Petition- Dedicated Moderator of the Mafia/NOTW section.

This section is the only place where I play Mafia/NOTW where there isn't an active, dedicated, Mafia/NOTW playing moderator who moderates the section itself.

What I propose is that some of our most active and experienced Mafia/NOTW players step up to moderate this section, open/close/rename threads and police unwanted activity which breaks either game rules or forum rules, so a mafia-related issue can be reported to someone who understands the game, or we can have threads locked and unlocked at will, for example.

I would not speak for anyone else but myself, but I have volunteered to do this repeatedly and it has fallen on deaf ears, so I believe a petition would be more effective.

I would also like to Nominate Ekolite, who is a NOTW veteran and someone I trust to care about this section.

I have several other names in mind. But as I said, I don't want to speak for them. If they would like to step up and form a Mafia/NOTW moderator team, please speak up.

If we can get enough signatures I believe the admins will make someone a moderator of this section.
 
I am a fan of having a dedicated mod for this section that plays/understands the games as well. ATPG is one over at the org and in my opinion does a good job there, so I don't have any issue with his request. Whether it is Pizza or someone else, I do think it would be a good thing to have.
 
I should note I have several years of experience moderating both the Mafia section at the Org and over on TWC while it was active (I revived that dead section and helped keep it active) and I also moderate over on Giraffe boards. I actually come to the table with three sites where I have a long history of fair moderation of a Mafia section, not just the one.
 
A dedicated mod for the Mafia section is a great idea, though thankfully the section has been pretty good so far without one. ATPG, you would be a great moderator but I worry that with all of your time commitments this extra role just might make you more busy, while I want you to be spending your time moderating and playing games.:p

I think Ekolite, Choxorn, Or Backwards Logic would make good mods.
 
I don't think there needs to be a moderator.

we haven't had any problems for a good 1.5 years or so now.
 
Thanks for the nomination ATPG, I would be willing to accept the position if it was offered to me.

I'm for having a dedicated moderator here who plans on sticking around for a while. It was nice to have a Methos/DaveShack/Camikaze outside Moderator come in for a bit and hang out, but having a dedicated one would allow for all of those 'wacky' requests such as renaming threads, opening and closing, etc. I appreciate the nomination and would accept if offered, though ATPG has done it before and done it well, so if we could only have one I'd pick him.

It's a thing over at .org land and elsewhere. I requested my own be locked/unlocked during my latest NOTW. I think you don't see it here is because most outside moderators wouldn't understand why we're making all of these different requests. They have enough to do as is, they likely don't want to hear from us with our 'unique' requests. Hence having our own - requests like that could be honored in a more timely fashion without the 'huh?' moment.
 
Should this be restarted over in Site Feedback? I think it would be seen a lot quicker there.
 
It might be a good idea to have two moderators in different time zones so that at least one is online at various points throughout the day. I'm in the UK if that helps.

I would volunteer, but my past is checkered with red, so I doubt the CFC higher-ups would even consider me.

EDIT: I think Backwards Logic is the obvious choice, but really it just needs to be someone who can do stuff promptly and in a timely manner.

Reported posts and moderator-related PMs are read by me immediately before I do anything when I get home, and they require mere seconds to respond to in almost all cases.

It adds approximately 10-30 seconds to my workload, per week, on average.

I could moderate 50 sites similar to the org at once. It's not even work.

I am also playing a maximum of 1 mafia game at a time for the next 6 months.

I'd be honored to moderate the section with any of these

I'd trust them to do a good job even if I wasn't a member of the mod team.

There are no individuals with better histories and dedication to the section. And red marks on records be damned, Zack is a superb mafia host and player and could easily do this job.

Even before going to the loo? That's dedication.

I don't think it'd be wise to have you moderate when all your attention is on this other doomungous game of yours.

Now, another thing is that all moderators are global mods who happen to be assigned to one particular place at some time or another. So no one can be made a mod without knowing that they can handle themselves in the rest of the place -I still think regional mods should be available but no, it won't happen.

btw I haven't got any new points since last Caturday so I'm good moderator material.
 
If I thought I had the time I'd nominate myself, but as it stands I can't quite commit to an always on job. If I miss a day or two in a game, no big deal, but with people actually relying on me ... :p

Americans do not have "loos". They have proper toilets. You should try one, it feels much better than any namby-pamby "loo". Each flush is 25 gallons, which is completely necessary since we never eat vegetables and our feces are the size of wiener dogs. The mighty roar of every single flush causes some third world country to go another season without a proper harvest due to lack of potable water. It is really quite breathtaking.
