Barbarian City List

If you are not interested in back story, skip to the spoilers to see the list (or look at the pretty pictures.)

I'm not sure if anyone is interested or if this has been covered before in another thread, but, using IGE, I made every barbarian city. (How I know I got to the end was there were two Americas and I stopped once I reached Minneapolis.)

Then I spent a tiny bit looking for the XML file with the city names and, interestingly, Barbarians use both CIVILIZATION_BARBARIAN and CIVILIZATION_MINOR cities. And some cities are listed under both of these categories like Cherokee. (Find the XML file, Assets > Gameplay > XML > Civilizations > CIV5Civilizations.xml)

So, without further ado, here are the names in alpabetical order. (There is no preference for what name is chosen first unlike normal civilizations.)



I find this list interesting because at first I assumed this was a list of civilizations that wouldn't make it into the game, but then I noticed Hun and Polynesian is on the list.

I'm not sure how useful this list will be to anyone. I just thought it was neat and wanted to share.

Looking at all those names they look like civs that primitive in some sort of way. The list was probably made when vanilla came, seeing Huns and Polynesia. Maybe Firaxis had an idea about a Barbarian civ.

I'm pretty sure that this is the barb city list from Civ IV.

That's epic. I hope they are used in BNW (also, notice the absence of the Sioux)

Just looked again and saw Assyria and an Aztec city; so it's probably nothing.

Part of me was wondering if this meant they were originally going to have different factions of barbarians. They would have cities and you could conquer them like in Civ4.
