Im considering starting a NES. If so, I'm interested in seeing how many people would be interested in partaking in one run by me. If I get enough early support, I'll post my ideas. They will most definitely be earth map, however. Also, if I do decide to begin a NES, it will most likely not be able to begin for another 2 or 3 weeks, which is when my summer break begins. Looking forward to a response.

I would personally feel that you should post your ideas first. We don't really know you as a Mod that well, and asking us to base on whether we would join or no on you would be hard for us to do.

Secondly, we have a NES NESes Thread for brainstorming, rules testing and preliminary response getting. So maybe you want to take a took at that first?

Finally, I would join if you A) have an interesting enough concept or B) do a fresh start. :D

Well then;

World War Three
In an alternate world where nationalism and fascism were not as rejected post-World War Two, four major power blocks have emerged. The Nationalists, obsessed with patriotism and power, comprise of the USA, Britain, France, and their ally, the People's Republic of China primarily. Protesting against the American fascism, several states have declared independence, such as the Great Lakes and California. The EU has been dissolved, leading to it only being left in several regions in Central Europe, creating the German Union. The Democrats of the world, concerned with safety and peace, are prominently lead by the German Union, Italy, Canada, and the growing Democratic Republic of China. In the poorer parts of the world, Communism has been making a true comeback, with large representatives in Yugoslavia, the New United Soviet Socialist Republics in Eastern Russia, and Sweden. Finally, there are the various powers ruled by absolute or religious control, though not united, they have enough brainwashed citizens to earn the title of Derelicts. These nations include Korea, and many African states. Then there are some unaffiliated nations caught in the crossfire, who had previously relied entirely on trade, while greedy powers look for their wealth. These nations include the Atlantic Trading State, Japan and the various states of the Middle East. More details available via PM.

Fresh World Start: 350 AD
A fresh start for the time period, with only China, and the Eastern and Western Roman Empires being present on the map beforehand.

It looks like the first concept is more fleshed out/prepared. I'd recommend doing that one because of that, and I might be interested in playing in it too.

Also, I approve of the LokkNES moniker :D

For 350 AD
I will definitely include the Parthians and Indians. You may choose to play as the Roman Empire. As for Imperial Provinces, I could implement a system similar to Crusader Kings, in that you can play from a lowly count type to the national ruler. And if you want to, you can always play as a vassalized mercenary organization.
World War Three
Well, you can't really have a world war without power blocks, so I'm not so sure about that. And yes, neutrals are awesome. Some power blocks, such as the Communists and Derelicts, may side with whomever they choose. In fact, I was hoping for a Yugoslavian alliance with the Democrats. And you can always switch sides later.

Some revisions as requested by Terrance.

:p

Is World War Three going to start right as the NES starts, or will this be like a World War II NES that starts in 1936; some time to plan, some time to maneuver?

How far advanced is this world? 1960s like Team Fortress, further? just 1950s?

How about Atomic Weapons? (some maniatical players can really ruin your day with them :/, but they add a new layer of thought; makes it more cold war though)

For World War Three, my last suggestion is that if war doesn't start soon enough, first start having hawks get elected/come into power, then stability goes down as peace is preserved. They want blood, and lots of it!

So 350 AD is fresh start as barbarians right? Just making sure.

World War Three will start as soon as the NES starts. Why and how is the player's choice. It's the 2030s, and technology is only to a point where RESEARCH into mass production of laser weaponry is going on. Finally, the atom was never split, as the Japanese were never seen as the vile fascist dogs in this world, and America instead accepted peace without mass genocide. The technology is instead only beginning to be experimented with.

And 350 AD is anything from the Roman Governor of Adrianopolis to the Emperor himself, to Atilla the Hun.

That's more what Im hoping to intend with the French than the Germans in this particular scenario, but that would be rather awesome.

No further input Terrance?
I'd like to have five people interested before I confirm a plan to start...

Well, flesh out concepts with a little more text than two lines, as well as some rules and you'll have more interest. Simply stating "I'm here and want to mod a NES" won't get much interest ;)

I dont like even the potential for atomic weapons after a few years of research. Is it possible to go with the good old neutral satellites that prevent any kind of ICBM? That kind of destructive power makes war way less fun.

agreed badunoff. We need that good old neutral SDI Defense that completely destroys every nuclear missile. Look at SonofMars. I honestly don't know how those games can run. Every time I played one, my nation got nuked to the ground.

OR

If you are going to add nukes, they need to have a very long term effect that slowly kills things off and spreads to other places via the wind. I'm not meaning 5 years I'm meaning 50 minimum.

Like I said in the other thread, I'd like to see the WW3 NES.
Echoing sentiment already seen here, first build off the concept you already have.
What I would do if I were you is create an outline (doesn't need to be a full one) of a ruleset, and sample stats, for both ideas (or the one), and then post those. ;)

World War Three I can agree with. Interested in this already. :)

Well, I actually didn't want nukes, I just assumed a general consensus would be yes. So SDI it is. I'll work on fleshing out the concept a little tomorrow.
