

Worker 1: Finish Farm on Corn -> 1 Turn Farm FP -> Improve Deer -> Start Mine 1S

East Warrior; Lion near green hill 2E:
1N to reveal Tile -> Find Toku by going east through defensive terrain

North Warrior; Options:
1. Find Hammuragawa
2. Go back to NW of peak to get more vision and then find Hammuragawa
3. Go back near Deer/Gold to prevent barb city from spawning

Warrior 3: Fogbust Bombay site 1E of Gold

Settler: Move to Bombay site.

Pause after discovering AH to update with new situation

Other stuff:

EP-Points: Focus or spread out? I'd prefer focus on real Toku but could be difficult because he'll likely focus all of his points on us.

Demoscreens: Taking screenshots every turn.

Will stop if anything major happens.

Worker actions, City Builds and Techpath powered by "The Hawk" ;)

Well, I have been known to go additional turns. I guess you are correct leif :)

BTW, The earlier we can choose a friend, the better of any chance of winning any kiind of diplo game. I suggest that we try to get a good look of the area around each of the Gava's and eliminate the one with good land with an early rush.

And once we decide on who to keep around, we can focus our espy on him. If selected AI turn out to be a rotton apple, well then we stew him too.

Just for discussion. my feel is that on a normal game, the fastest time to VC is something like this;
AP>Domi/Conq>Diplo>culture>space. I forgot time and score but no big loss there. ;)

In this game it is likely that Domi is the fastest. So all you war mongers come up with war plans......please.

Looking good.

Worker 1: Finish Farm on Corn -> 1 Turn Farm FP -> Improve Deer -> Start Mine 1S
Might want to consider mining the grass hill 2-south of the capital instead as we get a commerce from the river in the deal.

edit - Agree with Htadus, let's spread the EP's out between the two Toku's for the time being. Once we decide who to keep, we can focus them.

Htadus, it was only a couple of turns...

Normally i would agree with you but mining the hill south of deer has the advantage that you can finish it and catch up to the moving settler and start the sheep at the exact time the city is founded. That's the reason why i would prefer it.

Good call! :goodjob: I agree!

I like the PPP, go ahead!

The north warrior should explore along the coast to open up trade routes earlier. I guess the mountain range will continue so we have no chance of meeting the CIV(s) isolated there anyway. :mischief:
Warrior 4 should fog bust gems site. (I have a lot of barb warriors running around at this date in my tests )

Was playing with Hawk's tested procedure and played on a bit. Oracle was built in a foreign land on turn 67 - 1320 BC.

Need to plan on Oracle before turn 65? How have others found this date?
That was fast..

Undecided tested this:
Like i said earlier i played a couple of starts with the given settings to look for wonderdates and hinduism. (random civs)

Turn
Hindu: 11, 17, 20, 11, 35, 11, 29, 16, 10
Henge: 39, 59, 50, 51, 53, 61, 46, 47, 63
Wall: 84, 49, 76, 76, 66, 70, 72, 60, 59
Oracle: 93, 109, 101, 69, 83, 85, 77, 86, 83
Mids: 107, 135, 107, 130, 83, 93, 116, 115, 77

I know it's not really representative but it should be good enough for a rough estimate.

We should be able to do it around T63-T65 :)
In this game it is likely that Domi is the fastest. So all you war mongers come up with war plans......please.
Let's do some more recon first.. :D

Sounds good to me.

Good Luck.

Warrior 4 should fog bust gems site.

Don't spoil the 2nd part of the turnset ;)

I have a lot of barb warriors running around at this date in my tests

Warriors... i just realise that my test save has a flaw
Will be updated after my turnset :D

Undecided tested this...

These numbers are no longer up to date, there is no buddha-fanclub and no Team-AI
we should run a few new tests. This could also be useful to see when Real-Toku could start plotting.

Will play in 3 hours or so. If somebody has any last minute moments of brilliance, go ahead. :)

I like the PPP, go ahead! Concur, with notes below.

The north warrior should explore along the coast to open up trade routes earlier. Yes, probably worth the turns. I guess the mountain range will continue so we have no chance of meeting the CIV(s) isolated there anyway. :mischief:
Warrior 4 should fog bust gems site. Absolutely, and then Toku may be south instead of east.
That was fast..

Once we have stone connected, even if we don't get SH, the hammers will be put to good use as gold at 2 to 1.

Ran 8 quick tests from my 8 different T57 saves:

AI Oracle: turn 73, 85, 73, 60, 68, 76, 70, 75

Toku stayed peaceful. ;)

Good luck playing. :hammer: (or maybe that smiley is a bit too early :mischief:)

Alright, played 4 turns and have to stop already.

Summary so far:

Found the borders of Hammuragawa and Tokugawa.

Found atleast 3 potential city sites.

Toku is really close as predicted.

Both AIs consider us their worst enemy now. Shocking, right? :D

The question: Settle 1E of gold or 2E.

Spoiler :

Our warriors will start with the border hugging as soon as possible. ;)

Should i play on while we make up our minds until the settler is out and able to move to bombay or should i wait?

It's getting late over here. I will continue in approx 10h, so everybody has a chance to share their opinion.

1E looks best, but horses could change that.

Undecided, screen shots are appreciated, but it's easy to post an interim save as well when you anticipate some analysis and discussion.

Ok bad news first:

No horses :(

Real-Toku settled Osaka near the corn. We can still settle bombay at our desired spot but we'll get border tensions pretty quickly. One more reason to get the oracle in bombay and get rid of him quickly.
There is no way we get past the AI without open borders.

Hammuragawa hasn't settled anything yet.

Good news:

Right now there isn't a lot of barb action yet.

We found a couple good city sites and if can easily defend our position towards Hammuragawa if he wants to help his friend by settling the chokepoint.

Will provide screenshots in a bit.
