Ideas for the next Civ game

The best place I've found to post ideas for a new Civilization game is the Civ - Ideas & Suggestions section under Civilization 5. The problem is, if you want to talk about ideas for an unreleased Civ game, they're in the same area as people who want to talk about changing or adding to Civ5.

I would like to separate the two topics so you'd end up with a Future Civ Game - Ideas & Suggestions and the current Civ5 - Ideas & Suggestions. I think there is enough interest in speculating/dreaming/wishing about the next game from all players (not just the ones who visit Civ5) to justify a subforum of it's own.

Some time after BtS, and before Civ5 was announced/released, Ideas & Suggestions was in 'The Tavern', which also contained 'News Updates'. This is what will most likely happen again, though as the current public beta indicates, Civ5 production has not yet concluded, and a forum move is unlikely until things are all quiet on that front.

You're very welcome to use the I&S forum for non-Civ5 ideas. It's placement is just a matter of where it's most convenient for those who are likely to use it.

Thanks for the history lesson. I have some old, old threads that are in I&S from 2004 before Civ IV came out and I wondered where they went for a while. At that time I think it was a section devoted to theories and wishlists like I mentioned, and not mixed in with the ideas for improving the current game which was Civ III. I just remember that it was really exciting bouncing ideas off like minded people back then.

The reason I started this thread is that my idea would be two forums: I&S stays exactly the way it is now and a new one is created for Future Civ Game discussion. If I were to pick a place perhaps below Civ1?

All I can do is ask but that'd be a lot better than talking Ideas and Suggestions with only the players of the most recent game.

Yes,there should be another section.not every civ player plays civ V

I think there's the potential, in plastiqe's suggestion, to funnel various (potentially "vigorous") threads to a more neutral ground so players would be able to exchange ideas without others feeling their preferred game iteration is being trolled.

But, mostly, it could be a place where others are reminded/educated about things that were/are in iterations they haven't played; by those whom don't lurk the entire CFC site. For example, I rarely lurk CivV but, occassionally, do and figure something out that's interesting to consider for some future Civ iteration. Unfortunately, I have to read through a lot I don't understand to get to something I can.

Camikaze mentioned to me that he was looking into making that area less Civ5 specific and that the site admins were possibly adding a link from the Civ4 section. I still think the current game and the future game are different topics so they should be different forums but I guess we wait and see for now.
