Time for Arabia :eek:, by far the strongest cilvilzation in the game! :)

Arabias UB: The Bazaar. This is clearly the strongest UB in the game in my opinion, absolutly insane in practice.

Arabias UA: +1 gold from each trade route. Double oil.

Arabias UU: The Camel archer. This unit is not only the strongest unit in the game, it is actually so stong I would consider it broken. Just try it out. :eek:

But the map is not too easy I hope. Here are the settings:

* Large map, but high water. Makes it just a little bigger than a standard map.

* No Spies.

* Policy saving allowed!

* Some of the opponents play in team!

Good luck!!! :)

Nice advertising campaign :lol:

I will play this for sure. Maybe i'll get my revenge for being slaughtered in DC7.

I don't think the Camel Archer is broken only because it lakes the additional movement point of the Keshik, meaning it has much more trouble in rough terrain, but it's damn close. :p

Once I finish up challenge 7(only 1 capital left to take) I might start on this, but I may need a break because the last one was pretty stressful lol

Both Keshiks and camel archers are so powerful they can dominate the game by themself. Mind boggling units. :)

If I would do the balance in this game I think a reasonable strength for the camel archer would be 14 consider the 4 movement, 21 is just crazy lol.

For me, I would still prefer a 4 movement 14 range strength unit before a crossbowman with 18 strenth and 2 movement. :)

My point was they're a bit vulnerable to rough terrain, because I have had annoying situations with Jungle/Forest Hills before. I think what really makes it insane though is the combination of Bazaars AND Camel Archers, givingg an extremely powerful UB and UU.

Bottom line, Arabia is insanely powerful :crazyeye:

I recommend gotm55 as destresser it worked for me.:cool:

Ugh. Turn 30, the world DoW's me. I mean, everyone, except 2-3 civs. 15 turns later they all come back with wonderous peace deals, so i am sitting on top of 1k+.. Man, this is just broken. :lol:

1k+ gold, great.:)

Maybe you do better than me, I think it is hard ;)

I agree that CA are quite op. My first deity domination in this patch was with Arabia. Taking out 3-4 civs with camel archers is not impossible. The bazaar does not go hand in hand with domination though.

My hope is still that this map will not be too easy, even for those who steamroll it early. The civs in team will have both sides, and no matter how you do you have to fight two flanks I hope. :)

Very fun map I think. Lots of strategy needed :)

these settings are quite interesting. ive never played a teams setup and stuff like policy saving will be interesting. and no spies is doubly interesting, i relied a good bit on knowing what caps were building but at least i dont have to worry about CS coups or my own tech thefts. and large maps mean i think 6 religions available so getting one could be delayed if necessary.

With the amount of money Arabia can make, and no spies for the AI's, I wonder if all city states could be had on this map..

That is a very interesting approach. :p

I have opened it and it hurts, feels like I have been kneecapped, tied up and left in a corner to even out the odds againt insanely powerful deity AI. Ouch, thanks Peter. ;)

im surprised at how much im debating my first move with warrior. i see 3 good hills to stand on to decide if i want to move the settler.

edit:

Spoiler :
this whole team thing is quite different. for a bit I wasnt really sure how things worked. i traded to one of them my extra salt but i had another one to trade and couldnt trade with one of the other team members. at first i thought they all had salt already. but then i thought if you traded with one they all didnt need it anymore but later on i could trade multiple salts with team members. so im guessing some of them just mightve had salt.

i havent gone to war with the big team so i intend to keep it that way so i can have those trades when i get bazaars up. im at t94 and just now starting NC with 5 cities and 1 puppet. im going slightly wide, maybe 2 more cities (one as a road connection) then just capture everything else. i have 2 of Rome's and his cap in about 10 turns. ive got 12 horses available so ill have a nice CA army ready to go. i built a few too many archers early so i dont mind losing a few in combat. im in negative gpt and borderline happiness but im saving for CA upgrades. getting chivalry first then education. still one AI to meet but I doubt this will go well. not sure how to handle the big team war when i get it started and im definitely not turtling up for sci. maybe diplo if i get a huge money machine rolling. i might try for Machu but i doubt ill get it as that city has low pop and production. ive really mismanaged my cpt. im maybe 5 turns from Oracle and it will finish Liberty as my 7th policy (took Trad opener). havent decided where to go with policies after that. i have like 12 cpt or something. also no faith either. if i get a GE with liberty and Hagia is available I might do that. But if Machu is available then I'll prolly got for that.

Will keep an eye on this thread for feedback. Do I see correctly on Peter's screenshot that there is a team with 5 AI's ?

Yes there is. I got to turn 101 one tech away from CAs. I have been DoWed by every single civ in the game, but got a peace deal from the team, eventually unallied AI killed me. I managed t 84 NC and four cities up but could not hold out. I got to rethink this, I think I will have to stay peaceful until CAs.

Sorry to derail - would like to play along. Which DLC(s) specifically are required to load this save? Cheers, can't wait to get owned.

So after playing a bunch of these deity challenges and mostly failing I may have a fighting chance this time, i think. Here are some highlights:

-Turn 18 Egypt takes Desert Folklore... grrr :mad:
-On Turn 20 Hiawatha invites me to go to war with Rome and Rome happened to have an unprotected worker close to my warrior so how could I say no. :mischief:
-Turn 31 I found a pantheon and decided to go with Messenger of the Gods for the science bonus which turned out to be quite helpful in getting my Camel Archers up in a reasonable time with a very late National College.
-Turn 38 I found Medina right up next to Rome and buy up one tile in Rome's second ring so that I could place a citadel next to Rome if the need arose. :blush:
-Turn 42 I found Damascus on the solo hill in the desert one space off the river.
-Turn 82 After softening Rome up for quite a while I finally capture Rome with 5 chariot archers, 3 composite bows, and a warrior without having to settle my Great General
-Don't know which turn, but I end up having to hold of Rome for a while, so I used my GG to build a citadel to hold back the Roman Horde.
-Build National College really late around turn 96-98
-Turn 115 Camel Archers are on line and I start whittling down the Roman forces
-Turn 133 images show how things are going...

Some other random notes:

Research Path: Pottery->Mining->Writing->Wheel->Construction->Philosophy->Currency->
Chivalry->Education

Full Liberty... no good wonders available and I wanted Camel Archers as early as possible so I chose a great scientist and settled him.

I didn't invest anything in religion except for initial shrine; getting Messenger of the Gods.

DOFs with everyone except for Rome.

I am not sure what my next plan of action should be. I obviously need to make Rome a non-factor and Hiawatha's settling has been quite upsetting so he may have to go next. But I just don't know if I will have a big enough window to leverage the Camel Archers on Deity... and I am worried about how exposed my position is right now. Any feedback would be appreciated.
