Greetings! As you hopefully know by the time you've opened this thread, I'm mrrandomplayer. This will be the 4th* story on S&T that I'm starting now. As some of you remember from the poll that I took a billion years ago on my page, this story will also feature Pokemon, specifically one (or maybe even more) Nuzlocke. Anyways, here are the settings:
j7rsBxi.jpg

In addition, here are the Nuzlocke rules that I'm using for my Emerald Nuzlocke (featured in this game):
1. Catch only the first Pokemon I find on a route.
a. If it's a duplicate of a Pokemon I already have, I get to try again.
2. If a Pokemon faints, it's considered dead and must be permaboxed (I would release them, but I like having their stats on hand).
3. Nickname all Pokemon. The nickname theme that I'm using for this game is Magic the Gathering cards.

Let's go!

Cyrus looked over his people. They had finally decided that settling down to build a city was the best decision, given the diminishing success rates of hunting and the increasing ferocity of the wild Pokemon. His Aggron let out a roar of warning as a courtier arrived and ran up to Cyrus.

"We have looked around the region for sites for building a city. In the end, our scouts have found that the best spot for a city as grand as Babylon is slightly to the south, on the coast. Fish and game are plentiful, and the coastal location will allow us to build up a navy. Shall we settle there?" asked the courtier.

"Very well, that seems better than this hunk of desert. We shall go there and found our grand city!" answered Cyrus. With that, the Parsi civilians, accompanied by a division of archers, started to move south.

Suddenly, a plume of all of the colors of the rainbow illuminated the sky. Everyone gasped and looked up to see a mythical bird in the sky.

"Is that the legendary bird Ho-Oh?" asked one civilian.

"Maybe it is. It has been said to grant eternal happiness to those who see it. Its passing over us is a sign of glory!" answered Cyrus.

As Random looked at the beautiful Ho-Oh in the sky, he knew what eternal happiness for him would be. He looked briefly at the Mudkip that he had received at birth, and knew that eternal happiness for him would be to travel around the world with his Mudkip, catching Pokemon and people.

Little did he know that Ho-Oh had granted that wish, but not without a price.

"Let us mobilize the troops. A civilization to the west, called Babylon, attacked our scouts and declared war on us. We will teach them a lesson," declared Cyrus.

His Aggron sounded the war call, and the entirety of the Persian army began to march westward.

Awesome! How many months ago did you announce a pokemon related story?

Ooh! Pokemon and Civ together! subbed
Also random get me on Smash 4 ASAP

I haven't bought the full version yet. I just bought my 3rd EDH deck today, so that purchase will have to wait a bit.

It normally has four cities. Thank god, there aren't any axes.

Yeah, I usually just declare war on them and pillage their improvements. However, since my coastal city would flip to Arabia anyways and Babylon had no copper, I decided that I could kill Babylon easily.

Random had finished gathering his supplies and was about to leave for the army station when his childhood friend, May, came up from behind him.

"Wait, don't go yet! Now that your Mudkip is ready to battle, let's have a Pokemon battle!" she said.

"I'm about to leave, Omnibian (the nickname) can rest on the journey, so alright." answered Random.

Thus began one of the most boring battles that Random had ever experienced. Both Pokemon only knew how to Tackle, so the fight was a scuffle as both Pokemon were rolling on the floor, jabbing at each other.

However, suddenly, May's Treecko suddenly hit Omnibian right in the gut, causing it to crumple over, nearly unconscious. However, Omnibian managed to muster enough strength to deliver the knockout blow to Treecko.

OOC: After that crit, Omnibian had 1 hp left. I thought my Nuzlocke might end very quickly!

"Well, it looks like you're ready for this war," said May, "let me give you some Poke Balls, fresh made from Apricorns, to help you acquire more Pokemon during your journey!"

Random thanked her, said goodbye to everyone in Sirajs, and began marching with the army towards Kalhu, the nearest Babylonian city.

Several days had passed since the army had began marching along Route 101. As the army set down their tents and began to set up an encampment, Random pitched his small tent and lay down for a while. In the meantime, Omnibian, his Mudkip, began to explore the area.

As Omnibian wandered around the perimeter, he suddenly was surprised by the appearance of a Wurmple in front of him. After talking, they became close friends quickly, and Delver of Secrets joined the team.

Several days later, Omnibian and Delver were walking along behind Random and talking.
"It's a pity that there are only the two of us. Most people can practically travel with up to 6 pokemon," said Delver.

"Well, for my entire life, I was lonely, being hatched from an egg and growing up with humans," replied Omnibian.

As Omnibian finished his sentence, a Zigzagoon trotted up to them.
"You two look strong," said the Zigzagoon, "and I've always wanted to see the world! Can I travel with you two and your trainer?"

"What were you just saying, Delver?" asked Omnibian.

"Sure! Welcome aboard!" replied Delver.

"The name's Charging Badger," the Zigzagoon said as he introduced himself.

Suddenly, everyone came to a halt as the general's Mightyena roared out the command to stop.

"We have reached the outskirts of Kalhu. Now, we will set up camp and besiege the city. Immortals and Chariots, be prepared to make an attack with your division at any time!" yelled the general.

"Alright. Since we have some time on our hands, we should start training up in case we have to attack Kalhu," said Random to his team, who obviously only understood "training".

Several days later, training had finally finished. Delver had just beaten the last training dummy. However, he suddenly started feeling funny.

"Everyone, I feel a little weird..." he started to say, but then his words were cut off as he started forming a cocoon. A few seconds later, he was a Cascoon.
"I feel so much bulkier! Hopefully, I will get used to my new form soon," he exclaimed.

"Immortal Unit 2, it is time for you to attack Kalhu! This attack should be relatively easy, as this is the last unit of Bowmen present! Get ready to march!" yelled the general. Random gathered his spear and his Pokemon, and waited with the rest of his division outside of the town.

"CHAAAAARGE!" yelled an officer, and the Immortals division stormed the town, fighting Bowmen left and right. Fortunately, the Immortals were extremely well equipped and trained to fight archers, so they cut through the defenders relatively quickly and began looting the town.

Random was looking for valuable items when he heard a Poochyena bark loudly. He suddenly turned around to see a Poochyena trapped by rubble confronting the beginnings of a fire. Random quickly ran in and grabbed the Poochyena.
"You saved my life!" he said, "I'll call you Watchwolf."
As the blaze continued to spread throughout the city, Watchwolf ran in front of the rest of Random's team to guide them through the burning city. Miraculously, they managed to escape across the river completely unharmed.

"Thank you, Watchwolf. I will never forget how you saved all of our lives. Welcome to the team," said Random.

I'd never heard of the "Nuzlocke" challenge up until this moment.

I'd never heard of the "Nuzlocke" challenge up until this moment.

It originated on , as a comic series called "Ruby: Hard Mode". I would provide a link to the comic's website, but the comic contains a lot of very crude and occasionally profane humor.

After resting for a few days, the Persian army continued onwards with its march towards Babylon, the capital city of Babylonia and the last bastion of Babylonian resistance.

Random was walking along with the rest of the army with his Pokemon besides him towards Babylon. Their destination for that night would be near the Babylonian's quarries of Marble. The next day, some of them would move south towards the stone quarries.

Random's 4 pokemon were talking to each other and getting to know each other. Watchwolf, the new addition to the team, was talking about his past growing up in Kalhu.

"I was a stray for my entire life. I've never had a trainer, but sometimes, the little kids would be kind enough to pet me. When I saw Random during the attack with you guys by his side, I knew that he was a kind and strong trainer, so I tried to help him. We ended up saving each others' lives, so I'm quite grateful for that," he explained.

"Were you part of a pack or anything?" asked Delver.

"Yeah, when I was a little pup, but it got dispersed when a group of Nuzleaf attacked us," answered Watchwolf.

"Did somebody say pack?" asked another voice.

"Who are you? Show yourself!" yelled Omnibian.

"I'm Pack Rat. My pack got attacked by some starving Babylonians, and now I'm the only Pack Rat left. Can I join your pack?" asked the Marill who stepped out.

"Sure, I guess," said Omnibian.

With that, Pack Rat joined the team, and everyone continued to advance towards Babylon.

Several hours later, the weary army finally came to a halt. The army had made it to its destination for that day, as the gigantic quarry in front of them showed. The Babylonians had evacuated it ahead of time, as their reconnaissance Pokemon had shown them. However, the fact that the quarry was built by enemies did not reduce its grandeur. Random did not notice his father, Norman, behind him.

"RANDOM!" he yelled, finally getting Random's attention.
"What? Sorry that I spaced out," he replied.
"Could you teach this private how to catch a Pokemon? His name is Wally," ordered Norman.
"H-hi. I'm Wally," said Wally.
"Pleasure to meet you. There should be some wild Pokemon nearby," said Random.

After a few minutes of searching, they bumped into a wild Ralts. Wally sent out the Zigzagoon that Norman had lent him, and after a quick fight, the Ralts was sufficiently weakened.

"Now what do I do? How do I capture it in this Apricorn-thingy?" asked Wally.
"You press the button and throw it directly at the Pokemon. Hopefully, it won't break out," answered Random.

Wally threw the Poke Ball, and after the Ralts wiggled a few times in resistance. the ball clicked shut.

"Thank you so much! I can't describe how happy I am right now!" exclaimed Wally as he ran off.

"Alright, we still have a lot of work left to do with regards to training," said Random to his team, "let's go into that forest over there."

After walking into the forest, Random tripped over something. When he got up, he saw a Shroomish underfoot. Random's Pokemon prepared to attack the Shroomish.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to hurt anybody! I'm just hiding from the Babylonians! They've gotten so desperate during their siege that they've started to capture and eat Pokemon, even Shroomish!"

"You could travel with us and be safe that way," explained Charging Badger.

"That sounds reasonable. My name's Thallid," said the Shroomish.

"Welcome to the team, Thallid," said Omnibian, and the rest of the team extended a hearty welcome.

"We have a full party of 6 now! Let's get to work training!" said Random.

~

Several hours later, training was finally finished. Delver had evolved into a Dustox, and all of Random's Pokemon were ready to attack the stone quarry, which Persian intelligence had stated was defended by primarily Rock-type Pokemon. Random's division was given that task instead of directly attacking Babylon, as they were still somewhat injured. Now, they were all gathered outside of the fortified quarry town.

"Alright, we charge on 3. 3... 2... 1..." said the division commander.

"CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

The unit of immortals rushed into the town and began attacking. Most of the trainers there put up surprisingly little resistance, as Pack Rat, Thallid, and Omnibian annihilated most of the Rock-type Pokemon. Then, a trainer with a Machop suddenly appeared and blocked Random's path.

"Go, Pack Rat! You can take out this Machop!" yelled Random as the Pokemon ran towards each other and started fighting. Pack Rat appeared to have the upper hand, but suddenly, the Machop landed a Karate Chop at the weak point in Pack Rat's defenses. Pack Rat crumpled to the ground, dying.

"No! Why did it have to be a critical hit! You had so much potential!" yelled Random, half sobbing, "let's make that Machop pay for its actions, Omnibian!" the Mudkip ran towards the Machop, vengeance in its eyes, and unleashed a torrent of Water attacks and knocked out the Marill.

By then, most of the fighting had stopped, and the last bastion of resistance was the watchtower. The leader of the town, Roxanne, was standing up there, yelling commands to the few Pokemon trainers there. Random realized that the battle would be won as soon as Roxanne was defeated and ran into the tower, powering through her bodyguards' Rock-type Pokemon and running into Roxanne's room.

"Who are you?" asked Roxanne.

"I am the Persian Immortal Random. I am here to defeat you and take control of this town," answered Random.

"Very well. Let this battle for control of the town begin," declared Roxie as she sent out her Geodude.

"Omnibian, use Water Gun!" commanded Random. Omnibian projected a powerful force of water at the Geodude, and it was knocked out from just that hit.

"That was just my weakest Pokemon. Go, Geodude!" yelled Roxanne as she sent out another Geodude.

"Omnibian, hit it with another Water Gun!" responded Random. This time, the Geodude wasn't knocked out in one hit, but it was weak enough that another Water Gun knocked it out easily.

"Now, you will see my strongest Pokemon. Go Nosepass!" said Roxanne.

"Omnibian! Switch out for Thallid!" ordered Random as Thallid jumped to where Omnibian was and paralyzed the Nosepass with Stun Spore.

"Nosepass! Use Block!" yelled Roxanne as Nosepass spread its arms out to prevent Thallid from leaving battle. However, Thallid has no intention of leaving as she used Absorb on Nosepass, draining away some of its energy. Nosepass started to bring down the roof on top of Thallid and slow her down with Rock Tomb, but Thallid was able to take advantage of Nosepass's paralysis and Absorb all of its life energy away.

"You have beaten me fair and square. I surrender," said Roxanne, "and I am now your prisoner."

"Your terms of surrender will be discussed with Norman, the general of the army," declared Random as his Pokemon escorted Roxanne out of the tower. Norman, surprisingly, was waiting for Random at the foot of the tower.

"Weren't you supposed to be attacking Babylon?" asked Random, confused.

"Babylon has fallen, and Babylonia destroyed as a civilization. Additionally, after a raid on the Phoenician workforce, we have concluded a peace treaty with them," answered Norman, "you have done a good job in securing this town. I will make sure to mention this to Cyrus."

It felt unusual for Random not to be marching with his unit during the military parade celebrating the capture of Babylon. Instead, he was standing with Cyrus and Norman with the awards ceremony about to begin.

"Attention," yelled Cyrus as the military came to a halt, "we are gathered here today to recognize the acts of bravery by the Persian Army. We would like to recognize Random in particular for taking out the leadership of the defense of the quarry town all by himself. Roxanne has decided to work with us now, and will become the Gym Leader of Babylon's new Rock-Type Gym. To honor Random's bravery, we will reward him with the first badge of that gym, the Stone Badge!"

Everyone cheered and applauded as Random took the badge from Cyrus and held it up in the air. He was thankful that his team had carried him for victory, but aware of the price of that attack.

Have you met your rival yet?

Link to video.

Technically yes, but in Emerald, you don't get to name your rival lie,you do in most other games. For the first half of the game, May is your rival, but then after Lilycove City, you don't really have a rival until Wally suddenly surprises you out of nowhere in Victory Road.

They seemed to make your rival increasingly underwhelming in each subsequent iteration of pokemon. At least from blue to emerald. I haven't played any further than that so I'm not sure if they made your rival even lamer.
