Hello, and welcome to something slightly different. I am The Sum of All That's Evil. If you can put such devilry aside for just a moment, I would like to invite you to an adventure of grand proportions.

I am inviting yourself, and perhaps loved ones to set sail from these shores in hope of what lies across the waters in the Americas. For I have been charged with finding fifty people of good conscience to help establish a profitable colony for Bristol's Society of Merchant Venturers, who have successful been granted a charter under King James I of England.

We set sail in one months time. If you wish to be a part of this, please ensure you return your documents to me by noon next Friday week.

Fx:

Smith // Tsoate
James Smith
Age: 34
Strengths: Strong/Able/Botanist
Weaknesses: Womaniser/Gambler/Short Tempered
Background: James Smith is at the end of his tether. He loves his wife Sophie, and his daughter Elizabeth, but the incessant nagging, the glances. He worries if he doesn't leave this town, it will be the end of him. Women and vice are all to easy to come by; he hopes this new life will set him straight.

Smith // Tsoate
Sophie Smith
Age: 27
Strengths: Cook/Sews/Mothering
Weaknesses: Naive/Illiterate/Emotional
Background: Deeply in love with James, she would follow him to the ends of the earth, with each transgression however, her mood clouds and finds herself nagging at her daughter and others to cover her anger.

Smith // Tsoate
Elizabeth
Age: 8
Strengths: Can fit into small places/climbs trees
Weaknesses: Is a 8 year old girl
Background: Daughter of James and Sophie Smith, wants a brother.

While there will be a stock of goods we will be taking with us, paid for by the good King James himself, I am more than open to all suggestions for what we should take with us.

Final Reserve, you may post :D

Any questions, please, fire away and I will try to clarify things. This NES will start with the ship launching from Liverpool, England. Destination, America! Hopefully it will be successful and not end up like this.

Nope? Nada? Nich? Hmm :( Is there confusion for what I have written above, or boredom? 150 page views and no one comments?

Has no one fantasized about the idea of being at the forefront of colonisation? To play a role and get your name marked on the map? This NES will have several turns in which we undergo the voyage, mostly a descriptive, storyNES while the different characters get on (or not!) with each other. It will then morph into a more traditional NES once we land, with NESers organising the local populace as you attempt to tame these wild lands. Food rations, wild animals, and other conflicts will all have to be planned for and adjusted to.

Wright // videonfan
Name:William
Age:35
Strengths:Engineer,Quick,Innovative
Weaknesses:Short-tempered,Shy,Lazy
Background:Once tried to convice the local population of Cornwall to create a mass fortification, seeing how the area was so far away from the rest of England and prone to an invasion from France or other threats. The local population dismished his claim as silly and as such he was angered at their naivety and left to the New World to try new building techniques.Being alone for so many years has let him become short tempered and socialy incapable.

OOC:Accepted? Will we have random events like, successful invasion of England by spain etc?

Welcome :D An perfect. I like the idea behind him, I am sure he will approach colony building in his own unique way.

Oh I have all manner of things planned. But first we must fill the ship, can't start a colony with just yourself and the sailors that will get you there!

Ideally I would like 8 players, I think that would be a perfect number.

From my experience over the Paradox Forums, gaining players is a hard and tiresome process, especially if it's not part for a "franchise"
For example, over there, there are these "WiR" games that have long waitlists and many players. These are political games, playing as nation essentally. But when they were first created, not many people jumped to join them like they do now.Patience is the key in any forum games.

True, I am sure some of the more experienced players are loath to expend time joining this, when I have no real track record. So thank you for taking this "risk" :D

I am interested, more so in managing a colony than a story nes, but thats my personal preference. I still am tempted to join, but I need to make sure im not too busy.

Alexander Wealsey
Age: 24
Strengths: Military Genius/Orator/Organizational Genius
Weaknesses: Womaniser/Short/Not physically strong
Background: Alexander Wealsey is a young ambitious man. He wants to go on America in order to gain glory, fame, riches and maybe even power. He wants to imitate his hero, Julius Ceasar and has a strong desire to leave his name in history. Despite being short and not very physically strong , thanks to his strong personality, he has many lovers and has a fame of being a womaniser. But this sometimes gets him into trouble, especially as some of his lovers are married.

No. If they all came, there would be no space for colonists in the ship. :p

Kazimeirz || bon3fang

Name: Jan Kazimierz
Age : 28
Strengths : Soldier, Swordsman, Horse Riding
Weaknesses : Illiterate, Drinker, Gambling, Unusually chivalrous when drunk

Background : Jan grew in the steppes of central Europe, and following most of his fellow brothers, joined the army as soon as he could. Like most men of his lands, the steppes, riding on a horse was but a natural thing to these men, and hence into the cavalry regiments he joined.

War was good, for it brought ample chances to kill, and to loot. The nights were, at times, of great fun and frolic, with dames and alcohol flowing freely, often at the cost of someone very pleased to offer or coaxed to do so.

On the 5th year of his service, along came an offer to leave the army, for his regiment was being disbanded. Jan and his brothers in arms went to the nearest port to search for "jobs" that might be available. It was heard that that kings and queens were looking for men to fight in their wars in Britain. One hearing the news of travelling to the "new world" at the king's expense, Jan was in the port, looking for the right people who could let him in the ship.

Freemason // SmithRobloxian
Name: Cain Freemason
Age: 38
Strengths: Leader/Swordsman/Chaming
Weaknesses: Criminal/Prideful/Selfish
Background: The leader of the Freemason trio, being the one who conducts the plans for their own gain, but since their latest one went wrong, they are now sent along with the colonists for settling a colony for Bristol's Society of Merchant Venturers, as Petty Criminals. This wouldn't stop Cain from masterminding scams to get them on top of the colony, however.

Name: Bruce Freemason
Age: 36
Strengths: Tough/Strong/Carpenter
Weaknesses: Criminal/Weak-Willed/Stupid
Background: Being the brute of the trio, Bruce is the one relied on for when a plan requires a bit of muscle to work, either on stands and objects, or 'convincing' the people who are required to be 'convinced'. He has a hobby of making wooden ducks and setting them by ponds, in which he waits for someone to take it, follow them home, knock them out and take all their stuff.

Name: Gordon Freemason
Age: 44
Strengths: Bookworm/Analyst/Marksman
Weaknesses: Criminal/Mute/Unlucky
Background: The brains of the trio, while he has a heart of gold deep down, he has to suppress it when there is work to be done. He accidentally created a poison which converts human beings into zombies once, and manage to hide it in a wine shop, where it would later be bought by Isaac Newton, and cause the plague accidentally, which led to the Great Fire of London indirectly.

Welcome both Kazimeirz and Freemason!

We have a disturbing lack of women, is everyone unlucky in love? At this rate I will have to buy some prostitutes for our colony!

Don't worry, I got you covered :)

Jones // Amesjay

Elizabeth Jones
Age: 20
Strengths: Charismatic/Cunning/Actor
Weaknesses: Short Tempered/Weaker (cause she’s a woman?)/Stubborn
Background: Elizabeth has often used her womanly wiles to get what she wants, she believes that in the new colony this will be no different. She has often avoided doing any real work but instead having the flocks of young men do her bidding. She and her sisters believe that this new colony will be the perfect place for them to acquire wealth.

Victoria Jones
Age: 20
Strengths: Ladylike/Well-Educated/Attractive
Weaknesses: Delicate/Proud/Easily Jealous
Background: Like her twin Elizabeth, Victoria has no qualms using her appearance to achieve her goals. Unlike her twin however, Victoria would rather not use her body so freely but instead use her ladylike manner and appearance to bewitch the young men.

Olivia
Age: 18
Strengths: Good at running household/Hard working/ Beautiful
Weaknesses: Naive/Emotional/’Falls in love’ Easily
Background: Unlike her older sisters, Olivia is not one to take advantage of others. Whilst she understands how her older sisters get what they want, Olivia often falls for every charming young man she sees and would never dream of using them for her own personal gain. She is a much harder worker than her sisters and knows how to run a household.

Welcome Amesjay! :D

With that very welcome addition I feel we may yet have enough characters to get this moving. I am still open to other players, but this will be a nice number to start with. I will keep things open until next weekend when I will kick things off with Update 1. That will be the launching of the vessel and the initial journey across the waters.

What precise year is this planned to start in? It will decide elements of my two Characters backgrounds.
