AtomicGamer (CivFanatics host) is shutting down

Yes, we've known about this for a couple of weeks. We didn't announce it because Atomic Gamer hadn't gone public. We have a new host and have begun planning the migration to a new server. Our URL will still be civfanatics.com. There will probably be some downtime, but we're not sure how much. We expect that all posts, attachments and other files will be preserved. Please feel free to post any questions, but we might not have all the answers yet.

Who will be the new host?

So, what happens to uploaded files, e.g. mods and scenarios, hosted by AtomicGamer?

The site has been very slow during the last hours, sometimes it takes minutes to load a page. Is this because of the Atomic Gamer shutdown? Will we experience this more often in the future?

Our new host is a site run by Thunderfall's brother. We already store some files there, such as HoF and GOTM stuff.

If the files were uploaded via CivFanatics, then they will be migrated to the new server. However, if you have a personal account with Atomic Gamer that you use to store your own files, then you need to contact them for advice.

Loading time is normal, for me, right now. I'm not aware of any actions being taken by Atomic Gamer today that might affect us.

Oh, yeah, crap, my mod is there.

-> might be necessary to announce the shutdown separately in some of the C&C forums, more people might have some of their files there.

Is there any chance that this change of host might improve the email notification problem?

I hope the move process is going to be painless.

I just posted Petek's AC2 Front Page news item about this to y'all's Facebook page - but it's in a sidebar where no one will see it.

There ought to be an official announcement up front and center. :yup:

The Atomic Gamer site has informed CivFanatics that they are shutting off their servers on or around July 31, 2015. This announcement has major consequences for CivFanatics because most of our site is hosted on Atomic Gamer servers. We have found a new host and are planning our migration. However, we've also learned that many in the modding community have individual accounts at Atomic Gamer which they use to store their files. I just wanted to give a heads up to AC2 in case anyone here has files stored on the Atomic Gamer servers. If so, you may wish to backup your files.

I believe Aeson will readily agree to promote an announcement at 'poly, and you never know at WPC - try Nikolai.

It might also be worth mentioning that 3DDownloads is part of AtomicGamer, so any files that were originally uploaded there would also be affected.

that would depend on whether CFC or its hosts are running ads from Google.

I just received an update from Thunderfall about the migration of CivFanatics to the new server. It's going smoothly. We'll have to take CivFanatics down at some point, perhaps for two days. I'll post more information when it becomes available.
